  1. Hopefully they work out some extensions during that time as well. Don't want to go into that offseason with your entire lineup heading into free agency lol.
  2. I must be the only person who doesn't mind people being called out for coming off the bag if only for a split second during a slide. Find a way to stay in contact and you're always taught to keep the tag applied.
  3. Head says Astros in 6 but Yankees have some mojo working. Hoping for a draining, entertaining series because I don't give one horsefeather who wins this.
  4. Eh to be fair Theo also said they were getting close to being sellers. That trade for Q was such a shot in the arm, I knew they were gonna take off in the second half.
  5. I played the superstition game with this one as well. I watched Silence of the Lambs and the news but was checking in constantly but making sure not watch during any action because that messed with the juju lol. The Cubs did good things when I didn't watch and bad things when I did watch so I rolled with that through about the 6th inning when Monty got in trouble and my system had been debunked. I knew this was going to be a crazy ass game so I paced myself. Thankfully it worked out in the end. I sat calmly on the couch watching nearly the entire time. I stood and clapped quietly to myself during the Scherzer inning, then stood nibbling on some pistachios during the 9th. Most of the superstitious viewing habits died for me once the Cubs beat the Pirates. I was at a dive bar with a couple Pirates fans, then about a dozen or more joined us. Ha, well I pull out all the stops for elimination games. I also didn't want to get too drunk as the boozing has caught up to me a bit this week.
  6. It was mostly an active decision; I was just too damn anxious by the time the game rolled around, so I knew I wasn't going to be watching all or most of the game unless the Cubs took and held a decent early lead or Hendricks looked amazing. Too nervous. I think a huge part of it are TBS' horrible, horrible announcers. It's some kind of Pavlovian response where as soon as I hear their voices I think the worst is going to happen. 7. The nats scared me more due a number of factors. 5 games instead of 7, the known factor of Daniel Murphy and his douchebagginess, and the general unknown factor of the nats. We've seen these dodgers before (mostly) and am confident. Win.
  8. The NLCS clinch last year was pure joy, but as far as level of drama I think only game 7 tops it. And that's only because it was game 7 of the freaking World Series. This one might have been wilder.
  9. Oh man what a game. I am spent. Eat horsefeathers Daniel Murphy!
  10. Go Yankees and go Arizona. F Trevor Bauer.
  11. I've been thinking about the happiness quote from mad men a lot lately. Good thing the corbs seem to be obliging my wishes!
  12. Ugh, nerves definitely kicking in. Sucks that the game is during work for me. I know I won't be able to get anything done with a Cubs playoff game going on.
  13. That really sucked, I thought we had them until the vaunted 8th inning struck. I just don't have faith in carl in big spots, he seems to lose his confidence and composure easily. Up 2-0 in a best of 5 is basically over, hopefully we can recover.
  14. They are so incredibly loyal to matheney and I couldn't be happier. That front office is absurdly conservative. Their farm system continues to produce uselful players but they seem to go out of their way to avoid acquiring a real impact player. I too would be throwing a fit.
  15. I could see a case being made for the division series to be 7 games instead of 5 but overall I think they're pretty much perfect. I love the wildcard games.
  16. There are many like it but this one is ours.....
  17. I like that nobody is picking the cubs. Go team.
  18. LOL, what a BS thing to say at the end of the season where you had every opportunity to make your point. Delusional.
  19. http://www.12up.com/posts/5612544-cardinals-pitcher-actually-believes-st-louis-is-better-than-the-cubs Is this for real, the site feels fake and they identify Carpenter as a pitcher so maybe this is fake news? "I feel like we are the better team." You cannot say that when you finish 9 games behind another team and they work you over all season. :nono: :nono:
  20. I'm nervous like I always am when the Cubs are in the playoffs but it is so much different than in years past. Nothing can hurt me now, I actually feel confident and if we lose then whatever, go get 'em next year. In 2003 I was so heartbroken I didn't watch 1 second of that world series, same with 2008. Win or lose I'm sure I'll consume every second I can of these playoffs. They should be great; obviously I want us to win but I think this is the Tribe's year.
  21. I know it's meatbally but it bothers me that the Yankees got all the headlines for the interview bit when the cubs have been doing it for at least half the season. I'm definitely rooting against them in the playoffs now, starlin be damned.
  22. I love Matheny checking the replay with that blank look on his face. LOL! No dice Mike!
  23. I like it, would be nice to win and want Schwarber to get #30.
  24. Caratini Avila Lastella Freeman Leonys Schwarber I think those 6 for sure, maybe Heyward and Addison too.
