  1. Wind will limit the passing games without slowing the track. How about we hope for that?
  2. Perhaps if the Bears had actually played well in such conditions you'd have a point. The Bears are the more talented team, and they are the faster team. Crappy weather is a disadvantage. not like seattle has played well on a much better surface But the bad surface levels the playing field for them. It makes the better team less likely to perform as well as it can.
  3. I don't mind the cold, at all. It'll make the hard hits from teh defense hurt even more. I don't, however, want any part of snow or rain. Bad conditions favor the less talented team. Plus, a soggy field will make it tough for our speed oriented defense. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that that storm will miss us.
  4. Just curious, if you're wanting a QB taken, does that mean you're ready to be done with Orton? I'm just curious because I don't know if we've found out exactly what we have in the guy. His lows were nowhere near the lows that Rex has had this year (although admittedly the highs were nowhere near the highs Rex has had either). I'm just wondering if this year has helped his development at all, and what the coaching staff thinks of him. I won't cry if he's gone though. Maybe he never hit the 0 rating mark, but his 5 interception game against the Bengals was pretty darn bad. It was after that that they really started to handcuff him and played not to lose in the passing game (not that they were airing it out like crazy before).
  5. Agreed. Danieal just has to get better at reading the field and recognizing when he has to go where. That should come with experience. He's got the tools to be a good Cover 2 safety.
  6. True. But at a certain point, doesn't the increased severity itself take it past the realm of "pull" and toward a "strain" or "tear?" As we saw with the Prior situation, the ambiguity of terminology with these types of injuries can be used to mislead the public pretty easily.
  7. Does anyone think Brown's injury last year was more than a calf pull? It was such a strange deal. I always thought it was something else, related to his achilles maybe (was it the same leg?), and the team just kept it under wraps... It was just so odd. Happened in practice, didn't it? So nobody really saw how it happened. He missed how many games? And he seemed to force his way back for the playoffs, but how long did he stay in for at that point? I don't remember exactly...did he even make it a quarter? a half? How bad could a pulled calf be that it would put him in a walking boot and keep him out for over a month? Not suggesting anything; just thinking aloud. His injury this year had nothing to do with it...not saying it did. But the 2005 injury was so strange to me.
  8. I can't agree with this. How many chances did Grossman have inspite of injuries? I think Browny deserves at least one more shot. I don't know a ton about how the salary cap works, but Grossman doesn't/didn't have a huge contract like Brown's that could (possibly?) be dropped to keep Lance Briggs around. There was nothing to lose by keeping him around. Actually, it sort of reminds me of the argument that comes up when a few posters want to cut Prior here. Why? Plus, QB has been a historically difficult position for this franchise (any team, really) to fill. Grossman really only had two seasons ended by injury. I have always laughed when people call his 2003 injury in the final game a "season ender." On the other hand, I have a pretty good deal of confidence in JA's ability to fill Brown's position through the later rounds of the draft. He has shown, time and again, the ability to make good draft picks, particularly at hte non-skill positions in later rounds. That's not to say I don't want Mike Brown around. He was my favorite player for a few years, and he's one of our leaders on defense...but he's making a lot of money, is getting older and has been dealing with the same types of injuries for 3 years now. It's definitely worrisome.
  9. OK. How about 8 games with a rating over 98? And 23 TD passes, good for 7th in the NFL.
  10. :( I don't get it. IIRC, if he's put on the IR he can't come off until the next season. Meaning he wouldn't be able to play at all next year. He'll be back next season.. He's on IR for this season, not next. Even that quote just says that he won't be eligible to play before next season. In fact, the injury wasn't as bad as had been feared and he's ahead of schedule in his recovery.
  11. You could wish the same suffering on mhuber (and later on, OMC or Truffle), instead.
  12. I think a playoff game would mean a lot to the confidence of this team and its fans. I'd like to share with you guys an image from out last match up. I'd like to say I made it, but it shows...a less than stellar play by our Charles Tillman. Don't get me wrong, he's had a great season, but at the time it was priceless: http://photos.pe.facebook.com/v62/69/118/1949429/n1949429_34800795_9735.jpg EDIT: Yea, there is another bye week before the Super Bowl. Its fairly new I think.[/img] Call me crazy, but I think I remember hearing that this wasn't really Tillman's fault. He was supposed to cover on an underneath route and Jackson became the free safety's responsibility deep. Basic Cover 2, right? I could easily be wrong, though...
  13. Anxiously awaiting the passing of our bye week before the Super Bowl... Ok call me crazy for not knowing this but there is ANOTHER bye week before the super bowl? Hey if that is the case, then I am all about it!!!! There usually is...but I think last year they might've gotten rid of it. Too lazy to check if there is or isn't one this year. 8-)
  14. Anxiously awaiting the passing of our bye week before the Super Bowl...
  15. Expect the Bears to make that happiness wear off big time in about 6 days.
  16. I was at that game. Drove down to Cincy just for the game, drove back home the same night. Wrote a paper and set up a presentation for another class on the way back.
  17. You could always take a radio and an earphone to the Christening... Gotta think outside the box...
  18. BTW... I'd rather keep our leading scorer than get the constantly injured Jermaine O'Neal.
  19. Oh, crap... the Bulls are playing? I was too caught up with playoff football...
  20. Can't do anything about Tommie and Mike Brown, but Tillman and Vasher will both be playing (and Hester will be nowhere near the defense) for the first time in quite a while, if I remember right.
  21. meh, I would have preferred the 3PM game. Same. I'd have also preferred the Saturday night game... Prefer the primetime slots. I'll be there. Won't be home in time for the 24 kickoff either. Oh well, it's worth it. Nice! I can't say that I'm jealous that you'll be sitting out there in the cold... Can't say that I'm not jealous either, though. :D 24? Got TiVo???

  23. Yeah I read that in the Tribune too. Seems like they're preparing harder than they have in over a month. Hopefully it pays off. +1 I've heard the same.
  24. I wish. Not gonna happen, though.
