  1. Bengals Pats Eagles Cardinals
  2. Oh good, you confused Alabama with Kentucky. Nah, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi....all interchangeable parts.
  3. Congrats, but Nick Saban in an ass. This is immutable fact. He's a great coach, but a total ass. If he were the coach of Florida or something, you'd be talking about what an ass he is as well.
  4. Seriously? How much playing time has Gilbert had in his college career? Thrust into a game he hadn't mentally prepared for against one of the top (if not the top) defenses in the country. Texas isn't a running team... Oh yeah, and it's the national championship game... Let's ignore the fact he played great most of the second half, and Jordan Shipley was playing out of his mind. Well, the fact that he did is the entire point I was making... just completely unexpected. Anyway, I'm off to bed! He played well, the Alabama defense didn't go to sleep or something. I don't think McCoy would have done a much better job in that second half. The first half, that's a different story.

  6. Man, those are some sour [expletive] grapes. well, it is a sham title... eeking out a victory as a heavy favorite and the underdog loses (by far) their most important player almost at kickoff... It was fortuitous, for sure. But a "sham"? Not so much.

  8. It looks like Jordan Shipley and a cloud if dust to me.
  9. I'm here. I was wrong, but I still can't bring myself to care. I hate both these teams too much to prefer one over the other. It's a no-win situation.
  10. you knew that mccoy was going to get hurt? Bama was winning this game regardless. The only difference the injury makes will be in the margin of victory. if mccoy was still playing then the game would be close right now. so maybe wait until alabama puts up more points before bragging about a prediction I'm not bragging, and you have no idea what would have happened had McCoy not been hurt. And McCoy wouldn't be the one stopping Bama from pushing the Texas D around. I have no love for Alabama or the SEC, but they're a much better team than UT.

  12. If McCoy had stayed healthy, especially after the start they had, this would be a competitive game. I have no idea why Texas didn't just get in to the locker room as soon as possible there. Eh, I think it was at least a 2-3 TD game with McCoy. W/o him, we might see one of those lovely 55-14 type affairs.
  13. This game had bloodbath written all over it before kickoff. No surprise here. Honestly I think BSU or TCU would have put up a better fight.
  14. As much as I dislike the southeast, I hate Texas more. Screw them both. At least I could derive pleasure from seeing the disappointment on the faces of the Texans who infest this town, but otoh, we'd have to deal with redflash....
  15. Well of course. He doesn't get hit in practice. Yeah, a game speed pass rush that consistently cuts through your o-line like a hot knife through butter may cause re-evaluation.
  16. The Cards may end up running away with it, but I wouldn't hand them the title to them. They could, yes. But they are also one injury away from being in serious trouble. If someone like Carpenter goes down for half the season or more, they simply don't have the resources to overcome it (though poor play from division rivals could help), and could end up looking way up at the Cubs. They are a top heavy team and the Holliday signing does not change this. What it does do is make it likely they remain top heavy. I don't see them as being clearly superior, and talk that they are going to dominate the division for the foreseeable future is patently ridiculous. I try to stay away from predicting anything in January, but it does seem that the Cards have the upper hand as of right now. Having the upper hand I'll agree with. Being a clear cut favorite to control the division? I don't think so. That's what was being said about the Cubs before last season, and there was a better case for that claim.

  18. No, your arguments are obtuse and contrarian. Consistently. Saying someone is being willfully obtuse is not the same as saying they are obtuse. In fact, to consistently adapt to every argument to find the most contrary position indicates that you are not obtuse.
  19. I don't buy into any of this bad luck vs. pixie dust crap, I just think all this doom-saying is a touch ridiculous. The Cubs are going to compete in 2010, and the Cards aren't running away with anything.
  20. The Cubs had injury prone guys get injured. Zambrano isn't injury prone, neither is Soto, Ramirez is injury prone. Lilly isn't injury prone. Hmmm. Zambrano perhaps isn't "injury prone," but its no secret he's been getting tweaky in recent years. I don't think it's a stretch to have predicted significant time out of action in '09 for him. He's been putting a lot of mileage on his arm. Lilly hasn't been injured with us, but missed time with the Blue Jays. It could be argued that he was due. Soriano is the annoying case. The guy was never, ever hurt before he came to the Cubs. And while Z has been tweaky, it was never really anything more than his chronic cramping/hydration problem, at least before 2009.
  21. schumaker and ryan suck when pujols banks next offseason, the cardinals are going to have half of their payroll committed to 2 players every year. that's never good. and what if carpenter goes down again? then you have about 55-60 million going to 2 guys when your payroll is usually around 90 million. i'm not necessarily saying it's a bad move, but it definitely is going to make money really tight pretty much every season and basically takes you out of the running for any premiere free agent over the next several offseasons I think a lot of Cards fans are under the impression Albert is going to give the team another discount because he is oh so in love with the STL. Albert gave the Cards a discount, gave them a title, and now he is going to get paid, be it by the Cards or by someone else. And Carpenter is always potentially a start away from the end of his season, and outside of he and Waino, it gets unpredictable at best. The pen is a question, and the farm is in shambles. The Cardinals are in good shape, but they're not frightening anyone long term because they cannot absorb many blows at all.
  22. That's just stupid. Of course they didn't like him from day one, he was the guy replacing the charismatic coach that recruited them. It's like one of your parents getting re-married. You aren't going to like the replacement by default. In many cases, guys like Deron and Dee transfer before they even meet the new guy.
  23. His last 4 years outside of Coors... 2009 - .909 2008 - .892 2007 - .860 2006 - .819 I'm seeing a trend. yeah, madd dogg is just looking bitter. there's no doubt that holliday is a great player. he's not as good as his numbers while in colorado, but i think his overall 2009 numbers are pretty accurate I don't think it's paying more than he's worth, or that he's not a great player. It's just that I think he could have been had for less because there was literally no other team bidding for his services.
