  1. YEAH WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN HIT 5th! NOT 6th! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD YOU GUYS!!!
  2. http://www.car-accidents.com/ Still want your $90 million supposed ace and leader farting around in one of these?
  3. I thought they went through the other league before their own. I guess I could be wrong on that. it's the other way around. same league first, then other league.
  4. the word filter should never allow "rbi" to appear on this website again.
  5. right? i mean, we're still trying to recover from those ted lilly and rich harden deals. those ones set us back about 5 years. at least. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON DERREK LEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. OMG SAMESIES!!!! I don't know how many times I said last year that the cubs should trade Soriano, Zambrano, and Ramirez for David Eckstein, Jeff Weaver, and Yadier Molina!!!!! I don't know why no one listens to me. Keep fighting the good fight!
  7. god. the [expletive] all stars came out to play in this thread. its hard to believe were a half game out of first place. stupid cubs trading mark derosa to the cardinals. might as well have just traded them the division championship.
  8. Irrelevant also, the Cubs are done guys - don't expect any more moves. thanks for the heads up
  9. I think he had better worry about making the playoffs first. Actually, the Cubs have needed another lefty in the bullpen since Cotts imploded. Gorzelanny and Marshall add a lot of depth to the starting rotation in case of injuries, poor performance, or team matchups. Also, don't forget the impact of this trade on the future. If Grabow doesn't meet expectations, he could net the Cubs 2 draft picks. Marshall and Gorzelanny could step right in as possible starters if Harden isn't resigned. Who's going to sign Grabow if they have to sacrifice 2 picks to get him? The signing team would only surrender 1 pick. If they're in the bottom half of the league it wouldn't be a 1st rounder, and if they're in the top half of the league it's possible they sign more than 1 type A possibly pushing Grabow's compensation back to a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It's possible. Ah, right. I forgot they'd only give up one pick. Still, though, wasn't there a group of players that had a really hard time finding a team in the off-season because no one wanted to give up a pick? If the Cubs were to offer him arbitration, I'm not sure he wouldn't take it.

  11. this is so [expletive] stupid. leave the poor guy alone.
  12. ugh someone i work with is trying to tell me that monday night was one of lou's best-managed games all year, leaving zambrano in to hit and then immediately taking him out was brilliant, and so was the hit and run with soriano and bradley. #-o
  13. Here's a nice article about the four Illini freshman, as well as Stan Simpson. It talks a lot about Frazier, as well, and his involvement with the players this summer. http://www.herald-review.com/articles/2009/07/26/columnists/tupper/1042711.txt
  14. haha not sure if someone already shared this link http://wrigleyville23.com/2009/07/steve-stones-creepy-little-world.html
  15. I don't know if this makes any sense, but any chance that his mechanics were thrown off in his last start because his knee was bothering him, and that this contributed to him aggravating his shoulder?
  16. Damn it. Beaten to the punch.
  17. Your clearly just trying to bait us, but I will bite anyways. Illinois is coming out of a down cycle, and we have still made the tournament 9 out of the last 10 years. There is plenty of reason for Illini fans to feel good about upcoming years with the recruiting we have done. So yes I am excited, and no I am not ready to order the banners yet. To touch on a previous point by Sully.... Weber going out and starting the recruiting process with 8th and 9th graders is brilliant as it keeps Illini fans in a constant state of "just a year away" fantasy land. Not that I'm rooting against you guys.....I'd love for just about any Big Ten team to win it all again. Eh, the approach is still untested, as no one who was recruited in this manner has played a game for Illinois yet. Actually, I don't remember how early on Weber began pursuing Bertrand, Paul, Richardson, and Griffey. I believe the 2010 class is the first one in which Weber implemented this strategy. It'll still be a while before we see how this pays off, but the way the three prospects from that class are maturing, it seems like much more than some sort of ploy to keep Illini fans at ease.
  18. http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/ If the opinion is any indication, Leonard could be a very special player for Illinois. I didn't foresee him turning into such a highly touted prospect when he verbally committed, but after what I have been reading about him lately, I am very excited about the Illini's 2010 recruiting class. I can't wait until November to get Leonard, Richmond, and Head signed. I have been having a hard time finding a definitive answer as to how tall Leonard is. I've seen 6-10, 6-11, and 7-0. Anyone have any idea how tall he actually is?
  19. Wouldn't Gooden's departure end talks of an Amare deal, because he would have been the piece to provide the salary relief that Phoenix was seeking?
  20. They still might be trying to trade Jenks, too. They've made some moves that could put them in a good spot a few years down the road, but I've got to believe that these trades are also part of a plan for this off-season. I wonder who Kenny Williams has in mind.
  21. lol stacey king wet himself over that crossover
