  1. I was skeptical at first, too, but a month and a half into it he's pitching like he's earned every penny. wait, what? His ERA looks bad, but most of his peripherals are right in line with last year, save his opponents SLG. His k/9 is up, his k/bb is down a shade, but still higher than any other year except 2008, his opp. avg and obp are about the same, and his WHIP is good. Basically the only thing he has done wrong is leave a few pitches up at inopportune times. which have turned into homers. Time will tell.
  2. I was thinking about this the other night, and I just saw a similar piece on MLB.com. My question is this: If you could pick any one position player to build a new team around, taking all factors into consideration, who would it be? I'll list my top 5: 1.Albert Pujols - He's the best offensive player in the game, he's a good defender, and he's still young enough to build around. 2.Hanley Ramirez - He's dynamic offensively, and while his defense isn't great, you'll be getting outstanding production from a position where it is a bonus. 3.Evan Longoria - Young, great hitter, great defender. 4.Miguel Cabrera - A great hitter who I think can still get a lot better. T5-David Wright/Ryan Braun- Braun has a little more offensive upside, whereas Wright is a very good defender.
  3. Yeah, they really went in the toilet. Nolasco and his near 8 era is the most surprising thing, IMO.
  4. The whole Trevor Hoffman/Hells Bells thing just isn't the same in Milwaukee.
  5. He's very good against everyone. But you've got a great hitter in the middle of the worst offense in the game. There is literally no reason to give him drivable pitches. yeah but he's the first batter of the inning. unless the rest of the offense is pitchers, it's a pretty bad idea to just give a free pass to a leadoff hitter. No, but you don't feed the middle of the zone, either. Pitch him borderline, and if you lose him, you lose him. He's the only guy in their lineup who has proven he can hurt you. It's Ryan Dempster, it's not like he can put the ball exactly where he wants it. And it's not like the guy can't drive a borderline pitch either. True, but that was a meatball. But I wouldn't be bitching about this if I hadn't seen what I've seen the past couple nights.

  7. I've been trying to figure this out for three days now.

  9. Hardy got took out a couple innings ago due to a headach. But besides that, no one. Wierd.
  10. Who got hurt in the milwaukee game? There was an injury delay This is why I hate working at night. I'm reduced to gameday.
  11. Lou has to get Hoff in there. Derrek's not helping the team or himself at this point.
  12. I'm not sure, but someone might have mentioned that a HR was reversed in the MIL/FLA game as well.
  13. Either he missed his location, or he wasn't thinking much at all.
  14. It's certainly possible. Part of his problem may be his back, but I think his approach has changed as well. I am convinced his problem is a result of his trying to pull everything, which itself may be because he doesn't feel like he can wait back on pitches (b/c of his reduced bat speed), so he tries to cheat on the FB. Whatever the cause, it seems his numbers started suffering when he stopped going the other way as much. At the very least, I think Hoff should play until Derrek's back is 100%.
  15. Gameday made both of Theriot's look like first row/basket jobs. Was this the case?
  16. Because he couldn't catch a blooper with his back to home plate in a swirling wind, he can't play defense anymore? But yeah I believe the numbers say that he isn't the same defensive 1B as he was earlier in his career. He's slipped. but he's still well above average, IMO. He can still pick 'em, which is the most important thing. But offensively he's a total disaster.
  17. If Lee were a horse, he'd probably have been shot by now.
  18. Theriot's going to create his own 50/50 club 50HR and 50CS. well, he only has two CS so he has some work to do on that Plus he's 7 and 1 in his last eight steal attempts, why do people think he sucks at stealing bases? Sample size. He was bad all of last year.
  19. What's up the Brewers game? Gameday said it was 8-7, now it says it's 8-5....
  20. LOL Let's be honest, we were all thinking it.
