  1. I would have fired him just for thinking about bringing a priest with holy water into the dugout/clubhouse.
  2. Think its too soon to ask to interview Cherington?
  3. ........So, we could in theory get Theo to be the president, Friedman to be the GM, Hoyer to be the Assistant GM, and Rick Haun to pick Theo's nose? Edit: Is there a reason they can't just use a PTBNL that way they can complete this and do the rest of the negotiations behind the scenes? If the Cubs are already acting like he's theirs, and the Red Sox are already acting like he's gone, and Theo is already planning his hires, and there is already a contract in place....it isn't like this is a make or break issue and nobody knows whether Theo is going or not. It seems like this is exactly the scenario that the PTBNL was created for.
  4. water is much more valuable to sustaining human life, but yet diamonds cost more. riiiiiiiiiight
  5. I'm really tired of hearing about Sandberg. All we did was offer the job to the more qualified candidate. He's the one that threw a hissy fit and ran off to the Phillies despite us offering him his job back. He should be building statues of the Cubs in his backyard in hopes that we forgive him.
  6. The extra innings walk-off homerun on the final weekend of the season in 2004 to that Met's player that I still haven't heard of since strikes me as more tragic than the Brant Brown play. Still gotta love the "Ohhhh nooo", though.
  7. Time to lock him up. 5 years 150 mil.
  8. He could have been a first ballot hall of famer by unanimous vote if every voter decided to give him a sympathy vote.
  9. If he woulda just quit while he was ahead he could be getting hall of fame votes by now.
  10. They have a pretty rough August schedule coming up and they look about dead right now. That'd really suck if they manage to rally and finish below us in the standings.
  11. The Pirates fans that haven't watched baseball in 15 years need to re-learn all of this stuff. They're just trying to help.
  12. pfft...I've seen it on MLB The Show like a million times.
  13. Can we just add Josh Hamilton to this board's list of censored words?
  14. I've been there 6 or 7 times. Its definitely my favorite of parks Ive been to, although I'm planning on going to pac bell soon.
  15. Oh. I....see your point. I'd still like to keep him for mancrush reasons, though.
  16. Why not trade Barney? Sure he'd probably only net us a middle reliever or something, but will his value ever be really higher than that? I doubt he's our second baseman in our next playoff appearance.
  17. The best option would just be to keep Aramis for another 2-3 years, I'd think.
  18. in either 2004 or 2005 the Cubs were offered Tejada for Prior by the Orioles, I believe a straight up trade, and they declined. Seems like nearly everybody agreed with declining the trade at the time, so it seems silly to mention as one of Hendry's worst moves. edit: Now that I think about it, I think the Cubs wanted one of their pitchers, too. I think he later got traded to Seattle. Can't think of the name. I think the Orioles ended up declining the Cubs on that.
  19. I would think that if I were typing this topic out, I would have realized that it was stupid and not hit the submit button long before I was ever finished with the post.
  20. and what about Nomar? Nothing beat seeing Nomar in a Cubs uniform for those 4 or 5 days he actually played.
  21. He can always say he won't accept a trade unless it is picked up.
  22. That call was horrible, but I don't even think it was more annoying than Hawk's call on every home run Baseball is so fun when it actually means something :(
  23. I don't think it is unfair to criticize Selig for the ASG choosing home field advantage. There is no perfect way to do it, but best record is far and away the best way to do it. It should have been changed from alternating to best record. It wasn't. Selig's fault. And when it was implemented it was supposed to be a four year test. I have heard nothing but negative feedback about the ASG selecting home field advantage and it is still around 8 years later.
  24. Really though, Ramirez causes us no problems off the field at all and has been one of the best in the game at his position since we acquired him in 2003. I have no idea why he receives any hate at all.
  25. He didn't run hard when he popped out, and he sucked at defense 8 years ago. and his skin is darker than Kaplan's.
