  1. GRIT. Wow, I thought that was bad, some of the posts in that thread are calling/hoping for Bedard for Kemp/LaRoche/Kershaw/Broxton. All of them. On second look, that might be Bedard + Tejada. But still, even Colletti has to have limits, right?
  2. I don't know why I'm continuing to read this Orioles Hangout thread, it's just making me angry how much they want from us for Roberts. Not that we don't do the same thing, but it's slightly annoying to read Pie + Gallagher + Prior as a merely adequate package for Brian "Mark DeRosa + stolen bases + leftyness" Roberts.
  3. If we get Roberts, trade DeRosa. He's got to have quite a bit of value with his production the last two years at his contract. Who needs a 2B that has a SS we could use, or is shopping a SP?
  4. Quite a bit of hate for the Bills considering they're a game out of a playoff spot in the AFC.
  5. By then they will have unloaded Rolen and Edmonds. They found a way to pay Pujols and Carpenter, I'd bet they'd find a way to pay Bedard. Neither of those players hit the open market. Unless Bedard's lying, he'll get to free agency, and there's no way the Cards retain him in that case.
  6. Bedard's pretty much on record saying that he's going to test free agency no matter what though. He's not going to make the Cards contenders before that happens, and then he'll be getting his payday, which we know won't be coming from St. Louis.
  7. Are we really arguing grammar? If you say the full name, then not putting "the" in there sounds dumb. If you abbreviate the name, then putting "the" in there sounds dumb.
  8. 7 consecutive field goals from the two teams that I have fantasy QB's on. Carson Palmer needs to jump off a bridge.
  9. Rolen didn't start one of the 2006 playoff(NLCS?) games and was not happy about it. Whether that qualifies as TLR or Rolen starting it, I'm not sure.
  10. Is there any defensive metric that doesn't? They all seem relatively unreliable to me. If there is, which? If there isn't, which is the best? I can't find it anymore, but there was a pretty good article that compared several advanced fielding metrics, and Rate2 was easily the worst. It's not a surprise, since I'm pretty sure it doesn't use PBP data.
  11. Perry was the 3rd or 4th wideout last year when he got those accolades. Maclin was healthy this year and Alexander(who's a superior athlete/physical specimen) leaped him in the depth chart with a great summer/season.
  12. I can't imagine the spread will be very much. Both should be in the Top 15 or even Top 10. Mizzou loses a couple offensive weapons, but that means more playing time for people like Perry(who was a Freshman All-America then got bumped to 5th WR because of depth) and Alexander. Daniel is back to lead the offense, and there's going to be 9-10 returning defensive starters.
  13. Doesn't look like it. Yeah, looks like the Athletic Dept. straight up lied when it said that game was almost sold out on Thursday. I don't think the icy roads kept 6,000 away. Great finish to pull out the win though, the crowd finally came to life late in the second half. It was nice to have the last laugh over the Purdue students who were making noise up in the nosebleeds.
  14. We can gamble in the OF with what we have(Pie and/or Murton) without giving up resources to do so.
  15. Expansion draft. Kevin Stocker for Abreu, makes me laugh every time.
  16. Mizzou/Purdue on ESPN2 this afternoon. Hopefully they have a better showing than the last two fiascos(fiascoes?), there should be a pretty strong crowd on hand to welcome them back after no home games for a couple weeks.
  17. So they're covering the stadium with a shower curtain?
  18. Bradley and Jones are not comparable players, not even close. In the last 5 years, Bradley's lowest OBP was .350(among .421, .362, .370, and .402). Jones' highest was .335(the last of .333, .315, .319, .334). Bradley's lowest OPS+ was 108(147, 118, 114, 153 were the other 4), same as Jacque's highest(107, 89, 98, 87). Bradley's also a superior defender and baserunner.
  19. Wow, at least give it to Beckum if you're going to get it wrong. And Crabtree won the Biletnikoff? Awful.
  20. Bruce Miles debunked any interest in Hamilton. Even if there was interest in Hamilton, getting him to platoon with Murton and signing Fukudome are not mutually exclusive(either can play CF). Aaron Rowand is much less of a sure thing than Fukudome.
  21. Maybe the better question is, what would adding Roberts and selling high on DeRosa do to help the offense/team?
  22. Those comments make it sound like it would be smart to give him a shot at starting at some point.
  23. It'd be really great if people would continue to accept and then pull out of the Arkansas job until about January 2 or so.
  24. Willis' defense independent numbers aren't exactly trending in the right direction. 2005: 6.47 K/9, 2.09 BB/9, 0.42 HR/9 2006: 6.45 K/9, 3.34 BB/9, 0.85 HR/9 2007: 6.40 K/9, 3.81 BB/9, 1.27 HR/9
  25. For some reason I'm thinking it was a San Diego/west coast newspaper.
