  1. 87) by the time #78 comes around people will have realized that it turns your number into a smiley face and will do something to prevent it 86) (I'll do a 2 for one since that last one didn't count) Both Hendry and Baker are in contract years, so they will both want to win it all this year. Also this is Maddux's last year in the majors, giving him more incentive to win.
  2. 90) Patterson, Perez not starting
  3. Now you are stretching it. Nobody expected Derrek to have the season he had. He hit 6th the first week or so of the season, and nobody complained. He was soon moved to 3rd-4th and stayed there the rest of the season.
  4. Now this is a guy I'd be worried about playing over Murton. Dusty might like his "grittiness" or something. Its so sad that we have to constantly worry about that.
  5. Hendry's unwillingness to trade Pie may be the world's biggest blessing ever.
  6. Looks like Prior is indeed on the table. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/features/rumors I'm curious about these elbow troubles....has this been proved? He had issues with the ulnar nerve in 2004. So it's more than just the line drive off his elbow -- there have been structural concerns. Simply wrong. The trouble in his elbow was in a completely different area than the ulnar. An MRI was taken of his elbow and it showed that his ulnar nerve was "thick and strong"
  7. this is so stupid. I just don't get it. If Hendry is so excited about the possibility of getting Tejada that he is willing to trade Prior, why didn't he just sign him when he was available? If this trade goes down I will seriously consider whether or not to just say screw the Cubs.
  8. If this happens Hendry deserves fired, and to have all the money we have given him so far to be taken away. And then he deserves spit on.
  9. He knew that Jones was coming up and said 'why bother'? I don't know why but that made me laugh histerically. ...then cry. btw, the game they used for that freaking RULES
  10. TC3 is not getting ripped for being optimistic and you know it. He is being ripped because he ripped other people's opinions, said offensive things about players, and then made up bad excuses to why Jones might not suck. Thats bull. Patterson is far from the worst player we have ever seen. He played poorly, yes. But he is actually one of the more gifted athletes any of us have ever seen. I don't see how he hasn't been ripped to shreds for saying this. Have we all forgotten Todd Hundley so quickly? Then he continues his idiocy by calling the K comparrisons "nonsense," backing it up by saying that he doesn't K as much as Patterson. Who cares? That would be like me saying that Patterson doesn't K that much compared to Adam Dunn. Patterson never, ever said that. Putting words like that in a player's mouth is 10 times more offensive than calling somebody's post moronic on a message board. Also, its impossible to say that "JJ" will never say that. Since WHEN does Burnitz not have a glove? Thats the best part of his game. Burnitz is also a "gamer" and "leaves it all out on the field." I'm sure this means TC3 would love to have him replace Murton in left. I also really loved how he put ", etc." at the end to cover up for the fact that he couldn't think of any valid argument. I could go on. But I was simply trying to make the point that TC3 was getting ripped for putting together a weak argument and doing it in an arrogant way, not because he was being optomistic.
  11. haha, thats really funny. I still hate the guy though. :)
  12. But not as good. Last I saw, Pie is hitting a blazing .208 in winter ball. So? Macias was hitting like .375 It means nothing.
  13. I would also like to submit a no answer.
  14. Who here thinks that if Prior got on a personal jet and it crashed over the Florida everglades, everybody would blame the injury on his mechanics?
  15. If you took away the ball, it'd just be a group of men in pyjamas standing around in a field. there's still swinging a bat and running the bases. you can at least go thru the motions of baseball without the ball, but you can't do anything in poker without cards. You could pretend you have cards.... Everyone would have pocket aces.
  16. He's more prone to being hurt by line drives heading right at him at high speed than anyone I've ever seen. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from my 2005 calculations: Cub pitchers who missed time due to taking line drives off the hand/arm: 3 (Prior, Borowski, Fox) Pitchers from the other 29 teams who missed time due to taking line drives anywhere: 1 (Halladay TOR) I don't recall Borowski or Fox getting hit by a batted ball. Fox blew out his arm throwing a pitch. I really wish that hadn't happened :(
  17. "Trade Wood for...." also, that Yankees/Cards trade at the beginning was just about the most horribly lopsided trade I've ever seen. I hate Yankee fans :x
  18. Not only do I disagree with what you said, I disagree with the whiney way that you put it, and I think it was in the wrong topic. I find that blaming Hendry for "losing out" on a player that had no desire to play anywhere but San Diego to be incredibly........"bad". That or you had no real facts to back up your claim, so you used that to make it seem more legit. Of course, if you do that you have to realize that Jockety actually was interested in Giles too. HMMMMMMM... I guess that makes him a bad GM too, eh?
  19. my god, shut up. Wow, if that's your attitude to somebody who is expressing their dislike for their off-season and rightly so maybe you should follow your own advice. No, that is my attitude towards somebody who is being ridiculous and needs to shut up. Although, I guess he is kind of right. I mean, Giles really should have been on our radar, and the fact that he signed back with San Diego for much less than what he could have gotten doesn't lead me to believe that he wanted to play there and only there at all!
  20. Found this funny. A small chunk is about the Cubs too: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2261063
  21. He never really played too poorly for us.
  22. We'll let Z pitch Game 6. OR we could have Prior pitch innings 1-5 and Z pitch 6-9. Naw, Dusty would probably have Veres pitch instead. at least I think thats who he put into game 7 instead of Clement
