  1. Between springer, altuve, Correa and Bregman the stros have one helluva nice young core.
  2. This is my fever dream. It's too bad because he seems like a great guy and all, but that contract is an albatross.
  3. I hear that Girardi works better with vets rather than young players, so that could be part of it. You'd think that would make him a good fit for the Nats. I don't want to see the Nats with competent managing.
  4. I want the Astros to win not because the Dodgers eliminated the Cubs, but rather I like having NL bragging rights for most recent WS win. Also, Dodger fans are subhuman and do not deserve joy.
  5. Garpax stinks but Markkinen is indeed impressive. Super quick release.
  6. Agreed, I think he'll be better next year but also understand why he is the most likely trade candidate. Because Heyward is bad and Zobrist is turning to dust I think it doesn't make much sense to trade either Happ or Baez. To me that leaves Schwarber and Almora as the most likely guys to be moved. But they really don't need to trade anyone, Theo and Co. have a myriad of options on how to plug holes.
  7. Too bad, he holds the Nats back (especially in the playoffs).
  8. Yeah I'll definitely be rooting for whoever comes out of the AL. Houston would be ideal but I would enjoy Starlin getting a ring too. Although I fear it is LA's year. They are making it look easy right now.
  9. No stress right now, just appreciate 2016 even more and this great core of young players and fantastic front office. Go get 'em next year.
  10. Is it wrong that molly knight's whining about the announcers is bothering me? I kinda want to drop a big hot piece of dung on that thread. They're supposed to get excited for big plays!
  11. Schwarber very recently hit a big ole dong off a lefty. Why not leave him in? Eh more just frustrated with Joe overall. He's forced the OF lefties to go against the dodger lefties while Happ rots on the bench. Also the Game 2 Lackey thing (Davis and Strop should have been fresh), Strop/Heyward/Zobrist double switch.
  12. Joe's lineups continue to mystify me. Schwarber against the lefty and no Happ? He is sooooooo lucky we won it last year, he deserved to be the goat.
  13. Nice post TT. The vaunted Brewers "scare" me more than the Cardinals. Anything can happen but I feel very, very good about the Cubs chances to control the division for at least the next 4 seasons.
  14. I'm already kinda perplexed at the weirdos sobbing over this bearded miscreant getting his ass gone. Mostly nostalgia, he gave us the best season ever by a Cubs pitcher. And knowing we need to find two SP as good or better as he was this year, roughly, makes me a little uneasy. Yeah, all I care about going forward is the beard-sized hole he'll leave in the rotation. I like the Lester, Q, Hendrix trio a lot but we're gonna have a lot of pitching holes to fill this offseason.
  15. Hopefully they work out some extensions during that time as well. Don't want to go into that offseason with your entire lineup heading into free agency lol.
  16. I must be the only person who doesn't mind people being called out for coming off the bag if only for a split second during a slide. Find a way to stay in contact and you're always taught to keep the tag applied.
  17. Head says Astros in 6 but Yankees have some mojo working. Hoping for a draining, entertaining series because I don't give one horsefeather who wins this.
  18. Eh to be fair Theo also said they were getting close to being sellers. That trade for Q was such a shot in the arm, I knew they were gonna take off in the second half.
  19. I played the superstition game with this one as well. I watched Silence of the Lambs and the news but was checking in constantly but making sure not watch during any action because that messed with the juju lol. The Cubs did good things when I didn't watch and bad things when I did watch so I rolled with that through about the 6th inning when Monty got in trouble and my system had been debunked. I knew this was going to be a crazy ass game so I paced myself. Thankfully it worked out in the end. I sat calmly on the couch watching nearly the entire time. I stood and clapped quietly to myself during the Scherzer inning, then stood nibbling on some pistachios during the 9th. Most of the superstitious viewing habits died for me once the Cubs beat the Pirates. I was at a dive bar with a couple Pirates fans, then about a dozen or more joined us. Ha, well I pull out all the stops for elimination games. I also didn't want to get too drunk as the boozing has caught up to me a bit this week.
  20. It was mostly an active decision; I was just too damn anxious by the time the game rolled around, so I knew I wasn't going to be watching all or most of the game unless the Cubs took and held a decent early lead or Hendricks looked amazing. Too nervous. I think a huge part of it are TBS' horrible, horrible announcers. It's some kind of Pavlovian response where as soon as I hear their voices I think the worst is going to happen. 21. The nats scared me more due a number of factors. 5 games instead of 7, the known factor of Daniel Murphy and his douchebagginess, and the general unknown factor of the nats. We've seen these dodgers before (mostly) and am confident. Win.
