  1. What's the purpose of a sacrifice bunt while up 4 in a spring training game?
  2. wow, that's pathetic I dunno, that's around 24 bucks an hour at the minimum.
  3. I'm going to preface this by saying that I didn't see the second half yesterday, nor have I looked at the box score, just the final on a ticker. Dee Brown is overrated. He's not a very good scorer at all, 55th of 58 B10 players in PPWS. He's a very good defender, and he does a good job of not turning the ball over and distributing, but in all honesty he doesn't belong on the B10 first team. Now, feel free to say that I hate Illinois and all that it stands for, and that I'm bitter about yesterday or the season or whatever.
  4. Welcome! The game will be on WGN-TV, just check the title of the thread. And yes, the game is at 2 CST.
  5. Is that Jim Lefevre coaching the Chinese team? Awesome. Taipei is up by 7 in the game for pride, both teams are 0-2.
  6. And wants to go back to the AL after this season. Bowden may give Soriano away for pennies on the dollar tallent wise, but he will still cost @10mill for the privilege of him agreeing to play 2nd base poorly. From what Cedeno has shown so far during ST, Soriano would commit less errors at 2B than Ronny would at SS. Our MIF defense isn't that strong, whatever Baker and Hendry may claim. From what Jones has shown so far during ST, he's the best player of all time at hitting southpaws. Cedeno is a good defender, a couple spring training games, ones that we haven't even seen too, don't change that one bit.
  7. He's a stud. Too bad he didn't pick Mizzou... No hard feelings though, I wouldn't go to Mizzou either if I was a 5 star recruit. Mizzou is such a mess. Still, he would have looked good in black and gold... I heard that Mizzou refused to recruit/deal with his younger brother because of what his dad did to the university. He pulled a Cushman on Snyder, saying not to go after any other big men because Tyler was a done deal to Mizzou, then dumped him. Good to see Duke go down. Looks like Redick's jumper is losing it's legs. His last 4 games he's 5 of 21, 3 of 10, 10 of 28, and 5 of 21 from the field. You could make the case that an early ACC exit, even if it means a 2 seed in the NCAA's, would be best for Duke's Final Four and Championship aspirations.
  8. They're off to a good start this year, my boy Antone is tearing it up from the leadoff spot.
  9. What's the point of that though? I could see that if there was a tie for the 12th spot, but those teams had ample opportunity to win the necessary games to make it in. DePaul is missing the tourney because they lost to Notre Dame, Louisville, Rutgers, and twice to Providence, while never beating anyone in the top half of the conference.
  10. From Andy Katz's blog:
  11. Pretty cheap technical, IMO. I didn't see the end after that play, but looking at the replay it didn't really look like a thrown elbow.
  12. Disappointing Big 10 season for Michigan State. With Gray out now too, I'm not too optimistic heading into the BTT and NCAA's.
  13. Based on how they played against China and Chinese Taipei, teams who have a combined, what, zero major leaguers?
  14. Scherzer actually pitched tonight, bearing the cold to have a decent outing(Mizzou won easily 14-3). He only lasted 5+, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and a walk with 9 K's on 107 pitches. Here's a shot of the radar gun army on hand to see him: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/cubsfan_05/Radarguns.jpg
  15. Zambrano, Prior, Maddux, Williams, Rusch, Hill, Miller(?), Guzman(?) If Wood's arm falls off we don't need to go out and get another starter. We'd be better no doubt with a Willis or a Hernandez, but the opportunity cost in all likelihood wouldn't be worth it.
  16. "in case" Pierre sprains an ankle isn't good enough reason for me to validate holding up a roster spot. Why would you rather have Grissom than Greenberg? Well I'm not gonna rehash for the 10th time in this thread exactly why, you can read one of my many redundant posts on why, but for starters his .285 career Avg against Lefties (over .310 last 4 seasons I believe) and his career .467 SLG against Lefties, would suit this current team much better than anything Greenberg could add. Just 1 of many reasons why I'd rather have Grissom right now than Greenberg. The better question is why I would rather have Mabry than Greenberg. That would atleast be more debatable, barely. I don't think you can ignore that Grissom was abominably bad against RHP and LHP last year at age 38. Greenberg provides better defense at all 3 positions, plus he didn't have much of a platoon split at AA last year, in fact he was better against LHP(.856 OPS) than RHP(.780).
  17. "in case" Pierre sprains an ankle isn't good enough reason for me to validate holding up a roster spot. Why would you rather have Grissom than Greenberg?
  18. Crap, you had to remind me of that.
  19. Again, because it's relevant: Link(mild language)
  20. What do you consider largely unaltered? Didn't they do something with the trim and/or the names on the backs?
  21. I don't think 15 in each league is particularly feasible schedule-wise.
