  1. When did Prior strike out 20 hitters in a game?
  2. That's a brilliant idea. I can just search our student directory for the name "John" and get a couple hundred email addresses. Search girls names, they're less likely to have voted.
  3. FTR, that number is exaggerated, probably by at least a full season.
  4. After the 2003 season, would anyone have given any thought to Prior leaving? We were coming off a wildly successful year for him and the team. Prior has almost 2 full years before he's eligible for free agency, too much can happen between now and then to be able to forsee what Prior's opinion of the franchise will be.
  5. There's about 30 picks left, they're in the 7th round. Smith was taken by the Jets in the 4th round, he's the only Mizzou player drafted thus far. New York huh? Wow, that will be a culture change for him. I'm really happy to see that he got selected though. He's apparently a super nice guy and is very into his faith with God. Good to see nice guys like that finding success. I thought Jason Simpson might have been taken, but I guess that drug bust was hanging over his head. If that didn't happen, he probably would have been selected. Since the original post, the Rams took Tony Palmer with a compensatory pick at the end of the 7th round.
  6. On that note, isn't every Cubs game on WGN radio? Can we stop listing it to confuse people who think it might be on WGN TV?
  7. Is that a rhetorical question? No. I would really like to know. same way you put one in your post. I tried that and it didn't work. But I want to put an image from my computer in my sig. You need to host it on a website like http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.imageshack.us
  8. If Lebron is going to make this many threes, you might as well just keep 2 players on him at all times. Man he's good.
  9. Phoenix just got hosed right out of the series.
  10. Walton got away with one, clearly held him.
  11. Great finish to this LAL-PHX game so far. Big shots abound. EDIT: Wow...
  12. I don't recall many people saying that Maddux was melting down every game, or hadn't done anything to deserve praise last April. No, they said he was old and a waste of money (not to mention pitching batting practice). Again, Zambrano has had at least one inning in every game this year where he's been his own worst enemy. You may not like my "melt down" term but that's what I call it. Maddux was/is old, and questioning his contract is far from irrational. On the other hand, you are picking apart Zambrano, even when he's done well. By that definition every pitcher in the league is their own worst enemy consistently by failing to put failure behind them, even if they don't actually get hurt because of it. I disagree. The lapses have cost him because it prevents him from pitching later into games and perhaps, giving the offense time to score so he can qualify for a win. Going into this game, he pitched 29.2 innings over 5 games. That's not even averaging 6 inning a start. Today he didn't record an out in the 5th. And in his 3 good outings, the ones you have refused to acknowledge and claim he's still melting down in, he's averaged 6.33 innings per start, to go with his 1.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 9.47 K/9. And again, what you're talking about isn't exclusive to Z, every pitcher ever has it happen to them. I don't need to acknowledge them. His body of work speaks for itself. He has not been ace-like. I can turn the tables and say, why are you only looking at those 3 starts when overall he's been horrible? There's no doubt that he's been more bad than good this year. He's not my child; I don't need to say something positive to counterbalance the bad. In fact, those number are so good that it just magnifies how HORRIBLE he has been in his other starts. I'm not the one that has made definitive statements about him melting down in every start, or not doing anything deserving of praise.

  16. I haven't seen a lot of the playoffs this year, but the UC crowd today was the best of any of the games I've seen. Kudos, Bulls fans.
  17. I'll say it again. Especially with starting pitchers, there's a difference between poor performance and inconsistent performance. Anyone who had a problem with half of Z's outings this year is being irrational at best.

  19. When you say "Zamnbrano(sic) has been crap all year" and "Being the ace also means you don't melt down just about every game", you're going to get called out on it, because Z hasn't been crap all year nor has he melted down just about every game. There's a very real difference between poor performance and inconsistent performance. Say Z hasn't pitched like an "ace"(which is unnecessarily arbitrary anyway, but I digress), fine, but when you exaggerate further upon that to paint him as someone who hasn't done a positive thing all year when he clearly has people are going to catch you. What exactly has Z done that's been positive this year? He's O for the season with a ballooning ERA and WHIP. See my previous post. 3 outings combined for fantastic numbers, 3 disaster outings. This is ridiculous. You're going to harp on him for "losing control" in every outing, even though in two of them he didn't even give up any ER? This is why this got started, because of hyperbole like this.

  21. It's not the Brewers it's the pitching. We get it. You're anti-Z this year. I'm pro good pitcher. I'm not going to stand up for the guy blindly. What has he done to earn praise? Look at his numbers (not just this game but before hand). His ERA, WHIP, etc. He still has time to make adjustments but there's been little to get excited about. Haha, you can't be serious. Haha What has he done this year? This, this, and to a lesser extent, this. AKA, half of his outings this season.
