  1. That line graph had to jump up a little bit.
  2. Izturis, how sad is it that the at bat vs Farnsworth (03, I think) is probably the offensive highlight of his career? I could be wrong, but I think you're thinking of Alex Cora. And I think it was against Clement in 04. But again, I could be completely wrong. My memory on that one is foggy. What keeps coming to mind with Farnsworth was the low and away slider (3-2?) that Julio Franco crushed to right center after a bunch of fouls.
  3. http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1994/B05220CHN1994.htm My first Cubs game. All I remembered was that they announced that the Bulls had lost Game 7 to the Knicks, and that Derrick May hit a HR to win it in extras. I had no idea what was going on. I didn't care much about sports until I was 12 or 13.
  4. huh? That comes from some asinine quote by Paul Sullivan: Sullivan pointlessly threw in Pie's numbers with 2 strikes as a reason why he shouldn't be playing. Wow. WTH? That's about the dumbest use of statistics I've ever seen. I can't believe even he would do that. Again, WTH? I'm at a loss for words.
  5. agreed on the offense. Derrek Lee leads the NL in average but is tied for 10th in RBI. That's the season in a nutshell That's as much a problem with Lee's SLG than anything else. He ranks 11th in SLG, and that's completely propper up by an unsustainable AVG. He went 20 games without a HR, and has only 1 more in the 10 games since. Lots and lots of doubles, though.
  6. I was at that one.
  7. You can't be serious...
  8. LMAO at the last 3 or 4 posts.

    aaa iowa

i dont know. maybe because the cubs only have 1 left handed starter in jones or pie when murton plays (which he should be doing every day imo). So? They need more hitters, not necessarily LH. There is no great need for LH hitters. If anything they need a RH bat that can platoon with Jones. This
  10. I can vouch. Did you grab him by the tie? If I was there, I would've. That's how money that look is.
  11. A- Corey isnt worth that much. His lifetime OBP is lower than Neifi Perez's now. The guy is just a bum. B- We thankfully dont need more OFs. C- I would become a Cardinal fan. (ok, i wouldnt...but i would be very very angry.) On a happy note, Jon Leicester was one of the guys brought up to replace some of the Orioles DL cats. Nice to see him reappear after some serious type surgery. Hopefully he will do well. Corey is no Alex Sanchez, after all. Don't forget that the bum doesn't care!
  12. Wouldn't be surprised? That's the lineup I'm expecting. At least the crap is usually reserved for the bottom spots now instead of the top two.

Why, exactly, are we in such dire need of left handed bats in the lineup?
  14. Considering it was probably one of the best ever (especially his second half), I wasn't remotely surprised.
  15. Hendry 2003-2004 - Good (outside of hiring Dusty and his boys) Hendry 2005-present - Bad /thread
  16. One loss and all the good feelings generated over the past week and a half are gone, huh? LOL I don't know if was the loss itself last night, or the way we lost. The bottom of the 8th was some of the worst baseball I have ever seen in my life. Even the very best teams in the league will lose games looking awful...and the worst teams will look great in some games. It's inevitable with a 162 game schedule and the nature of the game. Last night's game doesn't tell me anything I didn't know about the team before the night began. Thank god for you. I tell myself that everyday.
  17. Having 2001 Sammy and 2005 D-Lee is pretty solid.

  19. Funny thing is, after the signing went on there, I felt obliged to go on there and warn them about how bad it was gonna be. I got flamed to no end, outside of a little support from a couple of more SABR-oriented fans.

  21. Juan Pierre is just so bad at baseball. It amazes me that he even has a job in the majors, let alone a job as an everyday player getting paid $9 mil/year.
  22. My run ends at 5-1. Hopefully, I don't start another game thread the rest of the year... or, at least, not until the playoffs.
