A strange trade, but what about Cedeno and Eyre for Hu and Kuo? The Cubs get the better player on both ends, who are also younger and perform the same role, but Colletti's the one who wants Cedeno and Eyre in the first place, so he must not think much of those two. -
Realistically though, what the heck do we ask for in return? I'd think it would be major league players over prospects. For Cedeno and Eyre? Hu and a prospect would work, the Dodgers have plenty of good ones.

McDaniel is just ridiculous. Pie stayed hot, although I guess going 2 for 6 lowers his AVG for the month. Cerda walks again, 12/10 BB/K in 76 AB. -

HUH? He gave a ratonal response to Soul's question. How is that "callng him out" or "selective moderating"? Do tell. I was referring to his post to me, not the post I quoted. All I said was "shocking". It wasn't a personal attack and I got called out on sarcasm, when NSBB favorites get to be sarcastic all the time. Sorry, it just irritated me. I made the comment because it was the second consecutive thread I clicked on where you did nothing but but rail on a poster for supposedly being irrational without contributing at all. If your response is "what about this guy?", then you probably know that my comment wasn't off base. As for "selective moderating", the mods do what they can, but it's difficult to moderate every post. If you think someone is out of line, report the post. And also understand that not all modding is done in a public avenue. Not all warnings, suspensions, bannings, etc. are made public. -
Why? Maybe Lou will actually only pitch him every other day for a while. Because they don't need him to pitch this inning, they might need him tomorrow when it's closer and they don't want Howry or Cotts pitching in a crucial situation. he can pitch back to back days... just because he hasn't done it doesn't mean he can't. Yeah, I'd just rather that back to back be in situations that matter, like potentially tomorrow and Thursday. Especially when Eyre hasn't pitched since the Cold War and we're up 7.

Z wasn't trouble at all after the second inning, and threw his last inning entirely from the windup. His outing isn't that big a deal. On the other hand, Samardzija pitching this inning is stupid.

This is getting stupid, send him to Tennessee where there aren't hurricanes if you're paranoid about him pitching in Iowa already. Of course, the floods would probably come back to Iowa if they sent him there.

can you explain this one a bit? I don't know much about Hu other than what a quick look at br will show you. Looks like through 40+ ABs this year, he had about the same performance in the same league at the same age as Ronny did last year. But at 22, Ronny did the same thing in the same league, whereas, at 22, Hu was OPS'ing .660 in the Southern League. That .660 is a bit deceiving, as it marks the worst season of Hu's minor league career. Both before and after he showed an ability to produce at a decent clip for a shortstop, as well as hit for a high average. As for the why, it's a matter of practicality, as Cedeno isn't going to get you Kemp or Kershaw obviously. Hu provides more consistent defense than Cedeno at a younger age, with a better minor league pedigree(Hu has been a well regarded prospect for more of his career than Cedeno, and better low level MiLB performance), and his skillset is more likely to transfer to the major leagues(he makes a crapload more contact, important considering neither are going to be sluggers). Plus, Colletti obviously doesn't trust him based on 100 ABs this year(his first real taste of MLB) so he's probably available.

In the 6th inning? Cub fans have done it before. Remember when Soriano was on one of his red hot streaks against Pittsburgh? Had he at least gotten a hit in that game prior to the HR?

Because the only other guys in the pen that can go multiple innings are our primary setup men at the moment.
