  1. Oh yeah, add Rios to my list from earlier.
  2. Honestly, Bote is probably also behind Morel, McKinstry and Mastrobuoni on the depth chart at this point.
  3. If anyone has links to Mets fans tears over this ranking for PCA, that would be awesome to see.
  4. Tim, put the PFF mock draft site away. lol - but they just updated all the player rankings again. I need to start all over!
  5. The PFF mock draft tool once gave me: 2023 Picks: 4, 25, 79, 106 2024 Picks: Round 1, 2, 3 2025 Picks: Round 1, 2 Michael Pittman, Jr --------------------------- So I expect absolutely nothing less in return in real life.
  6. It was definitely a penalty. I don't know if it is consistent with how the called the game, but he definitely held the guy. Twice.
  7. I'm going to need to check your work on that one. His ERAs from the past three years are 3.02, 3.22, 3.50 That ain't a "bottom rotation pitcher"
  8. Law put out a Cubs top 20 list: https://theathletic.com/4144343/2023/02/08/cubs-top-20-prospect-farm-system-ranked/ It's...full of inaccuracies in the descriptions and weird takes. I honestly thought it was written by Bowden at first even though it says "Keith Law" in the title of the article.
  9. Primarily safety related, but it actually did have a significant impact on base stealing in the minors where it was implemented.
  10. By the time he'd need to be added, a few guys will be on the 60 day DL On the position player side? They're already at 19 position players which is a little heavy for current roster construction. 8 of those (including Morel) are outfielders too. Sure Heuer and maybe Roberts or even Hendricks could be 60 Day'd by April, but I'm not sure that creates opportunity for Deluzio in particular. This is not to say that Deluzio has zero chance of making the roster through some combination of performance or injury, but I think the default assumption is that they're comfortable with the CF depth(Bellinger, Morel, Velazquez, soon Davis) already on the 40 man, even if it's not plus defensively. I agree that his chances of making the team are very slim unless there's an injury to one of the CF. I was just saying that they don't necessarily *have* to bounce anyone from the 40 man to add him.
  11. I wonder how meaningful it is that Morel is listed as an OF on the cubs.com roster. CF was where he spent the most time in MLB last year, but he came up as an IF and had equal playing time between IF and OF in MLB. I think Deluzio's biggest hurdle would be roster opportunity cost. Someone has to get dropped for the 40 man, and the only position players who fit as candidates to my eyes (McKinstry & Mastrobuoni) have had several opportunities to get DFA'd and it hasn't happened yet. By the time he'd need to be added, a few guys will be on the 60 day DL
  12. I'll go the other way and say the only reason to send him back to the low minors is the injury. Whatever he has to prove isn't going to happen in High A I don't think it's about "proving" anything. It's about what is best for his development. If they think he's ready to handle AA, they'll give him the assignment. If they think his very short exposure to pro pitching hasn't yet prepared him for AA, they'll put him in A+. It's not an insult. It's not a step back. It will be a hell of an accomplishment just to get back on the field after that injury.
  13. Do you mean 2024 1st? I wouldn't value a 1st round pick 2 years from now very much at all. But if you mean 2024 1st round pick, it's tougher. In general, I'd prefer the proverbial "bird in the hand" that is the current year's pick (high 2nd). But when you compare potential draft classes, next year probably looks better. I'd still take the current year pick, but it's much closer. I did mean 2025. I'd definitely prefer a 2024 1st over a high 2023 2nd. It's closer and its probably a little easier to project a team 1 year out rather than 2 years out. I'm just thinking about trades where its like 2023 1st, 2024 1st, 2025 1st vs. 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st. It would be awesome to have multiple first round picks the next 2 seasons, but having a high 2nd now helps immediately.
  14. Best case scenario is Bellinger back at MVP levels.

    NFL Playoffs

I only saw the end of the game, but the questionable calls looked mostly right to me. The grounding call was right, imo. The shove out of bounds at the end had to be called. Was it earlier in the game where you disagree?
  16. I'm fine with the trade. Hate the pick. Take the top OT, DI, DL you have on your board at 7. I'd add WR, but none of them should be rated that high.
  17. Yeah - we still need someone like Alcantara to break out in a big way to take the system to another level, but there are a whole bunch of guys in there that will see the majors.
  18. It is their first time being outrighted, so they didn't have a choice for free agency. They have been assigned to Iowa and will be at spring training.
  19. Actually, he still has the option to refuse to accept the outright assignment and declare free agency. Based on the framing from the tweets I maybe mistakenly assumed that step had taken place, but yeah. Considering he was available to teams at bare minimum terms I have to imagine odds are against him refusing the assignment. Higgins did just a week or so ago. But I imagine they'll offer Leiter some sweeteners to take the assignment.
  20. Last year's draft is going to be among the worst in Cubs history. It's really inexplicable. lol
  21. That would easily cement their place as the Division Villains, for sure. That concrete set a looong time ago.
  22. I'm starting to have too much fun with the PFF mocks. I burned out last year in mid April and that was without the Bears having a first. I'm gonna burn out before FA even begins this year. Had some real spicy ones last night. One was where I trade down to 4 and still got Anderson and then Addison at 35. The other I traded all the way down to 16, but got 47, 98 and all of Washington's 1st, 2md, and 3rd rounders in 2024 and 2025. Then got Mike's Murphy at 16 as JSN at 47. You had random set up pretty high, then. I've been obsessed with their mock, too.
  23. Where was Brooks Lee? Cam Collier? Gallardo?
  24. Counterpoint: His actual nickname is "Mash"
