Lately I've thought that maybe he is now comfortable with the Cubs and his contract and simply doesn't GAF and is going to be this kind of player (the player we thought we were getting) for the rest of his contract. Would be nice. He really has improved every year at the plate for the Cubs.

Even though he'd get $10 mil in deferred signing bonus if he opts out, I think he'd be crazy to do it. Nobody is giving him 4/$76 given how free agency has gone the past couple of years. I thought his second opt out was after year 5 of the deal (2020) but that doesn't appear to be the case. Anyway still great to see him playing this well, obviously.

2016 world champions. Every single win since then has been gravy. They are in a bad stretch. Nobody is running away with the division. Some off days coming up. Much needed. I am a little drunk and don’t care.

I saw one highlight from this guy and it was very impressive. Big blocked shot on one end, ran the floor well and finished with huge windmill jam. Camby is a good comp, I was also thinking Clint Capela-ish. I think those guys are needed in today's NBA and hopefully he's a nice front-court compliment to Lauri and Wendell.

After starting slow, he has his OPS over .800. His K% is about 26%, which is about 10% lower than it was at the majors last year. So maybe sort of encouraging. I’d rather Happ than Descalso on the roster at this point, but that’s not saying much. Yeah, definitely. Happ can play IN/OF, switch hit. Bring up Happ and let him dispose of Descalso's body.
