  1. Cotts, Pignatiello, Olson, plus Campusano, Stanton, Bill White, Jason Waddell, and Matt Smith from the NRI pile. Given that several of our RH relievers do just fine against lefties(Marmol, Gregg, to a lesser extent Wuertz), I don't think it's a huge problem.
  2. Isn't this one of those "I can't legally comment on having a player that already belongs to another team because of collusion" things?
  3. The Royals would be a team that could get huge benefit from say, Ben Sheets. Give him 1 year to re-establish his value at more per year than those offering him 2 year deals would. You're going to get at least one pick for him, probably two, to get value from that investment. A healthy Sheets gives them a rotation of Sheets, Greinke, Meche, Hochevar, Bannister/Davies/etc, which is strong enough to carry them even if only one or two of Hochevar/Butler/Gordon have good to breakout years.
  4. Nice. I love reading Gasaway's stuff.
  5. No, it's really quite the opposite. Look at history, or better yet, look at how many guaranteed contracts the team has for 2015-2020
  6. Good grief, none of this is remotely as certain as you're claiming.
  7. They've had 3 home games against probably the 3 worst teams in the Big 12, but Mizzou's now 4-1 after dispatching Texas Tech. Two big but winnable games @K-State and v. Baylor. I'll be very, very excited if they can win both.
  8. Because the Padres have even worse constraints than fan pressure. They have an owner mandate to lower payroll to a point that demands Peavy be dealt, and Peavy and his agent have essentially made the Cubs his only possible destination.
  9. Sullivan adds math to the list of things in which he is deficient.
  10. I've significantly distanced myself from affiliation with the Bucs. If anything I consider myself a Chiefs fan, but my knowledge and interest in them is such that I'd be awful at making picks for them. I think when I did it last year I just looked up what several message boarders thought their needs were and took the best one.
  11. I don't understand how both Colorado and Ole Miss show up on a list like that.
  12. When did you see him? It certainly looks like something clicked for him with the way he turned it on in the second half, especially in regards to making contact.
  13. PMR has Soriano as an average fielder for the last 3 years. UZR has him slightly above average in '06 and '07, and slightly below average in '08.
  14. David Freese looks a startling bit like Jason Dubois.
  15. Caridad? Did he put that in there as an easter egg to make sure people were paying attention?
  16. He's the 5th starter right now, unless you think Samardzija/Hart/Gaudin beats him out.
  17. He was a tough sign, wasn't he? Yeah, if memory serves. What I was trying to say is that we got him signed when there was reasonable doubt that he wouldn't.
  18. Patterson is a Boras guy. So was Brownlie, and he was thought to be a tough sign when he was drafted.
  19. Because that makes too much sense. Shoulder surgery isn't like breaking a bone, where you wait a month or 2 for it to heal and it's good as new. Opting for surgery puts Harden's chances of pitching at all in '09 in serious jeopardy.
  20. Pettigrew at #11, lol
  21. Guardado ruptured a tendon and will miss 6 weeks and the game in Columbus.
