  1. Compared to who? Theriot doesn't get to that ball and two runs score either way. I didn't say that Theriot would have gotten to that ball, but if he did, I doubt it ends up in the stands. The thing is, he wouldn't get to it, so the runner scores from second either way.

  3. Looked like Ronny's back leg slipped as he was throwing that one.
  4. Theriot can't even make weak contact anymore, what's the deal
  5. My disdain for Memphis is reaching critical mass. I might consider rooting for KU to beat them if they get past UNC.
  6. I'm fascinated by the Tigers finding new and more creative ways to lose games.
  7. I don't know how I missed those South Park caricatures the first time, but I can't stop laughing at the Calipari one. Now it's time to pray for a UCLA-UNC final.
  8. Can someone talk to me about Marwin Gonzalez? 19 year old switch hitting shortstops in the MWL are a good thing, and he's off to a good start after a strong showing in Short Season ball. The only thing the search function provided was Ryno12 hearing that he probably wouldn't stick at SS. Is that true, and are there any other reports on his defense?
  9. I think seeing Livingston's injury is a little worse than crater knee. What's the plan of action for an injury like that though? Can you rebuild a kneecap?
  10. Strong pitching from Iowa Gallagher: 5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 5/1 K/BB, 1 HR, 75 pitches Cotts: 2 perfect IP, 3 K Ascanio: 1 perfect IP, 2 K
  11. Fox blacks out Saturday games before 6 PM
  12. Theriot was every bit as bad as 2006 Cedeno last year, with the exception of one month. Let's stop pretending he's a known quantity to even be better than the worst Cedeno could possibly be. And this Pie stuff is mind numbing. Pie's shown an ability to adapt to every challenge he's faced as a professional hitter. Give him a chance to do so, especially since he provides amazing CF defense and a LH bat in the lineup. Stop getting mad at him because he looks worse than Theriot does when he fails. He's playing chess while Theriot plays checkers.
  13. DeRosa was breaking into the Major Leagues at the same age that Theriot was splitting time between Low A and AA(both with bad numbers, especially for his age). There's really no comparison.
  14. Just get Pie out of the 8 spot, please.
  15. That one is on Dero not TheRiot DeRosa didn't bobble the ball in his glove, nor did he throw it to first base with Ecksteinian velocity.
  16. Exhibit B of how Theriot's defense costs us without him making an error.
  17. I'm terribly amused that Detroit is well on their way to an 0-4 start this year. All at home and to divisional opponents no less.
  18. This thread is disheartening on many levels.
  19. Exhibit A of how Theriot hurts with the glove without committing an error.
  20. It's better than having him back in Daytona pretending that he can catch, I think. A .789 OPS and the most incredible strikeout rate I can remember seeing means he should be rewarded rather than penalized, I think. I dunno. That strikeout rate is pretty incredible, but when you combine it with those rates it paints a picture of a guy who's hacking at a lot of pitches, fearing the K and winding up with a bunch of singles. That's not the type of approach I'd want from a guy whose chief benefit to a team is offense at a position where there needs to be a big bat, and a .789 OPS(with a .323 AVG no less) from that type of player doesn't do too much for me either.
  21. If Clevenger is going to be 1B/DH, then is making him go a full season in Daytona after he put up a .045 IsoD and a .098 IsoP that bad an idea? As far as Reynolds goes, Iowa has Fox, Murton, Hoffpauir, Kroeger, and McGehee all looking for time at one or more of Reynolds' positions. And again, Reynolds had 8 walks in 150 AA Plate Appearances, and he's never OBP'ed above .322, I like all of the previously mentioned guys as potential MLB contributors more than him. Hernandez I agree with, I really would've liked to see him in Daytona's rotation. I was pretty disappointed that Vitters didn't stick in Peoria, although if he winds up there before long I don't have a huge problem with it. With Donaldson, I think it's a matter of organizational backup. The aforementioned Clevenger is at Daytona, and Wellington Castillo isn't a non-prospect either. Hopefully somebody gets hot and takes the Tennessee job so everyone can move up.
  22. Yeah, there was a breakdown in critical thinking there.
  23. having already burned hart and wuertz, yes screw that, there was an off day yesterday. You want to eat innings and avoid the back end then put in Lieber to finish the game. Otherwise go to Marmol or Howry.
  24. You bring in Pignatiello when Fielder is the only LH hitter in the lineup and he's 4 hitters away?
