That's true. The .306 OBP with an average of .293 tells me the guy never takes a walk, which limits his effectiveness. I'm beating my head against the wall cause Macias didn't take a walk. 4-3 is better than 5-3. The guys a bench player who can play a bunch of positions. You want to bring back DuBois, who has a lower obp and can't play any positions? Yeah, Dubois will be a career sub-.300 OBP guy. He's a better offensive player than Macias by a fair margin even with his struggles, if that's what you're asking. How's he doing w/ Cleveland? Better than Macias. -

He has the stuff to be a good starter (better than Jerome Williams). Just because he hasn't started in the big leagues doesn't mean he can't in the future, in fact I (and others like raw and UK) would like to see him start in the big leagues. Even if his role in the big leagues will be as a reliever, as a minor league starter, he'll get more innings under his belt and more practice. He's been starting all year at AAA and been doing a good job too: 3.02 ERA, .235 BAA, 48 K but 25 BB in 53.2 IP. i'm also a fan of welly as a starter. the i-cubs website has hill as the starter tomorrow. So they do. Oddly enough, earlier today, they had Welly as tomorrow's scheduled starter. That's cause Welly just got recalled to replace Koronka. -
Please continue talking about Pujols for 3 batters after him every time he makes a play in the game.

They have Crawford, Gathright, Baldelli, Gomes, and soon Delmon Young to play in the OF, not to mention Huff at DH. No place to play him, since management doesn't seem to value him over some of their other options.

Might want to tread lightly. Discussion of the game is welcome, but openly cheering for the Cardinals and trying to spark discussion best suited in rivalries won't be welcome here. Everytime I have been here I have caused no problems, and I don't see what I did to deserve a warning. He wasn't trying to reprimand you. Just friendly advice, no one wants to see anyone get in trouble.

Then why put him on waivers to begin with? That makes no sense. Isn't it a waste of time on the Mets part to put him on waivers to begin w/ if they have no interest in trading him........................... To mask the players that they do want to trade.

BA is not exactly indicative of a team that doesn't make contact. Neifi Perez makes a lot of contact (avoiding the strikeout) but he doesn't have a good BA. Most likely the A's have a low team BABIP meaning they make a lot of contact but more of them become outs than other teams with higher BA. Correct. The A's are 13th of 14 AL teams in BABIP. Only The White Sox are worse. -
I'm sure Morris was concerned with giving the Brewers credit when he made that comment. The Cubs aren't the ones who have hit anyone this series, or thrown at players' heads in the past. They're 5-3 v. the Cards this year, the only team that's beaten the Cards with consistency this year besides Philadelphia.

Here's my issue with that. A hitter's mentality has gone from "try to get a hit/get on base", to "hit it to this side of the field/hit it with this elevation, so if I make an out something good will happen". The hitter is no longer focused on success, he's trying to make sure his failure isn't as bad. Does that make sense? Also, relating to Beane's comments, valuing hitters that make contact and valuing hitters that make productive outs are not the same thing necessarily. I'm interested to see Beane's exact comments. -

But the fact of the matter is, every team has players that overacheive, and those that don't live up to their billing. This isn't a unqiue situation the Cardinals are in. Really? I doubt there are many if any teams that have had such turnarounds with as many players as the Cards have had.

Look at the team pages, if the information is available, it'll be last in the player's info.
