  1. After yesterday's game, I don't mind the disrespect at all. The team may or may not be inspired by it, but it certainly doesn't hurt anything. At the very least, they like to say they're inspired by it. On top of that, the Colts probably SHOULD be favored over the Bears. But I think the Bears can definitely win this game. The defense just has to come to play again.
  2. Anyone ordered one of these yet?
  3. Well, at least the national media will have something they enjoy covering instead of having to write about these boring crappy Bears. Not to veer off the thread topic, but I really don't understand how the Bears have gotten this reputation as a boring team. Granted, it might be because I'm a Bears fan, but I find the way this team plays incredibly fun to watch. On the other hand, I didn't find the 2005 team nearly as exciting. The offense was boring, and the team just eeked out victories with their defense for the most part. This year's team, though? A big play defense (the only part of this equation that's really a constant from last year). An offense that can make the big play. A punishing, exciting RB in Benson. An unprecedented ability to run balls back on special teams. This team has completely and thoroughly dominated the opposition several times this year.
  4. Exactly. One thing I love about Rex is that he hasn't been shy to pick on weaker defensive players at all this year. The Giants game was another example of this. Rex just kept going after the guy in the second half, regardless of what receiver the guy was covering. Was it Sam Madison? Corey Webster? Granted, you don't want to be predictable in where you're going, but if there's a weakness, I love the idea that we're going to relentlessly attack and try to exploit it.
  5. I seriously doubt that made a lick of difference. Do the Bears D have to get taunted to play hard and effective? No, they just need to play a team with a better defense, like the Saints, to get inspired. I love it.
  6. And I hope Hendry is right about Izturis. But, I'm very, very skeptical that Izturis will be any better with a bat than the worst SS's in the league. if he stays healthy & plays great defense, does it really matter what he hits? the sox & cards won the WS with guys who had .713 & .694 ops's respectively. Of course it matters. That black hole in the lineup has more of an impact than anything he does on defense, no matter how good his glove is. Those teams may have won with those shortstops, but it wasn't because of them.
  7. Jeran at the Bears.com boards put together & posted this awesome, IMO, background/desktop pic. Just thought I'd pass it along to you guys in case anyone wants it. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g114/thenaughties/bearssbxli_wp2.jpg?t=1169459494
  8. Pinch me. I still can't believe it. Wow. The Bears are in the biggest game of the year. The biggest sporting event in the country, if not the world. Just going to try to enjoy this for the bye and then start worrying about the Super Bowl next week. 8-)
  9. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA I gave the Saints much too much credit. GO HOME BUMS
  10. Ah, the annual pre-spring training "Z loses weight" discussion.
  11. Did you consider going into the hallway and shorting out one of the electrical outlets with a paperclip? Thats playing with fire man. What if he shorted out the power for the building, then no TV today. Good point.
  12. Yea, there's been a bit of a freezing drizzle off and on for the last couple hours.
  13. Did you consider going into the hallway and shorting out one of the electrical outlets with a paperclip?
  14. I love it.
  15. Do they have NFC/AFC Championship MVPs? I honestly can't remember.
  16. IIRC, according to some reports that was the off-season where he made some adjustments and got his velo up to where he could touch 99. (I'll look it up to make sure) Heh. I had forgotten about that. I remember getting really excited at the prospect of that. Now I'd give up a body part (well, not any) just to get the 2003 Prior back...
  17. Jeez, they hand those things out like candy these days. Meh. It's not like we have much to lose if we can't trade him. If he's good, we won't want to trade him. If he struggles, we're just paying him a couple mil/year. I've seen the Cubs waste much more money than that. It's sort of like Prior now, actually. He's not making much, and with the uncertainty, he's not worth all that much, yet some people want to get rid of him at all costs, for whatever reason. Makes no sense to me.
  18. Not to nitpick, but the last time Prior was healthy and pitching well was the beginning of '05. Then a line drive hit his elbow. He did pretty well the rest of that season, but at the start he really was looking like 2003 Prior.
  19. Doesn't look like last year he was throwing off the mound even by the 3rd week of February. He's well ahead of that pace this year.
  20. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Prior was in a hospital around this time last year. He was nowhere near throwing off a mound. He didn't even do that until a few weeks into spring training.
  21. If he is, I hope it's because he proves to be qualified as a coach and not because he's a former Bear with, obviously, major ties to the 85 team.
  22. Just thought I'd add these particular quotes. VERY nice to hear. Hopefully they're not blowing smoke.
  23. I don't think personal transactions count.
