  1. Well we are two games behind Milwaukee and St. Louis and they are both playing above their heads. Meanwhile we have had one game with our opening day lineup. And we're not going to anytime soon. That's true, but I refuse to believe that Soto and Bradley and Lee are as bad as they have played so far. I agree, save Soto perhaps.
  2. Yup. Yeah, but get back to me in a week. Let's see if we're still 2.5 out (doubt it and not for the better, either) Who do we have next? Our next stretch includes 6 games with San Diego, 3 each with STL, HOU and PITT. MIL and STL play each other 6 times over the next couple weeks, so that will help.
  3. Less than half of them, but it doesn't make me feel any better.
  4. They've has a good case tonight, and so have the Brewers.
  5. The very sight of Aaron Miles fills me with a terrible rage.
  6. What a night. Earlier he Cardinals announcers called the Brewers' "untuck 'em" celebration the most disrespectful and classless thing in the game today. It'll be a great way to finish this night off.
  7. Stetter is really tough vs. lefties. I'm not liking Kosuke's chances here.
  8. Garrett Atkins might be had for relatively little, due to it being his walk year, his poor start and Ian Stewart.
  9. I'm guessing he tore his left triceps or separated/tore something in his left shoulder. I am not expecting good news. That said, if Bradley starts hitting, it will soften the blow significantly.
  10. It was his throwing shoulder. :( No it wasn't. Did I miss something? He landed on his right hand, screwing up his right shoulder. Is that not his throwing shoulder? Screw you Miles, you piece of trash. He landed on his left arm, took the glove off with his right hand, and grabbed his left arm/shoulder.
  11. Have you been to LA since they got Manny? He is like a living legand in LA right now. I think he's bigger than Kobe in that town right now. That's exactly what I am bitching about. It's ridiculous. Manny is still more of a Red Sox icon than anything, hell, I identify him more with Cleveland than L.A. It would be like having called Brett Favre a Jets icon last season. Except Favre sucked and Manny arguably singlehandedly took them to the playoffs. Regardless, Manny has been a Dodger for about less than one season of a 16 year career. I heard some Dodgers fans say they thought today was the darkest day in their baseball following lives. Are [expletive] kidding me? I think Red Sox and Cleveland fans should be more upset, wondering if the years of Manny they got (all the best of his career, BTW) were legit. Leave it to Angelenos to lay claim to a player whose legacy has so little to do with them, their city or their team.

  13. Someone in the game thread tonight posted a report that he heard that said that Soto is more hurt than the Cubs are letting on, and to not expect 2008 numbers from him this year at all. At this point, I'm not expecting anything remotely close.
  14. I don't care what anyone says, Bradley is feeling the pressure and pressing. After he hit his RBI single tonight he took a huge breath and exhaled with obvious relief, much like I do after a Gregg (or Wood/Beck) save. Milton does not look like a comfortable guy right now.
  15. Baseball>>College Hoops>>>>NFL>College Football>NBA>NHL
  16. Good for you making decisions based on a month of this guy's offensive stats. good for you for putting thoughts into my head, did it ever occur to you that i may have had this opinion way back in the early offseason? And do you think that one month has validated that opinion?
  17. The most annoying thing in all of this is how Dodger fans are acting like their dog was shot over a wishy-washy player who has been a part of their organization for less than one full season. Sure, it has to be disappointing, but it's not like Ramirez is some sort of Dodger icon. Jeez.
  18. Seriously though, Pujols is probably the most prolific non-steroidal offensive force any of us have seen in our lives. His numbers are just disgusting. If Pujols continues his performance for another year or so this point becomes moot, but Frank Thomas's beginning of career numbers compare well to Pujols's. A couple of years ago I would have agreed (in fact I made that very case on this board), but over the last season or two Pujols has maintained performance better than Thomas did in his corresponding seasons.
  19. Most fans feel that way about their team. I know I do.
  20. Football is a fine way to pass the offseason, I guess. I really enjoy watching football, but I wouldn't miss it a whole lot if it were gone.
