Vitters with an RBI single for Boise in the 1st. He was caught stealing at 2nd(0 for 3 on the year). Camacaro gave up 4 in the bottom half of the inning.
Anyone know how Samson is defensively? Two more hits for him tonight. And Mike Moustakas is in a bit of a hot streak. He was OPSing 1.700+ in August before tonight, and all he's done tonight is hit a pair of home runs.
I find it very difficult to find sympathy that Rogers Hornsby isn't on a list bringing him acclaim. On the other hand, Lou Brock being on a list when you have Musial, Gibson, Smith, Pujols, and Dean to choose from? haha
Details, plz? Did anyone throw any punches? Fielder and Parra were walking along the dugout, Fielder gestured emphatically, shoved Parra to the Bench, Parra didn't really do anything, then Fielder shoved him again.
hahaha, it didn't even look like Parra said anything to him, Fielder just snapped. It took three people to pin him against the opposite side of the dugout
That may have been a side benefit, but the underlying reason they traded Bay was because there was no chance of being retained after next year. The same could apply to Nady and Marte, but you can give Huntington the benefit of the doubt since both of those guys had value beyond their true abilities.
125 and 118 pitches his 2 previous starts Again, there was no reason for Lou to make Z throw in the 8th last week in Milwaukee. We had a 7 run lead and a rested bullpen. I couldnt believe after 125 pitches in his last start, he made Z go out for another inning in a blowout after throwing like 103 through 7 innings. We almost lost yesterday partially because of it. We did not have a rested bullpen when Z went 8 last week. And we didn't almost lose because of it today. Z being able to go another inning still means that Cotts/Gaudin pitch the 8th.
Colletti isn't very bright, but is he dim enough to trade Loney? Even with Lee's down year there's not as many viable alternatives than I would have guessed.
Rosa's future is at third base. He's not going to hit enough to compensate for that glove unless ALL of those doubles turn to home runs. I know he's only 20, but he's got a long way to go to be even below average at third.
I would agree with that, except it was strange with Zambrano throwing his warmup pitches and Lou talking to the umpire before going out to the mound. Gave Samardzija more warmup pitches.
Strong pitching for Iowa. Wells goes 6 scoreless, 3 hits and 8/1 K/BB, and Ascanio scattered a single and a double while striking out the side in the 7th. I wonder how Wells' stuff would play in the bullpen. Hoffpauir is 2/3 with a 2B, Hill and Dubois are 2/3 with a HR each. Fuld and Spears each went 3/5 with a HR for Tennessee. Spears also hit a double, and pushed himself over an .800 OPS for the year. Guyer is 2/4 with a 2B for Peoria. He's OPSing over .870 now.
1-2-3 7th for Jackson with a K. He should be done at 4.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 7/1 K/BB, 1 HR As a pro, Jackson has a 51/6 K/BB with a 1.06 WHIP in 33 IP EDIT: That is Jackson's final line.
All those draft time reports are really positive about everyone, so that's something to keep in mind as well. He still seemed like a strong pick for a 9th rounder though. A single and a K for Jackson in the 6th. 3.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 6/1 K/BB, 1 HR
a) Our 9th round pick out of Furman, he turns 21 in late October b) Maybe his dad is named Randy too, maybe he thought Jay Jackson sounded cooler c) here's some draft time reports on his stuff:
