  1. Did anyone catch the name of the home plate umpire? Was it Randy Marsh? yep
  2. Umpires rotate counter clockwise during a series, right? If so, it means no Angel Hernandez behind the plate.
  3. .240/.349/.437/.786, Choi's career numbers Can you reasonably expect Clark to do much better?
  4. it's those blasted holograms
  5. This doesn't hold up to any analysis. Hairston hasn't made the most of his chances in the lineup? Neifi has made less of his chances. You make a lot of claims, but don't back them up with anything substantial. Jerry's current OBP is 133 points higher than Neifi's. He was about 40 points higher last year. How is Neifi better in a limited role? Jerry has played all 3 OF positions for the Cubs, plus 2B. He's more versatile the Neifi, and a better hitter than Neifi. The only thing Neifi does better is play defense at SS, but that's hardly a quality to put one player over another. It seems pretty clear to me that you saw Neifi come up with a couple big hits, then let that cloud your perception of the rest of his time as a Cub. I'm not a big Hairston fan, but it's pretty clear he's better than Neifi. Who are you quoting?
  6. Maybe you and your Iowa friends can create a new message board. We participate on boards. It's all civil. Who are you kidding dude, it would be pretty easy to find multiple instances of you being "uncivil" or taking shots at other posters. We probably wouldn't have to go past the first couple threads in this forum. I'll wait patiently........ Haha, you seriously want that? Alright.... "I sense a little homophobia in the room." "Cubs fans attacking Edmonds............ how original." You don't even have to leave the thread for examples of you making things about the posters rather than the topic. I have class so I can't look through the longer threads at this point.

  8. Why is that? Because he's been heavily scrutinized, and there hasn't been evidence to support that he is older than he says.
  9. Eh, he flipped a bat at him, so what the hell....He didn't flip his bat. Goodness, are y'all watching the same video as I am?? Anyways, yes, if someone really wanted to go after him they could charge him with aggravated assault...which in the Model Penal Code reads: And yes, a bat is considered a deadly weapon. A gun is a deadly weapon as well, but it's deadliness is significantly lessened if you throw it at someone rather than shooting someone with it. True, however, there are 2 things I see as flaws in your argument. 1) You can't shoot someone with a bat. 2) You say he was wearing a chest protector, and that should lessen Delmon's punishment. If you shoot someone, accidently or otherwise, and they just so happen to be wearing a bulletproof vest, should your punishment be lessened? See the other posts I made about the gun/bat comparison, I don't think you understand what I was going for. I never said wearing a chest protector should lessen Delmon's punishment.
  10. I need to go to sleep, but can someone explain how this is worse than what Alcantra did? Or a better question, how is it "at least 10 times" worse than what Alcantra did?
  11. It seems like you're going to a lot of effort to defend a hypothetical and supposedly unlikely charge. Setting aside what constitutes battery, do you think it's reasonable for the umpire to sue or press charges?
  12. The point about the umpire's reaction is perspective. Sure he flipped the bat at him pretty hard, but the umpire turned into it and barely had any reaction to it. I don't think anyone is saying Young's actions should be tolerated, but people are making a lot of inferences about the situation that are making it out to be much worse than it is. Refer back to my previous comment about the Alomar and Everett situations. Delmon made a mistake in the heat of the moment, but the backlash is beyond extreme at this point. Come on. Neither Everett's or Alomar's offenses are comparable. Young walked away from the ump, the chose to turn around and throw (not flip) his bat at the ump. When he walked away, he had enough time to consider what he wanted to do. I don't think Everett or Alomar gave any conscious thought to what they did more than 1/2 second before they did it. Young walked away, turned around and threw his bat (which is far more dangerous than a goober or slight headbutt) at the ump, likely after considering what he was going to do. Your defense of him is as irrational as any of the condemnations in this thread. They certainly are comparable. Your inference that the couple of steps he took before he chucked the bat constitute some sort of internal turmoil or premeditation is more irrational than anything I've said, and I've said several times what he did was wrong and he deserves a suspension between 15 and 30 games.
  13. For the purposes of assaulting someone, a bat is a deadly weapon. So is your leg by the way. You missed the point. A gun is a deadly weapon because you can shoot people with it, not because you can knock someone out throwing it. In a similar fashion, a bat is a deadly weapon because you can beat someone senseless with it, not because you can chuck it at someone.* *Obviously these are not absolutes, but you get the point I'm making.
  14. Atkins is the quintessential Coors field player. Pass.

  17. Perhaps. If someone really wanted to go for Delmon's blood they could charge him with aggravated assault, which usually has a max of twenty years. Aggravated assault? He flipped a bat at him, he didn't wield it and take a swing! Not only that, but it hit the dude square in a chest protector and he didn't even flinch. The overreaction to this is getting out of hand. There were probably plenty of people saying the same things about lawsuits and permanent bans when Alomar and Everett made their stupid decisions, and we'll probably see something similar here in terms of punishment, and that's fair.
  18. Potential felony? Seriously?
  19. where'd you find the video? ESPN, check about page 3 of the thread on the incident in Minor Leagues.
  20. Agreed. Awesome video. Not so awesome music after "We Will Rock You." I dint even think that song fits in. It's just seems too aggressive. Doesn't fit in!! :x "We Will Rock you" isn't aggressive? I like Till I Collapse, I don't mind it in that montage either.
