While I certainly wouldn't call the Tanaka signing a bust, I can't imagine that too many would have been as eager to sign him (and I doubt the Yankees would have invested as much as they did) if they knew he'd miss a huge chunk of his first season because of an elbow issue, then have to dial it down the next year, ostensibly to prevent that elbow from exploding. None of it augurs well, for the near future, at least. He should have just had the elbow operated on, imo. The Yankees probably aren't going to the postseason this year, and if his elbow blows up late in the season, then it's going to impact 2016 heavily. Even if nothing happens this year, there's going to be a death watch over Tanaka's (presumably less effective) arm until the seemingly inevitable strikes.
