  1. Braun's 2007 is skewed by his flukish LHP split(wonder of wonders, he's not OPSing 1.480 against them this year). This year we're seeing his numbers at the pinnacle of a hot stretch(around a 1.200 OPS the last two weeks, around 1.400 in the last week). His OPS was under .850 less than a month ago, and under .875 under 2 weeks ago. I'm not saying he's a sub .850 guy, but I'm saying he's probably not the .925 or whatever he's at right now.
  2. Remember to PM IMB!, he's got ChiCubs' list.
  3. really? i'd sure like those .315 EqA hitters to reveal themselves, because my eye only sees one guy - and that was just for one season of a 10-year career. Braun's not a .315 EqA guy either, he's probably a little under .300, just like Lee, Ramirez, and to a lesser extent Soriano.
  4. .919 OPS going into today (and his HR today just made that higher), and .963 career OPS. .580 SLG this year. He may not have the best patience at the plate but he's definitely a class above our best hitters. Not a big class above but a class above nonetheless Braun is Soriano without the ginormous contract. His OPS is that high because he's in the midst of a Soriano-like hot streak. Don't be tricked into opinions about the true talent level of players because a couple of our guys are in a slump.
  5. Let's not put Braun in the same category as Utley or Pujols. The Cubs have 3 hitters who are every bit as good as him.
  6. Reyes has 2 doubles and now a HR, 5-4 Mets over StL
  7. I'm only following on Gameday, but apparently Kansas City just sac bunted Billy Butler to 2nd with Gordon. In the 4th inning of a 2-0 game. Then Hillman came out and got himself ejected. Bizarre.
  8. It's not the offense itself though, it's how the offense masks Daniel's weaknesses compared to him playing in an NFL offense. QB's that are 6-3 don't have that concern, regardless of their college offense.
  9. I think part of it is that Edmonds hasn't been healthy enough to play with any regularity in a couple weeks, and he just had a long layoff with the all-star break too. With Soriano back, keeping Fontenot's hot bat in the lineup means that Kosuke plays CF or DeRosa doesn't play(which is heresy).
  10. Daniel's offense has no shortage of gimmicks as well. Daniel has the arm, decision making ability, and leadership qualities to be an NFL QB, but I wonder about him being a guy who has to take the majority of snaps under center(he's been running a spread since high school), instead of in a deeeep shotgun with huge splits that allows his shorter stature to see throwing lanes.
  11. Dropping the Edmonds/Johnson platoon for a RF doesn't improve upon our current offensive production.
  12. It's impossible for us to add offense. There's no one to replace.
  13. Can Hermida hit arbitration already so we can trade for him and move Kosuke to CF?
  14. Andino could've high fived Kosuke in right field with a turn around first that wide, what was he thinking.
  15. He was tossed quickly because Rob Drake is a grade-A punkass who doesn't deserve his job. It's cause he spiked his helmet. Lou on the other hand, shouldn't have been tossed nearly that quickly.
  16. Awesome. Hopefully he can get to Boise by the end of the year and have a shot to make Peoria as a 20 year old.
  17. hahaha Yeah, Drake's definitely the guy who threw out Lou at the Cell.
  18. Somebody keep Rob Drake from ever coming into Wrigley Field ever again.
  19. Someone throw Weis out of the booth for making fun of Len.
