  1. Ugh Bruce. You killed Illinois basketball and nary a consequence. F that guy forever.
  2. He regularly comes unhinged on the twitters. Being injured so much lately probably contributes to his issues.
  3. Yeah, works fast and all business.
  4. It sounds like he had become an oversensitive douche on twitter lately but he was on the Cubs team that went all the way, so I wish him well.
  5. Yeah, really feels like the offseason to round out the roster and they are doing just that.
  6. I would guess that in terms of major league WAR not many trades in Cub history compare to the Aramis trade. Not quite Aramis level, but Choi for Lee was pretty awesome too. Yeah, Hendry made some great moves early in his tenure. 2008 really broke him though, that offseason was a trainwreck and I knew the party was over.
  7. I wonder if he regrets not taking the 3/$42 the Cubs supposedly offered. The VB should be all over this guy right now.
  8. Good thing Theo was/is running things instead of Jeff Samardizja.
  9. Jonny should only concern himself with balls hit directly at him. 3rd base line is KB/Willy territory. yeah, that's kind of the whole... oh, just read the horsefeathering article But I'm very, very, very lazy. Username out front shoulda told ya! :hello:
  10. Didn't read the article but the jog a few steps and underhand thing seems to have been working out fine. not so much on a bunt toward the 3rd base line Jonny should only concern himself with balls hit directly at him. 3rd base line is KB/Willy territory.
  11. Didn't read the article but the jog a few steps and underhand thing seems to have been working out fine.
  12. Infield Randal Grichuk. Good luck with that.
  13. Yeah. Cobb seemed like an ok acquisition but I'd rather just roll with Montgomery than spend money on Mikolass.
  14. Yeah it’s ST and his first start so stats are mostly meaningless but that’s a rough debut for a guy who sucked last time he was in MLB and hasn’t pitched in MLB in years. I do think the Cardinals' rotation has the chance to implode if Mikolas sucks and Wainwright continues to struggle. Wacha has had problems staying healthy. I think the Cubs have a much stronger rotation now. We should make a thread or poll for when we think MM will get fired lol. I'll say right around early August after the trade deadline. Agreed. I think they'll score plenty of runs but this rotation doesn't scare me at all. Surprised we haven't heard them connected to Jake, Cobb, etc. more. (although they do love to keep their powder dry....)
  15. The picture from spring training last year is almost as startling. I don't remember him being *that* fat. However, I imagine the buffet circuit is intense the year after you're the world series hero.
  16. I'm only quoting this so we can all enjoy the beauty more He looks glorious.
  17. Yeah the brewers had so much more winning to fall back on, even before the 2016 WS.
  18. That's this close to Theo drunknely raving about how he can't believe how little they have to pay Quintana. yeah i'm sure jose loves hearing about how the cubs were just able to give a top 20 pitcher $126 million because he's a top 20 pitcher on a $26 million contract. Theo is the greatest and everyone knows this. But this seemed like tooting his own horn a little too much. Maybe a preemptive thought against the backlash that might come if Eloy is good enough.
  19. Maybe an incentive to keep him from opting out? Any way you slice this I love this deal though.
  20. But will it have mitt-popping potential?
  21. That is some mental gymnastiness right there. So having cost-controlled pitchers which allows you to go out an spend for position players is "mitt-popping," but if you have cost-controlled position players and spend on SPs in the free market, you are banking on past performances?!? http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/2013/03/does-not-get-it.gif The whole thing reeked of envy masked as sanctimony.
  22. Seeing on twitter that there is an opt out? If so I'm cool with that.
  23. Hell yeah, love what they have done this offseason. Good luck to Jake.
