  1. The Hosmer signing itself is almost impossible to be that bad, let alone terrible. It's a league minimum signing. Now, it sets up terrible downstream roster and playing time decisions. But the signing itself is pretty much risk-free.
  2. Couldn’t he DH too? Who is the current DH, Madrigal? I just seriously doubt they'll keep three 1B/DH guys on the active roster.
  3. I like it as long as they're willing to let Mervis push Hosmer to the bench or off the roster if he keeps mashing.
  4. I think they're pretty close to that on Fangraphs.
  5. Only if the league rigs the lottery so that the Bulls end up with Wemba.
  6. It's not important enough to me to search, but I thought you were low man around here on Alcantara, too. If I'm remembering that incorrectly, then mea culpa.
  7. I want Estrada in the pen. But in my head he's learned how to throw strikes consistently over the offseason.
  8. Correa at 6/$200 is a really good deal.
  9. fwiw (not much!) - I can usually get the pff draft simulator to approve the following: Bears give: 1/1 Indy gives: 1/4, 2/35, 3/79, 2024 1st, 2025 1st
  10. I kind of want the haul from trading down to #4, then the haul for trading down to #9.
  11. This way you get your pick of QB's instead of taking whichever one the Texans didn't want. Smart tanking by the Colts.

    NFL Week 18

Those all seem like terrible ideas. The reality is there is no clear, obvious and equitable solution out there. Someone is going to get the short end of the stick no matter what happens. I think you just call it a tie and lets the chips fall where they may with everything else going normally. But I'd be open to options that involve removing the week between the conference championship games and the super bowl because I horsefeathering hate that week. meh - super easy. Both teams reportedly refused to go back to the field instead of just doing the five minute pause the league wanted. If only one had done that, they would have forfeited. Since both refused to take the field, it's a tie. End of story. Move on.
  13. We've got to see what happens once Poles assembles an OL that'll be able pass block along with a full season of Mooney, Claypool before passing judgement on Getsy. Like it or not he was severely limited with the lack of talent this year. The onus is on Poles, last offseason one could almost justify him punting, this one, he's no excuse or limitations. The McCasky' should seriously consider replacing Poles if he can't put together an NFL caliber roster going into 2023. I'd like to better understand why we couldn't sustain that offensive outburst that we saw mid-season. I'm sure injuries to Mooney, Claypool and multiple offensive line guys played a big part but it seemed like the playcalling regressed a bit too, as did Fields performance. But we went from scoring ~28 points a game to scoring 15 points a game pretty quickly. 90% of it is explained in your own post, imo. The other 10% is that he was in on the tank.
  14. I'll go with 85-87 wins. Run prevention and overall depth will be enough to boost a slightly below average to average offense.
  15. Good for him. He's a really solid minor league depth piece, but I'm really glad he's not part of the major league squad for us going forward.
  16. We still get a prospect from the Padres along with Hosmer, right?
  17. If you're looking for a bad contract because of...let's say injuries...how about Prince Fielder? btw - I just looked up his stats and how is he still only 38 years old? Time for a comeback, Prince!
  18. Yeah, I've been banging that drum for a while. I think he's the best option left out there if the medicals are even somewhat clear.
  19. hahahahahaha Good luck with that.
  20. Weirdly I think the outfield is probably more shallow when you think about the likely 26 man roster. If Velazquez doesn't make the team, your primary backup OF is...Wisdom? Mastrobuoni/McKinstry? Morel
  21. Willson was almost as much a DH as catcher last year. They have not yet filled that spot. They could easily get as much power as they did last year from there. And they'll likely get much more from 1B and other spots.
  22. I feel like I said all this earlier in the thread.
  23. Jed's going to have to put his big boy pants on for that to happen.
  24. Just imagine SF if they had taken Fields and surrounded him with that talent.
  25. Nah. This is just fine.
