  1. Maybe they like them too much, if you know what I mean. The Cubs are 29 and 44 Against the D-Backs The DBags own the Cubs. They are the one team I always feel the least comfortable about the Cubs playing. Well, the DBacks and the Reds.
  2. 2/6M would be a pretty decent deal for Monroe. hahahahaha. Oh, wait. You're probably not joking. Sadly, in this market he's probably right.
  3. As politely as he could, Hendry basically made it clear that Monroe is here to face LHP. I'm thinking/hoping he's going to be Jacque's platoon partner in CF, the top bat off the bench to face lefties out of the pen and get an occasional start on the corner based on matchups. I would be willing to bet $10 that most of his starts will be in for Murton. If the Cubs make the playoffs Murton will not be on the playoff roster and will be traded when his value is its lowest this off-season. People keep complaining about Monroe replacing Murton. True, Murton is much better than Monroe, and this move likely spells the end of his playing time. But even if this is the case, it won't have any perceptible effect because Murton hardly plays as it is.
  4. Can anyone get this??? I have the 2004 montage done by WGN. Here it is: (WARNING: May be painful to watch) I almost cut myself a little just now. Well, seeing that again just about did the work for me.
  5. Does anyone remember this game besides me?
  6. Bring up Gameday for that game and click the "away hits" box. Ridiculous.
  7. I hated it at first. I disliked it when I realized the Cubs weren't going to have to pay him much, and I love it now.
  8. Based on their recent play, I'd be real happy with either one in the second spot in the order for the time being. 07/30 - 08/21 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP Jones 77 8 28 9 0 3 46 18 4 10 0.364 0.395 0.597 0.992 0.391 Kendall 60 10 20 4 1 1 29 14 12 6 0.333 0.452 0.483 0.935 0.358 Yeah but those numbers show that since the 30th of July, Kendall has had far more patience at the plate, so he's clearly the better candidate out of the two to bat in the second spot according to frontloaded lineup construction, OBP-wise. ISoP Kendall: .119 Jones: .031 Totally agree. I think Kendall is perfect for the 2 spot.
  9. Just get the ball out of the infield, please.
  10. He needed to go a couple of weeks ago. This beyond just being a slump for the Little Lord.
  11. Of all the stupid things in baseball, sliding into first is by a wide margin the stupidest.
  12. Pie is not allowed to bat anymore apparently, but Fontenot and his sub .600 OPS since the break gets to. Hell I would have been happy with Floyd Pie Ward in the OF if it means DeRo is at 2nd and not Fontenot. Yeah, I think Fontenot has long passed his useful period. But since he was hot 2 months ago, Lou is overlooking the fact that he has been awful for well over a month.
  13. That's true, until the Brewers have to start paying their core players. And the Cubs should be fine for the next 2-3 years, especially if Hendry is replaced by someone competent.
  14. Plenty of great players were taken in later rounds. You can't really make a case for Pujols. At all. Or Morris for that matter.
  15. Hah, that's profane. It's wrong and offends nearly every one of my sensibilities. I also laugh every time I see it. I'm going to hell.
  16. I know I'll be labeled a heretic, but this is one of the reasons I'd kind of like to see a new stadium. I hate rain delays/postponements. Hate hate hate them. Retractable roofs are nice. On a semi-related note, I still can't believe the new stadium in Minneapolis is going to be totally open air.
  17. I chose the Yankees, though they and the Red Sox are really synonymous as far as ESPN goes.
  18. And they scored most of their runs off of Elizardo Ramirez and Mike Stanton. I like the Reds' chances tomorrow in the Harang vs. Capuano matchup. And the Zambrano vs. Wells matchup is good for us.
  19. And then they go to Arizona (and will face Webb in the series), while we go to San Francisco. Look for the Cubs to open it up a bit early this coming week.
  20. Fat troll Valentin flies out to end the inning.
  21. It could have been a big inning Yes it could have. It also could have scored no runs.
  22. Hatteberg with an RBI single.
  23. At least a run scored.
