  1. Someone go make sure Raisin doesn't have any sharp objects.
  2. How does Darryl Butterfield keep touching the ball on offensive possessions at the end of games? It's staggering. I'd also like to punch Tom O'Neill in the throat.
  3. Why limit information? That's always something that's ancillary at best in a scouting report, and it can be useful in determining how good an athlete a player is, and therefore possibly how well they can make adjustments.
  4. That was an okay 1st half once Mizzou actually scored. It'd be nice if Trent Meachem would stop playing at a 25 ppg pace though.
  5. Lots of good games today. Georgetown @ Memphis now on ESPN, and Texas @ MSU later. Braggin' Rights tonight too, hopefully Mizzou wins, that'd be nice.
  6. Renaming Wrigley would be a bummer for a while, but it wouldn't be a big deal. If they rename it though, can they stick to a name for a couple decades? I'd rather not go down the "whatever the Giants park is called this week" road.
  7. Wright State beat Butler. And also lost to Marist and Valpo. We could keep doing this forever, but what it boils down to is determining how strong a mid-major Miami OH is. No matter how you divide their schedule, or their opponents' schedule, or their opponents' opponents' schedule, they aren't at the level where it's acceptable for a Big 10 team with tourney aspirations to lose to them at home.
  8. Does margin of victory matter if you're losing to Wright State? In Champaign that's a game Illinois simply has to have.
  9. Oh sure. You're first, but I explained a lot more detail! :D And in only 2 minutes more, impressive.
  10. For his career, the only difference in Blanton's splits is in BABIP.
  11. What a terrible offensive foul call against Pitt on that possession.
  12. You did miss that part, and also the part about the guy we had playing 2B last year not being able to repeat his production from last year. sounds familiar to what was said about him last year Even if DeRosa repeats, Roberts is a superior player. Click me Agreed that Roberts is the better player, but I'm thinking that DeRosa isn't going to play SS, in which case we're giving away trading chips for a marginal upgrade at 2B. The real upgrades need to be either at SS (preferably) or CF. It's a value proposition. With Roberts in tow, you can play DeRosa at SS(where he has value even if he regresses offensively), you can use him as that super-sub(where he replaces 300 PA's of replacement level production, and offers better than terrible protection against injuries), you can use his ability to mash against LHP to protect Pie(although that requires Kosuke playing some CF), or you can sell high on his performance the last two years to upgrade elsewhere.

  15. I guess they're taking whatever victories they can find in the Baltimore front office.
  16. If the Cubs want Blanton, they better hurry. My brother in NYC just heard Buster Olney on some station saying the Mets just offered: Carlos Gomez, Aaron Heilman, and Kevin Mulvey. And Olney thinks Beane will strongly consider it. After the Roberts deal happens (or should I say "if"), I don't see how we can match that offer. Pie, Marshall, Atkins seems pretty equivalent.
  17. It's better when you look at his platoon split. Obviously a Fuld/RH CF FA platoon(In a different thread I listed several other possibilities besides Clark) isn't ideal, but if we can really upgrade the rotation and/or SS in the process, it could be a cheap way to get league average production out of CF.
  18. http://wgnradio.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=120&Itemid=236 Back to this again. Wouldn't mind either, but would prefer Blanton. Blanton would look nice in the rotation. I guess we'd be giving up Pie for Blanton... Who the heck plays CF then? Looks like Figgins. Failing him, I would make it a platoon, getting a FA like Brady Clark to platoon with Fuld.
  19. I haven't really watched Bedard, but I think Hill's deceptive, repeatable delivery really helps him get K's. He's able to hide the ball long enough and have it come from the same slot that his fastball sneaks up on hitters who know the curve has great break.
  20. Yes, I also watched the regular season. "Leadoff hitter" is not a position, Soriano is fine there(others would be better, but it's not a "problem" that needs fixing). Dempster was fine as a closer last year and we have no less than 3 guys easily capable of replacing him in house if he gets hurt/implodes. And lastly, I don't care how many times the Cubs strike out if the production is there, and even then, they were 11th of 16 NL teams in K's. It's a matter of perception not being reality.
  21. I like the Crawford comparison. Not as good on the basepaths, but a much better defender.
