  1. Hes just about the most anti-Angel guy you'll find. High contact, low walk rate, situational hitting, sacrifices, all hustle...thats Dunn to a T, right? Latino too.
  2. I'll take Gregg + Fuentes every day of the week over Wood + Wuertz/Ascanio/etc
  3. Wake beat Baylor.
  4. I'll be interested to see how Anderson approaches this one with regards to pressure(at least I hope so, I just found out I'll be going to a Christmas Eve Eve service tomorrow). Against the likes of Stetson and Arkansas Pine-Bluff he institutes the press since he knows he's the superior team and can just run them into the ground in every way. Against power conference teams a lot of times he's not gone full court except for strategic stretches, although there's almost always full court ball pressure. That pressure is what I'm referring to, while it's not likely to make Chester Frazier roll into a ball and cry, you can get a couple turnovers a game from relentlessly being around the ball and aggressively closing out passing angles in the half court.
  5. Like most Mizzou games, this game will hinge on rebounds and turnovers. They've had trouble giving up too many offensive rebounds this year, and Illinois has height on them in the post. On the other hand, Illinois hasn't been all that great at taking care of the ball, especially for a power conference team. If the on-ball pressure can lead to some easy baskets and fast breaks, then Mizzou doesn't need to do as well in rebounding margin. As for a prediction, I really don't have much idea since I haven't seen Illinois play and haven't really the last couple years, so I'm pretty unfamiliar with Davis, Tisdale, obviously Legion, etc. I think Mizzou will be alright(that is, not fighting to keep it a game) as long as one guard has a nice game like typically happens. Some nights it's been Tiller(though he always fills the stat sheet), other nights it's been Denmon or English, a couple times Paul has even done well for himself creating easy buckets for others. That happens and it's likely a possession for possession game down the stretch, and hopefully Mizzou will make some free throws and not choke it away like the Xavier game.
  6. Extensions, including adblock, are coming to chrome. In the interim, I had found something when I was using chrome to combat this. Essentially you added/replaced a file in windows and it automatically blacklisted everything coming from a site on a list of ad sites. It was pretty comprehensive, I never saw ads just like in adblock, although the space they would've occupied was there. It was called a page file or something like that. I wish I could find it again since I've switched computers since I first did it.
  7. Minnesota beat #9 Louisville to go to 10-0. Belmont is beating Tennessee in Knoxville in the second half. Duke thumped Xavier at Cameron. Too bad, Xavier winning would've been real nice for the RPI, but I think they were a bit overrated in the polls.
  8. And we were like -15 defensively from that position.
  9. PMR has McLouth easily below average defensively the last three years, and UZR has him as a very poor CF and a horrendous RF(in a small sample).
  10. Shortening your swing doesn't necessarily lead to better production. You sacrifice walks, strikeouts, and extra base hits for singles and groundouts and popouts.
  11. Lee? Fukudome and Zambrano to a lesser extent?
  12. Being lucky and overachieving are two different things. Our record matched our performance, so we weren't lucky, but our performance from some players isn't likely to continue, so going forward the expectations have to be lower. Personally, depending on what we do in RF I don't think we are closer to 10 wins worse than the same as last year, but I agree with the sentiment about our competitors. The Brewers look markedly worse, the Pirates are awful, the Reds are in limbo, and I don't think the Cardinals are better than last year(at this point), meaning we should be pretty clear favorites.
  13. 3 posts without a "what's the NL Central gonna do" reference is too many.
  14. That would be very very nice. We got his two buddies from Juco this week(one of them being former USC LB Josh Tatum), but I didn't realize Hazelton was that strong a possibility.
  15. He's going from changeup to splitter AFTER having elbow surgery?
  16. We get the Rams and the Chiefs, who combined have won half as many games as the Niners and Raiders. Thankfully the semester is over on Friday, so I get to go home to where only the Rams have to be on.
  17. Those Gileses(Gilii?) are crazy.
  18. Just please please please keep him away from the major league team, I don't want to hate my favorite baseball player as a manager.

  20. I suggested Rocco as part of a DeRosa/Fontenot/Rocco three headed monster at 2B/RF a couple weeks back. For that purpose it'd be similar to adding Bradley but without the contractural commitment.
  21. Firefox. I used Chrome for a bit, but it needs to come a bit further with extensibility before I give up Firefox for it. Of course by then Firefox will be updated with their new javascript engine making it just as snappy as Chrome, so the answer is likely to remain Firefox.
  22. It's really not difficult to craft a reasonable response that's not "cmon, Joey Gathright?". Not everything needs to be black and white. i dont understand what you're saying i've researched defensive metrics with an open mind in the past and i simply don't buy the accuracy that many people here are acting as though they give. That doesn't mean you throw out the data point altogether. Even if you halve the defensive impact from each(and in most of the cases here we're talking about players on complete opposite ends of defensive ability(Gathright/Pie/Fukudome v. Dunn/Ibanez/Abreu)), then it's still worth pointing out that those defensive differences make them closer in value than Rotoworld might lead someone to believe.
