  1. I'd settle for the RGIII trade: Redskins get 2011 #2 pick Rams get 2011 #6 pick 2011 2nd round 2012 1st round 2013 1st round Move down four spots, pick up a second round pick and two additional firsts. Funny thing is...Washington may have still won that trade. And they definitely would have won it if RGIII had stayed healthy.
  2. I want the Herschel Walker trade. LB Jesse Solomon LB David Howard CB Issiac Holt DE Alex Stewart Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1990 Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1990 Minnesota's 6th round pick in 1990 Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1991 (conditional on cutting Solomon) Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1991 (conditional on cutting Howard) Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1992 (conditional on cutting Holt) Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1992 (condition met by trading away Nelson) Minnesota's 3rd round pick in 1992 (conditional on cutting Stewart)
  3. I'm disappointed about the Abreu news. I thought he was the easiest and cheapest way to add a known bat this year. But I probably agree that three years was too long of a deal for him.
  4. Could be. Looked bad.
  5. Feel free to go back through my past comments I’m *mostly* clean. I had a reactionary moment after the MSU loss year but quickly recovered. Defended his tenure before and after that moment I was talking more in general than anyone here
  6. Are Michigan fans still wanting Harbaugh fired?
  7. lol - Considering Vogelbach was the comp Law made, is this guy just quoting Law, or did they both just talk to the same guy?
  8. Fields has so much more to learn about winning. Can't believe he allowed that runback to kill the momentum.
  9. I believe we're at 38 right now. IIRC... The reason to non-tender guys now instead of waiting is that if it is done now, they can be added back to the roster at any time. If you drop them after the deadline, there are salary implications and I don't think they can be added back until 5/15. But I may have that backwards or it may have changed with the new CBA
  10. Why keep Rivas with Mervis right there?
  11. You can actually pick them in the poll. :) I went with Leiter, Marquez, Rivas and Ortega. I did! Not sure I understand the hurry to non-tender Leiter. He was excellent as a reliever and doesn't cost anything, worst case scenario you can try to sneak him through when you absolutely need the spot later in the offseason(and I'd at least consider Rucker and/or McKinstry first). I probably just didn't watch enough games late in the season to build up faith in him. He's not a big stuff guy and he's out of options; that puts him behind the other relievers on the list for me. We're likely to sign several relievers this winter, so I just don't see a roster spot I want to hold for him. I'd rather non-tender him and try to re-sign him to a minor-league deal.

  13. Pick the players you would remove from the 40 man roster today
  14. I like it when people complain about the QB runs that are...checks notes...*averaging* more than 11 yards a play. (Note - I didn't check notes. Feel free to correct things if my memory is off here)
  15. there is a difference between learning how to win and knowing how to win. The former is an active process that can be objectively verified. The latter is a hypothetical construct and is an outcome measure of sorts. Learning how to win means not making the same mistakes, or trying something different in the same circumstance where you were unsuccessful in the past. Natural ability + good planning/practice + luck are also variables. So "learning how to win" just means getting better overall?
  16. I'll put this slightly differently... Can anyone name a mediocre quarterback who "knows how to win"? Or a great QB who doesn't?
  17. And the best QB's tend to do that a lot and bad QB's tend not to. That's not necessarily learning how to win or being clutch. It's just being good and having a good team & play caller.
  18. I have no evidence either, but I think there's something to be said for this theory from a QB perspective. There's a reason guys like Brady and Rodgers have come back to win a million times. Yes, it's mostly because they're great QBs overall, but they also operate at a high level under pressure very frequently. The team as a whole, probably not really as big of a factor but I think it's a real thing for QBs. So..."clutch" exists in football?
  19. I'm seeing this "learn how to win" narrative everywhere today. We know in baseball that performance in close games is essentially random and reverts to overall team quality. This is in spite of "TWTW" and other false narratives over the years. Can anyone provide compelling evidence there a difference in football? My guess is that games that end within a few points are essentially random. Please convince me otherwise. I will start by saying that I have no evidence for my position. However, it seems to be a more logical hypothesis than the whole TWTW or "knowing how to win", etc.
  20. Idk if it’s so much freeing 40-man space, it’s getting rid of guys about to be expensive on the 40-man for them Everything I've seen about why they are looking to make trades now is to clear space ahead of Tuesday's rostering deadline. I'd think they'd either be looking to consolidate spots or trade for guys who don't need to be rostered.
  21. If they're specifically looking to free 40 man space, wouldn't they want targets not on the 40?
  22. I don't like losing. The higher draft pick positioning is just how I talk myself into not being as upset when horsefeathers like today happens.
  23. Hard to run a two minute passing drill when your receivers get knocked down on their routes with no call. Not to mention running for your life immediately after the snap.
  24. This will be the third game this year where the Bears send film to the league and get a response of "Yeah, we blew that game for you guys."
  25. Okay...NOW the Bears are an elite rushing team.
