    The problem is that they have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. In their preseason rankings, BA says only Detroit and St. Louis are worse.

    I'd like to see that OPS up a bit higher, though. yeah, even if he was playing ss i'm not sure that i'd be particualrly thrilled with that little power at his age. I'm not thrilled with the overall numbers, just the fact that he had a good night. He got off to a good start in AA, but had been in a bit of a funk.

    Yay Montanez. He's up to .287/.336/.417/.753 in 128 AA Plate Appearances.

    But he'll be back in September to pick up that time. September time doesn't count. If he has less than 130 at bats he will still be considered a rookie next year. I don't know about for Rookie of the Year consideration, but September still counts toward service time towards arbitration and free agency. I'd be very very upset if the Cubs demoted Murton just so he'd be in contention for an award next year.

    If you want a guy like Ryan Church playing OF, you may as well keep Sing. Here are their respective lines, Sing's from this year, Church's from 2003, when he was in AA: Church: 261/325/429 Sing: 284/396/556 Now granted, Church is producing in the Bigs this year (294/352/480) while Sing's still a prospect. But for all the overhype some spout about Cub prospects, Sing seems like the real deal. He's quietly put up some excellent numbers that seem almost sure to land him in Chicago in the near future. If I were Hendry he'd be untouchable. If it were just for Church I would agree. But Church is major league proven and the proposed deal would also land us a pretty solid major league proven arm in Armas Jr. A Rotation of Prior, Z, Wood, Armas Jr, and Maddux would be pretty tough to beat and relativly realistic to aquire. Plus Church is pretty young and so is Armas Jr I believe. Armas isn't any good.

Remind me to hire you when I finally get my dream job of Cubs play-by-play broadcaster. You've got some of the best filler I've ever seen. He'd be like the guy from Little Big League.     I agree with the point he's making though. Knee jerk reactions are okay in moderation, but they can ruin a game thread for others when they are as common as they have been.

    I think you've gotten your point across. And what point would that be? Come on, don't play coy. You've expressed your displeasure with the sort of comment you've been making all game long numerous times. It's one thing to make a comment like that, it's another to repeatedly make them for almost every occurrence in the game.
