some article (Daily Herald?) said Prior was ahead of Miller, who is in the long-toss phase of his rehab. didnt say where prior was, though. how is miller rehabbing? he was pitching in the big leagues in september? But not at 100%. few pitchers pitch at 100%. as far as i know teams dont rehab players (especially pitchers) in the majors. Miller was nowhere near even 90% when he was pitching last year. And teams, although not officially, rehab pitchers in the majors all the time. What do you call Wood's 2000 season? Or any pitcher coming off a major surgery, like Tommy John, that needs that year to get fully healthy? John Smoltz's career as a closer essentially started as a way to rehab his arm, IIRC.

Well, at the very least, we've known Prior has been on the "throwing off the mound" phase since mid-January. That's definitely an improvement from past years.

That's really nice to hear. I'd love it if he could make the switch back to starting more quickly than Smoltz did it.
  4. Seriously, who cares? I don't get why people flip out or even care about stuff like this. If it were up to me, they'd tear the place down and build a new retro park (with an ample supply of decent bathrooms) near the lake. Oh, and with no obstructed view seating. Plus, they wouldn't have the neighborhood (which, admittedly, is probably the best part of Wrigley) limiting their night games. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure Wrigleyville isn't a bigger factor in that whole Wrigley aura than the stadium itself. I'm not nearly as big a Wrigley fan as I am a Cubs fan. /rant
  5. Actually it isn't a joke, it's true. Right on, man.
  6. hahahahhaa jokes about makr prior and towals are so funny111!!111 hahahahah he throws towals not ballss111!!!!
  7. "GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FIRST POST." 670 the score radio I know at noon every day Mike Murphy talkes about the cubs ALOT. He focuses on the cubs mostly because he is a cubs fan. People will tell you he is stupid and a moron. But I find that unfair. He is just a crazy cubs fan. Maybe not stupid and a moron, but he finds these little details and blows them up into a holy crusade. I've never seen a guy who can take something as minor as which foot a guy led off first base with, and turn it into an hour of ranting and raving about why the manager should be fired. It's patently ridiculous at times. That said, I still listen to him, so Murph wins. Mike Murphy is ignorant and awful. He knows nothing. He's a knee-jerk, conventional wisdom spouting idiot. His is far and away the worst radio show I've ever heard. His opinions and questions are consistently dumb. He's an embarrasment. I wish he weren't a Cubs fan. He makes us all seem stupid by association. Hey, chill out. Atleast he's nice to cubs fans. I don't know about you but I never disagree with whoever he is spouting on about (MacPhail, Hendry, ect. .) I don't care if he's nice to Cubs fans. I don't care for his shallow and pedantic rants about Andy MacPhail ("F-A-I-L"). I don't care for his bits. I'd rather listen to someone intelligently breaking down things and using logic and reason to analyze a situation, than listening to a visceral knee jerk rant that never scratches the surface of insightful. I don't think I could possibly agree any more than I do.
  8. Nope. Worse, actually. He never was much of a hitter, but obviously he can't be that bad since he has had a regular job in the majors for a long time. Neifi Perez and Rey Ordonez want to talk to you.
  9. He is overrated I dont think he sucks. I know he isnt ideal, but I mean honestly Pierre and Soriano would be spectacular. Thats why I wanted Lofton in the offseason. Nobody and Pierre could add up to spectacular. Not even ARod and Pierre, or Pujols and Pierre.
  10. Isn't he slightly ahead of Greg Maddox? Who?
  11. I think Brian Giles was a decent example of a player like that.
  12. Thats a pretty ridiculous comment. In so many ways.
  13. David

That wasn't in free agency though-big difference. True. But not a 4 year and $102 million difference.

The fact that I find it hard to strongly argue against his "Hall=Soriano" assessment makes me particularly sad, knowing that Hall just signed for $24 mil over 4 years. :x
  15. Oh I see, we are starting players based on their Cy Young voting. Lets pick up David Eckstein while we're at it, he's got a World Series MVP so I can't see how he can fail. You might actually want to read the thread...
  16. Not even close. :? As a non-Bears fan, are you even qualified to chime in? Hmmm...
  17. The Bulls didn't even get parades....all we got was footage of the Bulls heading to Grant Park in coach buses, while MJ went on his own in his Ferrari. Lame.
  18. Lovie was a first-year coach. Berrian, Tank and Vasher were rookies. Ogun, Urlacher, Tillman and Grossman were hurt. Craig Krenzel was the starting QB. No Moose or Benson or Mark Anderson. I could keep going. Of course, a good portion of the media would probably have you believe that Craig Krenzel is no worse than Rex. Also, just to add, no Hester in 2004, who I think will be a huge factor in this game.
  19. Press availability ended today. Where did you see this? I saw him in an interview this morning and he looked alright. Maybe he was just sleepy 8-) It happened today. He said it this morning...they just played the audio clip on the radio. Lovie also shot back at the press when they asked him about the Rex criticism...he more or less responded, "The criticism is what it is, next question." Rex might've taken a cue from Lovie. Of course, they might've just been tired, like you said. Either way, I like it.
  20. Oh man... Grossman accused the reporters of just wanting to sell newspapers and basically sensationalizing stories. Called them "ignorant." I love it. I really do, because, for the most part, it's the truth. The very same press is going to hammer him tomorrow, though.
  21. Really, it was Hub who was fanning the flames on that one. BTW - I can't say I'd be completely disappointed if Lovie went to the Cowboys for multiple first rounders and Rivera took over as head coach. Of course, I'd love to keep Lovie around. But in the NFL, multiple first round picks are huge. Just for sake of discussion...Imagine adding 4 first round talents to this team in the next two years. Of course, one or more could always bust. How did that work out for the Raiders? I think that's a disastrous idea. It doesn't suprise me to hear Hub Arkush thinks its a good one.....he's another guy who has been wrong about Lovie and wrong about this team the entire time. I'm sorry, but one failed example isn't enough to convince me that it's a bad idea. While coaching in the NFL is more important than in other sports, talent on the field is still the most important factor in terms of winning football games. If you can add premiere talent in exchange for a coach, and then promote a coach out of your own system who you have every reason to believe is very qualified to take the position (Chico), you have to, at the very least, consider it. You'd be doing yourself a disservice not to. Do you mean to tell me you have no interest whatsoever in adding more of that caliber of talent to this team?
  22. Not that we don't already have enough pictures of the Bears in Miami on here, but a friend of mine that goes to Miami took these and I figured I'd pass them on. http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu4.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu5.jpg
