  1. I'm positive people have talked about Fangraphs in other posts as their source.
  2. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/payroll/cubs
  3. Definitely the guy from Memento
  4. Sometimes I feel like you're the guy from Memento with this conversation.
  5. lol - They're not asking the Cubs for Paredes and Seiya and Cam, while the only ask we've heard from the Yankees is "Gil"
  6. You just rotate guys through DH
  7. Cubs add Tucker (Paredes, Wesneski, Rojas) Cubs send Bellinger to NYY (best prospect we can land) Cubs sign late inning reliever Cubs finalize deal with Carson Kelly (Hopefully) Cubs sign Sasaki If Paredes gets traded, I think you have to hold onto Hoerner so that Shaw can slide in at 3B.
  8. I'd be pretty happy with a deal for Tucker centered around Paredes. That should bring the prospect cost way down.
  9. Really, write in the preferred late inning option.
  10. Cubs add Tucker (Wicks, Caissie, Horton) Cubs send Bellinger to NYY (best prospect we can land) Cubs trade Hoerner to Seattle for the best of their starters you can get for Nico (Woo?) Cubs sign Jeff Hoffman Cubs finalize deal with Carson Kelly (Hopefully) Cubs sign Sasaki I'm not sure if you can sign a player to a future contract and have it start to count against the cap the following season. I feel like I've seen that before, but I may be hallucinating there. If possible, though, get that done with Tucker so he's playing at $16M this year. Otherwise just get him extended and work out getting under the cap later. The team is strong enough to stick Shaw at 2B from day one and live with the lumps. Maybe he does really well and you qualify for the bonus draft pick at the end of the year. Hitters: PCA / Tucker / Seiya / Happ / Paredes / Busch / Swanson / Shaw / Kelly & Amaya, bench dudes SP: Shota / Steele / Taillon / Woo / Boyd / Sasaki (PLEASE) + Assad / Brown / Wesneski RP: Hoffman / Hodge / Pearson / Miller / Morgan / etc.
  11. Wasn't he a multi-sport athlete? I was always confused why someone that athletic wasn't a better defender.
  12. Hey Yankees, sorry you missed out on Soto. Can we interest you in a Cody Bellinger at a mere $27.5M?
  13. I called the opt out, but I was over $100M short on my contract estimate back whenever
  14. You do understand that there are multiple people on here with differing logic, right?
  15. Just a quick note for those thinking Boyd pitched 39 innings last year. He also had three more starts in the playoffs with a 0.77 era and 2.57 FIP. Now...he averaged less than 4 ip in those starts, but that's playoff baseball in 2024.
  16. This feels like a very interesting move. The Tigers of a few years ago were not at the top of anyone's list about maximizing pitcher utility Cleveland is at the top of those lists and he looked outstanding for them in 51IP (including playoffs) It's a significant contract, but $29/2 isn't going to break the bank if it doesn't work This is likely to end up being a meh kind of move, but he should help the team. And it does have the upside of being an Imanaga 2024 kind of an impact going forward. In my mind, I drew a comparison to drafting Horton based on his abbreviated draft season. If your scouts tell you that new level of performance is for real, then you have a potential stud at a price you couldn't otherwise get.
  17. huh...I could swear I saw them listed at #24 in your thread last week. But I just went back and checked and they weren't there. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
  18. Illinois won convincingly and moved down a spot? Meh, whatever.
  19. Purdue math still says undefeated against non-conference opponents since 2000
  20. What the hell kind of Purdue math has the team playing around 1.5 "non-conference" games per year?
  21. I, for one, am rooting hard for both Georgia and Alabama to miss the inaugural 12 team playoff field.
  22. As of now, here is my dream, completely unrealistic offseason: Sign Soto - 14/$600M with some deferrals Recruit Sasaki Trade for Crochet - Caissie, Triantos, McCullough Trade for Langeliers - Wesneski, Horton, BJ Murray Sign Jeff Hoffman Trade Tauchman for Andrew Nardi Extend Lopez We'd have a rotation in the OF of Soto, PCA, Happ, Bellinger, Suzuki. Bellinger would also spell Busch at 1B from time to time. Infielders are all strong with Shaw available at Iowa in case anyone gets injured. The lineup is just ridiculously deep with Soto as the everyday anchor. I'd be willing to eat money to move Bellinger in this scenario (and keep Tauchman). Teams in the bottom 10 in 2024 WAR from CF that hope to contend in 2025: SFG, STL, LAD, CLE, NYM, ARI. Keep half the salary and see what you can get for him from one of those teams. I'd like a lefty reliever as part of the return, but really just maximize the talent return. Starting pitching would be killer with Sasaki, Crochet, Steele, Imanaga & Taillon. Plus the depth available with Brown, Wicks, etc. Relief would be very strong, as well. Very strong options at the top with Hoffman, Hodge, Brown. Quality depth with Lopez, Tyson, Merryweather, Pearson, etc. Lefty options are Nardi, Wicks & Little.
  23. If the trade market for his is pretty robust...he should just opt out of his contract.
