  1. You're ignoring their ages again.
  2. Theriot as a strictly RH hitter AA (Age 25, heinously old): .304/.365/.391/.756 AAA (Age 26): .304/.367/.379/.746 Cedeno AA (Age 21, appropriate or slightly young): .279/.321/.401/.722 AAA (Age 22): .355/.403/.518/.921 AAA (Age 24): .359/.422/.537/.959
  3. I think there's room to make fun of Gary for looking down at the series of tubes known as sabermetrics and still appreciate him as a great scout.
  4. From my memory, Lou made some comment about DeRosa being out of position or something, which is why he never went back there.
  5. Wow? I didn't ignore the age of the players, because the age of Cedeno and Theriot is insignificant - unless the Cubs are banking on either one of the two guys to being the SS of their future. So, why should the Cubs suffer through having Cedeno learn "on the job?" Sure he has plenty of talent, but mentally he is not a mature player - as you can tell if you note his baserunning miscues, his mental errors defensively, and his mindless approach at the plate. I'd love for Cedeno to pull it all together and take the SS job, but until that happens Theriot is best option on the Cubs roster. It's not a "man crush" or hate for Cedeno. Because you don't lose anything, Theriot is already the baseline of performance. If Cedeno fails, then he's Theriot.
  6. He was hands down the best pitcher on the market. 2007 Cordero? Or the rest of his career Cordero where he's pretty average?
  7. I have a feeling if we re-do this poll in March that Colletti will run away with it.
  8. GRIT. Wow, I thought that was bad, some of the posts in that thread are calling/hoping for Bedard for Kemp/LaRoche/Kershaw/Broxton. All of them. On second look, that might be Bedard + Tejada. But still, even Colletti has to have limits, right?
  9. I don't know why I'm continuing to read this Orioles Hangout thread, it's just making me angry how much they want from us for Roberts. Not that we don't do the same thing, but it's slightly annoying to read Pie + Gallagher + Prior as a merely adequate package for Brian "Mark DeRosa + stolen bases + leftyness" Roberts.
  10. If we get Roberts, trade DeRosa. He's got to have quite a bit of value with his production the last two years at his contract. Who needs a 2B that has a SS we could use, or is shopping a SP?
  11. Quite a bit of hate for the Bills considering they're a game out of a playoff spot in the AFC.
  12. By then they will have unloaded Rolen and Edmonds. They found a way to pay Pujols and Carpenter, I'd bet they'd find a way to pay Bedard. Neither of those players hit the open market. Unless Bedard's lying, he'll get to free agency, and there's no way the Cards retain him in that case.
  13. Bedard's pretty much on record saying that he's going to test free agency no matter what though. He's not going to make the Cards contenders before that happens, and then he'll be getting his payday, which we know won't be coming from St. Louis.
  14. Are we really arguing grammar? If you say the full name, then not putting "the" in there sounds dumb. If you abbreviate the name, then putting "the" in there sounds dumb.
  15. 7 consecutive field goals from the two teams that I have fantasy QB's on. Carson Palmer needs to jump off a bridge.
  16. Rolen didn't start one of the 2006 playoff(NLCS?) games and was not happy about it. Whether that qualifies as TLR or Rolen starting it, I'm not sure.
  17. Is there any defensive metric that doesn't? They all seem relatively unreliable to me. If there is, which? If there isn't, which is the best? I can't find it anymore, but there was a pretty good article that compared several advanced fielding metrics, and Rate2 was easily the worst. It's not a surprise, since I'm pretty sure it doesn't use PBP data.
  18. Perry was the 3rd or 4th wideout last year when he got those accolades. Maclin was healthy this year and Alexander(who's a superior athlete/physical specimen) leaped him in the depth chart with a great summer/season.
  19. I can't imagine the spread will be very much. Both should be in the Top 15 or even Top 10. Mizzou loses a couple offensive weapons, but that means more playing time for people like Perry(who was a Freshman All-America then got bumped to 5th WR because of depth) and Alexander. Daniel is back to lead the offense, and there's going to be 9-10 returning defensive starters.
  20. Doesn't look like it. Yeah, looks like the Athletic Dept. straight up lied when it said that game was almost sold out on Thursday. I don't think the icy roads kept 6,000 away. Great finish to pull out the win though, the crowd finally came to life late in the second half. It was nice to have the last laugh over the Purdue students who were making noise up in the nosebleeds.
  21. We can gamble in the OF with what we have(Pie and/or Murton) without giving up resources to do so.
  22. Expansion draft. Kevin Stocker for Abreu, makes me laugh every time.
  23. Mizzou/Purdue on ESPN2 this afternoon. Hopefully they have a better showing than the last two fiascos(fiascoes?), there should be a pretty strong crowd on hand to welcome them back after no home games for a couple weeks.
  24. So they're covering the stadium with a shower curtain?
  25. Bradley and Jones are not comparable players, not even close. In the last 5 years, Bradley's lowest OBP was .350(among .421, .362, .370, and .402). Jones' highest was .335(the last of .333, .315, .319, .334). Bradley's lowest OPS+ was 108(147, 118, 114, 153 were the other 4), same as Jacque's highest(107, 89, 98, 87). Bradley's also a superior defender and baserunner.
