  1. It goes without saying, but Hawk is comprehensively detestable. I really feel like I wouldn't really mind the Sox nearly as much if it weren't for him. But he just makes you want all the bad things to happen to that team out of pure spite for him.
  2. picture looked crappy in ST but it's great for me now. Oh, it's still really good, just not quite as good as the EI broadcasts. I've never had EI but I like the H/A feed options for MLB.tv Yeah, and being able to navigate so easily between highlights is great for when I want to listen to the other team's broadcasters mope.

  4. This is my first year with MLB.tv after several years with EI. The picture quality is a small step down, but I love everything else about it (and it's much cheaper).
  5. In terms of overall buildup, hype and media attention, I can't recall a more highly anticipated Cubs prospect debut. Most of that is Bryant himself, but the service time issue has increased the exposure. And many see him as being one of the (if not the biggest) finishing touches on the long and highly publicized rebuild.
  6. Wasn't that the AB where he whiffed on two straight meatballs before hitting the third one out? The result was great, but the AB wasn't exactly stellar. He whiffed on the first, but fouled the second one straight back, iirc.
  7. I am actually pretty confident about Coghlan's bat. I just wish there was a spot to put him where his glove wouldn't be a liability.
  8. Good. The hardest voice to listen to in all of sports media, imo. Dickie V Eh, I detest Vitale's persona, but the sound of Holtz's voice is the worst. He's the exemplar of the saying "he/she talks like they have a mouthful of [expletive]". It is not a voice meant for public speaking or broadcast of any sort.
  9. Good. The hardest voice to listen to in all of sports media, imo.
  10. Listening to Kruk and Schilling trying to talk coherently is painful.
  11. this is why i can't wait for bryant and schwarber. any weather is dong weather for those types. I think Soler and probably Rizzo fall into that category as well.
  12. I'm blacked out of the Cubs' broadcasts down here, but it was worth it to hear the Rox broadcast in the ninth today. And really, outside of the ninth it was a pretty aggravating game to watch.
  13. Why? I think Rizzo has had some really good at bats, least of our worries. Like I said, it's irrational. He has put together good ABs, and has been victimized by some really bad strike calls early. On the other hand, Soler's approach hasn't seemed to be quite what is was in ST, at least not consistently, thus far. I'm sure he'll settle down.
  14. There were a few times when Hawkins was ahead in the count that the catcher motioned for him to keep the ball down, and every time he elevated it. In the Olt AB, it turned into top of the zone heater. When I saw him motion to keep the ball down on the 0-2 to Fowler, I had a feeling a meatball might be coming.
  15. I'm not too worried about the offense. If they keep getting runners on, things will sort themselves out. There have been some bad ABs, but quite a bit of bad babip luck. I do have a little bit of (irrational, hopefully) growing fear about Rizzo, though.
  16. I know it's early and optimism abounds, but the Rox announcers are borderline delusional about the quality of their club.
  17. Has to be, I don't remember him going over 95-96. The Rockies' gun had him at 98 last night.
  18. That works. Hawkins hasn't been able to keep the ball down all inning, and it finally bit him.
  19. Hit in the wrist by a pitch. ugh After watching the replay (and Olt's reaction), I thought there was no way it wasn't broken, so the negative x-rays were a welcome surprise.
  20. They already had to use Motte just to get out of the 5th. There's only so many guys in the bullpen to use, and today is the first of 6 straight. The other real option was Jaxon, which probably would have resulted in further histrionics. My hate for Schlitter is somewhat irrational. That said, and I'm probably alone here, I'd almost trust Jackson more.
  21. The options aren't pretty. Edwards Jokisch Ortiz Parker Rosscup ETA: It's the 6th man in the pen, the options aren't supposed to be pretty. I'd take Blake Parker or Rosscup over Schlitter. Those guys can at least miss bats. I hope they drive him almost all the way back to Des Moines and put him up on top of one of those wind turbines in western Iowa and leave him there. Though as David said, the bigger problem is bringing him into a close game. In Colorado. If he must be on the team, he should be strictly a garbage time pitcher.
