  1. Neither really, Willingham got that ball before Lee had even made it to third.
  2. Agreed. Players like Tabata are best off dealt for after they take their lumps in MLB and their value goes way down. The Pirates should've gone after one of the pitchers at the top of the system. Even more so when you consider the Pirates have no pitching prospects to speak of, and even without Tabata have more center fielders than they know what to do with.
  3. i hate him because he doesn't throw enough strikes and isn't a good pitcher. i gave you reasons why i don't like him pitching for the cubs; reasons that were better than "i hate his stupid face" eyre's WHIP as a cub: 1.484, 1.796, 1.455. bob howry's ERA in his "oh my God DFA him season": 1.367 yes, over about 7 innings. his career WHIP is 1.513, which isn't good for a guy who played half his games in a very large park. his numbers have been a little better as a reliever, though a WHIP of 1.42 and K-rate of 5.8 per 9 IP is hardly impressive for a relief pitcher. Cotts has been fine, he's not early season Marmol, but I don't know what your expectations are for what, our 4th, 5th, 6th best reliever? Eyre was fantastic til he had one bad outing, didn't pitch for a week(probably because he was nursing that injury), had another bad outing proving he was hurt, then went on the DL. Eyre prior to getting hurt Using Gaudin's career numbers is ridiculous, considering he hit MLB at age 20 and spent 2/3 of his career thus far as a starter. He's been quite good as a reliever this year, and it's carried over since becoming a Cub. He's 25, so his improvement is more than logical.
  4. Truffle hatehatehates Cotts. Eyre was very good until he got hurt again. And Gaudin has been good as a Cub too.
  5. Flaherty is 2 for 3 with a walk for Boise. Pawelek had a nice outing as well: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 3 K
  6. With his size and his questionable SS defense, I'd think DeRosa would be a better comp for Flaherty.
  7. He was fine for well over a month not too long ago, and we're not exactly brimming with bullpen options at this point.
  8. According to Gameday, Samardzija threw 5 out of 7 sliders for strikes, and also threw a pair of changeups, including one Ross swung through for the third out in the 8th. EDIT: His fastball was fouled off 5 times, popped up twice, and hit hard 3 times if you include the Gonzalez flyout.
  9. They also rightly set the bar very low for a guy's Major League debut, especially one with Samardzija's background.
  10. He gave up 2 hits to two very good hitters, and he got a K. Using rate stats to evaluate his outing makes you look ridiculous.
  11. Samardzija was brought up partially because the pen is taxed. He didn't bring him in with inherited runners, and he didn't do it in the 9th or something. It was a fine time to use him, and I'd consider having him go another inning.
  12. hahaha, gameday has the green dot behind the yellow "Live" sign
  13. It's Alfreda Amezaga. He knows he can't catch up to it, so he hoped for a rookie strike zone.
  14. 98, 96, and 95 on the first three fastballs, I think he's excited and now 97 and 97, yikes
  15. Personally, I'd use Edmonds. You don't want him to play the field today anyway, and no matter what happens he's not crucial as a baserunner. Doesn't bother me at all that it's Ward though.
  16. They need the league number, not the name
  17. Gameday has strike one as the exact same spot as ball one.
  18. Uggla miraculously remembers the way to first base.
  19. Imagine if someone decided the Marlins should have even a normal payroll next year. They could get Sabathia and Teixeira and not break into the top 20 in payroll. Ramirez Hermida Uggla Teixeira Cantu Willingham Ross Cather Sabathia, Olsen, Nolasco, Miller, Volstad Wow.
  20. well then there better not be a save situation, cause pitching Marmol today would be frakking dumb
  21. Johnson hits 5th against a LHP, gets an XBH, then goes down to 8th against a RHP. Lou gets it.
  22. Wouldn't he be like the Bizzaro Peter Principle?
