I'll never forget one of my younger Cub games I attended, and they announced Froemming as the second base umpire. Immediately I hear a "Aw NO, NOT FROEMMING!" behind me. The guy was right.

Z has repeatedly proven himself in the past. Marshall hasn't had anything CLOSE to Williams' meltdown against the Cards. Similarly, Marshall hasn't had anything close to Williams' 383 innings of above average(110 ERA+) performance at the major league level. -

Yes and yes. The question is how much are those going to rise from their current state.

Pierre's career high in runs is 108, and he did that with an OBP about 100 points higher than it is now. His number of runs(which is largely team dependent anyway) thus far is an anomaly.

How did he do that? I missed the first 7 innings, so I'm geniunely curious. In the top of the 8th he double switched out Jones when he brought in Howry. Jones's replacement Mabry then messed up a fly ball down the line the next hitter. Yeah, I saw that. You can't blame the game on Dusty only because of that. From the last two innings that I saw, the bullpen lost the game, not Dusty. Agreed, I'm not saying we lost the game because of it, but that double switch hurt us pretty badly.

Are you still talking about the double switch? If Dusty had just waited, we wouldn't have to worry about any other pinch hitters that inning.

If Matt Herges is your closer, then I don't think it's that big a deal not going to him in this instance.

If the 1-0 pitch was called the way it should have been, though, it would be 2-0 and he'd be taking. He left that pitch up, so it wasn't a bad one to swing at. See this at bat.
