  1. Sorry, but Pie's minor league production blows Corey's out of the water, and everyone knows how much I hate Corey Patterson. Age 19 Patterson: .320/.354/.592/.946 at A- Pie: .299 .358 .442 .800 at A+ Patterson's best year, he's better than Pie in all aspects but patience, albeit at a lower level at the same age. Age 20 Patterson: .261/.329/.491/.820 at AA Pie: .304/.349/.554/.903 at AA Same level, same age, and Pie is significantly better than Corey. Age 21 Patterson: .253/.308/.387/.695 at AAA Pie: .283/.341/.451/.792 at AAA Again, same level, same age, and Pie's got an OPS around 100 points more than Patterson. And then he follows it up with a .362/.410/.563/.973 line in AAA at age 22. Pie's minor league numbers run circles around Corey's, there's no way around it.
  2. I don't understand why they'd want both Colvin and Pie. Their value(Colvin especially) is tied to being center fielders, you'd think they'd want some more pitching or one of our MLB ready infielders(Cedeno, EPatt).
  3. No. Not even close actually. No. Corey maybe if you ignore age, but certainly not Pie(even moreso when you consider age).
  4. Mizzou outshoots ISU from the field, from 3 Point land, and outrebounds them, but a 20 foul shot differential makes the difference and Mizzou loses by 5.
  5. Why? Why is it so upsetting to everyone to get 100 innings of league average production from the 5 spot as opposed to 200 innings of below average production? seriously? where are the other 100 innings that lieber can't go coming from? also, i don't think it's written in stone that a fat, oft-injured, 38 year old lieber is league average. Gallagher? Marshall? Hart? and are those guys going to be league average or better? you can't just say 100 average innings is better than 200 below average innings without taking into consideration the necessary 100 innings in the first scenario are probably going to be below average. You can't bash the alternatives for the "other" 100 IP as a reason not to get Lieber, because they're the ones going for 200 IP if we don't have him.
  6. I'd like to place an eleventy billion dollar bet on Ryan Braun not being the best fantasy hitter next year.
  7. Ryne Sandberg is my favorite Cub, I really don't want to have to hate him like I'm pretty sure I will if he managed the Cubs.
  8. Byrd's a much better option to platoon with Pie than Pagan. There won't be the temptation to take away at bats with the capability of "hitting" left handed, Byrd has better splits v. LHP(about average CF production against them for his career), and like his hitting, he's been either a bit above or a bit below average as a defensive CF.
  9. I like Fuld a lot better than Pagan as a 5th OF. He's a good defender rather than a fast defender(which makes people assume you're good defensively), and he's more useful offensively(can hit some RHP while Pagan is meh against both sides).
  10. Looks like a 20% LD% in Iowa, and 22% in Chicago.
  11. It's very, very rare to have a rotation as injury free as ours was last year. Sure, part of that is by design, with Marquis, Hill, and Zambrano being consistent innings eaters, but part of it is luck.
  12. Yes, the guy who took fewer pitches than anyone else on the team has a "good eye at the plate." never let facts get in the way of a good argument They don't have to be mutually exclusive. Theriot can have a very discriminating eye, but at the same time not see too many pitches because he doesn't have the pop to make pitchers pay, so they pound the strike zone against him.
  13. There's the Virginia Tech I expected to see. Now score some points. Lots of them in fact.
  14. Ah, so it's a numbering thing that's the difference.
  15. They might've, doesn't really matter as long as there's enough people on the line though. You need 5 interior linemen and a QB. You don't need 5 interior linemen. I believe in college you do. I don't believe so, in a couple different games Mizzou pretty much spaced 10 players equidistantly across the field(linemen in the slot and whatnot), and never got flagged for it. Never really gained much yardage either, but they did try it.

  17. They might've, doesn't really matter as long as there's enough people on the line though. Well that would mean they only had 4 OL plus the QB, which they didn't Yeah, I'm not smart. I don't know why I thought the insinuation was they only had 4 OL instead of 12 men on the field.

  19. A lot of mock drafts have Talib going to the Packers in the late 1st round, so I'm interested in seeing how he performs. So far, so good. I can't understand the hype around him. He constantly gets burned and is a poor tackler, or at least he has been in the games against Mizzou. He takes a few gambles and gets picks like he did in this game, but I think he's way overrated, and I'm not just saying it because hes a jayhawk. Yeah, the two times I saw Talib live I was really underwhelmed. And are you kidding me Glennon?
  20. I'd like to see Marmol given a shot to earn a spot if the alternatives are Dempster, Hart, Gallagher, etc.
  21. For a while there, Hendry was on the same plan. Not to the level that St. Louis has in the last 2 years.
  22. It's altogether sad and entertaining that the Cardinals have made reclamation projects their preferred way of acquiring players.
  23. These things are not mutually exclusive, in fact, they're closer to being correlated. 6 of the top 10 players in K's last year had OBP's above .385.
  24. A couple miscellaneous points. Renteria is two years older than Roberts, that's a big deal when you're trading for a 31 year old v. a 29 year old. Renteria is 10M this year with a 11M club option for '09, Roberts is 6.3M this year, 8M next year with free agency in '10. Regardless of Mitre, Nolasco, and Pinto's performance after the trade, they had significantly more value than Pierre when the deal was made. It was an epically bad deal.
  25. Rivalry game + Injured Pat White Whoever #5 for Oklahoma is just got clowned by Reynaud on that run.
