  1. With the 15th pick, Cut for Cap Space selects.... Julius Jones, Running Back, Dallas Cowboys
  2. I just had a mild panic attack when I realized that you had Moss/Culpepper while forgetting Moss was in Oakland.
  3. Did you manage to draft the 2 oldest backs with your first two picks in a KEEPER league? Pick again Uber!
  4. Looks like Vance is going for it all this year.
  5. Wow. Neifi got claimed and Walker didn't. Bit of a shocker. Does anyone think that this means Walker has already vested for 2006? Walker doesn't vest until 525 Plate Appearances, he's not going to vest. Thanks, Cots didnt have the # and roto said it was unknown so I thought it wasnt reported...if he vests at 525, how many PAs would he have needed to vest at 2.75? Sorry, don't know.
  6. I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather wait until after next season to make Lee an offer. If he doesn't accept, let him walk and stick Sing at 1B for 07. Then sign Hafner the following offseason. Hafner is under team control through 2008.

  8. With the 6th pick, Cut for Cap Space selects.... Donovan McNabb, Quarterback, Philadelphia Eagles
  9. Wow. Neifi got claimed and Walker didn't. Bit of a shocker. 10:1 Bowden claimed him.
  10. In fairness, I think Dusty was referring to the defense in reference to Hill's start.
  11. How are you going to get Hudson? Toronto still thinks pretty highly of him I believe.
  12. And on what basis do you make this claim? He's been hurt the past two season, and he'll be 33 next yr. I'd rather have some younger legs out there, and the Cub defense is pretty brutal. Walker didn't go on the DL last year, what did he injure? He missed some game's last year. Think he was banged up some. Lee, Walker, Nomar and ARam give the Cubs one of the best hitting infields in baseball, but they have to be near the bottom in fielding. Lee saves them from being the worse. Lee is very good, Ramirez is bad, Walker is average, and Nomar is an unknown, although admittedly his skills are deteriorating. Cedeno is an above average fielder, having him around to spell in the middle infield or even start at SS in '06 makes more sense than displacing a good, cheap option in Walker.
  13. I sincerely doubt that the difference between Soriano and Walker is worth 6.5 games. How about six weeks of Jerry Hairston and Jose Macias (and LOTS of Neifi) while Walker was hurt? Good point. Thank you. If Nomar's back, I'd rather go for a defensive 2b like Orlando Hudson. Walker's a good hitter, but he doesn't have much range and his durability isn't that great. Walker will never win a gold glove, but his defense has been right about average(97 rate, 2 runs below average) to go with his bat that is well above average. Add in the fact he's very cheap for next season and I'll definitely take him. Why do you say that Walker's durability isn't that great? This year marked his first year on the disabled list in memory. He hasn't been on the DL from 2001 on, and he played 143 games exactly the 3 years prior to that. Seems to me that he's been quite durable over his career. He has a team option and vesting option correct? Could he end up making more than 2.75 mil. next year?? With Nomar not looking good at all in the field, I want someone who's really good up the middle of the diamond. They can make up some of Walker's loss of production by getting Giles for right, which would be a HUGE upgrade over Burnitz. Walker's option starts at 2.5 million and maxes at 2.75 million.

  16. I guess there's a bit of an upside to Dusty's personality, he'll never make annoying, biased, unfactual claims for a player to get an award. Oh wait, he does that to justify playing time for the terrible players on the team, which is infinitely worse than a meaningless award. :(
  17. Just so everyone knows, I'll be moving to school tomorrow, so I may have some problems getting online if my pick comes up. I don't anticipate it being a prolonged issue, just a matter of getting set up on the school's network.
  18. If he can't make it here, then he's a commodity that can be sent to the teams that can use him. Why do you want Welly cut from the organization, yet clamor for Rueter to be signed? What can the Cubs get for him?? Seriously? Could catch lightning in a bottle w/ Reuter. At least he's had success in the majors, and can't be much worse than Hill, Mitre or Welly. Not by himself, using him as part of a package he's a valuable component. Besides, he's not taking anyone's space that's needed before the end of the season, no need to be wasteful by cutting him. Rueter has been terrible. We're better off seeing what we have in Rusch/Hill/Mitre/Welly/etc. than hoping to get 4 good starts out of a guy who never had good stuff whose age is catching up to him. I'll give Rusch a shot. The other 3 shouldn't be starting in a wildcard chase. IMO, if you still think you're in the hunt, you play matchups with the 5th starter. For a team like the Astros, who are heavily right handed and whose best hitter is a switch hitter, I'd go with the Right hander(Welly/Mitre). If you're facing a team like the Reds or Phillies, teams whose best hitters are LH, then you go with the lefty(Rusch/Hill). If you don't think you're in the hunt(which is the likely case if we lose this series), then I say you start the younger guys to get them experience and evaluate what you have.

  21. It doesn't matter. Wuertz is shaky but Welly should not be here (period). If you can't keep your ERA under 4 in the minors you don't belong in the MLs. I was shocked when I saw that Koronka was sent down so quickly in favor of Wellemeyer. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Koronka is the answr. Actually, I'm inclinded to think that Hill out of the pen is better than as a starter because of his limited pitches. Bring him back. Welly has got to go! Since Wellemeyer went back to AAA to start, he had an ERA below 3 IIRC.
  22. Matsui would be great, but he isn't necessarily a free agent. He has a clause, but he most likely won't become a free agent, I forget the circumstances.
  23. Good to go for me. Thanks for setting this up Tim.
  24. I wouldn't hesitate one second to sign him to a 2-year deal. As for 2B, I'd like us to acquire Kent or Soriano. Todd Walker doesn't do much for me. I'm surprised to hear you say that Hoops. Walker has been very good this year, better than Soriano by some metrics. Kent has been better, but is he 5 million dollars plus the cost to acquire him better than Walker?
