  1. I'm not sure I'd make that trade off, and Pie being an outstanding defender while Patterson is below average makes it easier. I'd probably take Pie with a .300/.400 OBP/SLG over Patterson hitting .350/.400. It's kind of a judgement call. I assume you meant to write .350/.400 Patterson and .300/.500 Pie. I'm never sure how to value defense. It's sort of an intangible, and we really don't know how bad/good Patterson would be as a CF. We just know he's not great at 2b. Of Patterson and Pie, I wonder who has more value in the eyes of other teams? I'd probably trade whichever one would get me the frontline starter we need in any case. No, I meant a .400 SLG for Pie. He's really as good as it gets defensively, enough to make up for that OBP discrepancy. That said, if trading Patterson gets Randy Wolf, and Pie gets Burnett/Harden/Sabathia, it's a much different decision.
  2. Theriot ran to 2nd when the ball was bunted, there's nothing else he can do.

  4. Also, he's not as good at hitting as Patterson or Lee, so he has no place to play.
  5. I can't find anything on Cubs.com. It's gonna be either Murton or Hoffpauir, with the other going down for Ward when he comes back this weekend. My guess is that it comes down to how Johnson is feeling. If he's still gimpy, then Murton will stay for a RH bench bat in the OF. If Johnson is okay, then Hoffpauir will remain.
  6. All evidence to the contrary. For a left fielder? Absolutely. He was 24. And at 25 he put up a sub-.800 OPS, with a better than typical ratio of at bats against LHP that should've boosted his numbers. Now he's 26 and he's not hitting even at Iowa. He's backslid, and he doesn't have age and salary(as much as before) to help his value going forward.
  7. When he can only play in LF with below average defense, it's close to that. Not really. AAAA guys can't hack it in the majors. Murton can, and has. He's no all-star, but he's a perfectly capable major league contributor. Now we're getting into semantics. Murton provides below average offense and below average defense at one position, the easiest to fill on the diamond. Whether or not that makes him "AAAA" or not depends on your definition, but he's fungible, and probably doesn't have a large role on a good team. All evidence to the contrary. For a left fielder? Absolutely.

  10. I don't get that either. They already have Wallace, Z, etc. It may seem like a reach, but I'd go for CDR. At least he has a shot at taking the load off LeBron. I like CDR as well, getting another player who can attack the basket like CDR can would be a plus. Moreso, I'd like to see them go for a scoring big man to stave off double teams on LBJ(Z doesn't draw any). The latest mocks have guys like Arthur and Spreights hanging around near 19, to take a stiff like Hibbert or a stiff/project in Koufos would be a waste. If they absolutely have to have a center, JaVale McGee at least has upside and can pick and pop, and will be around that pick.
  11. It seems the Cavs are going to take someone like Koufos or Hibbert and achieve their seeming goal of pissing me off.
  12. Coke for me. Coke from Mexico is the best(and yes, I set that on a tee for an "lol drugs" joke).
  13. I have traded MoJo Drew, Reggie Wayne, and TJ Houshmandzadeh to Roast for LaDainian Tomlinson. My Keepers stand as: RB LaDainian Tomlinson RB Joseph Addai WR Braylon Edwards
  14. EPatt isn't going to hit enough to be an offensive CF, and he's not a good enough defender to be a strength there. While he's certainly a feasible option there, I'd rather not try to make room for him in CF, so to speak.
  15. Was Dempster really that bad as a reliever that he wouldn't be a Type A if he ended up with that type of season? Better question, how does Elias handle someone who changes roles/positions within the 2 year timeframe?
  16. We can make trades at this point, right? I'm looking to package Jones-Drew and a wideout for a top notch RB if someone's interested. Two keepers for the price of one.
  17. The Brewers are also 4 games ahead of their pythagorean, good for 11 wins behind us in pythag W-L.
  18. I suggest whatever you do won't matter because I'll knock you out of the playoffs anyway.
  19. Murton and Hoffpauir will be down there soon enough, as will Hart. Wells is worth watching despite his implosion in his last outing.
  20. Vitters with yet another double. .370/.414/.519/.933
  21. DNP Vitters now 2 for 3 with a double on the evening. His line as of the millisecond: .346/.393/.462/.855
  22. shortly after he was picked, Hendry or Wilken said it was a possibility. I can see him finishing this season as a reliever and start stretching him out over the offseason but how would that work? you would lose some arb years if they brought him up this year as a reliever then spent the following season stretching him out as a starter in the minors, right? Option years. Arbitration/free agency is tied to service time, which is only accrued on the Major League Roster and DL.
  23. Vitters is 1 for 2 and Flaherty 1 for 1 with a walk in the early going for Boise.
  24. Yes. I'll merge this one with the Samardzija thread in Minor Leagues and update to include Pie and Hill.
