  1. I've never been able to understand anyone who chooses their team alliegance as an adult. It's like they are from outer space. That said though, I can see rooting for a secondary team to a degree, especially if they aren't really in competition with your primary team. For me it would be just more or less a diversion than real fan-dom, though.
  2. This one is being discussed in transactions: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=46601
  3. I remember that game so vividly, I was winning by 5 points going into Monday night for my fantasy game. I only had Rex Grossman, he had no players left. So I can safely expect to win, right? Wrong He scores -6 points so I lose by 1 point and miss the playoffs by 1 game to the guy that beat me in that game. Ouch, thats a good fantasy story. I probably would have pulled him from the game, but I don't think anyone expects to get -6 points Prior to the game Rex had been tearing up the league though.
  4. That's Luis Gonzalez. This is Juan Gonzalez. Ah, good point. When I saw Gonzo in the thread title I immediately thought of Luis. I was like wut?
  5. Wait. You sayin' yet another Cubs top pick has been wasted? I wouldn't call it "wasted" if we end up trading him for a tangible asset like Roberts. :D Good point 8-)
  6. Wtf? (didn't we have a smiley for that?) None of that *** for me, please, I demand the chance to renew on time. Ahh, now *that's* a fine display of brown nosing. Grats!

  8. The Orioles overrate Roberts' value, IMO. I wish Hendry would just come out and declare the deal dead.
  9. A decent Roberts deal to the Cubs is 100% guaranteed never to happen. My predictions suck bones, so hopefully this will get things moving.
  10. Yeah, Belichick was already a good ways up the tunnel before the final snap was made. That's what people were upset about it. And yup, it's just another thing to add on the long list of Belichick's classless behavior. It just makes it even harder for people who aren't fans of the Patriots to root for them in any game. Exactly, it doesn't change my opinion at all of the man - I've considered him classless for quite some time now. What it should do (but I doubt it will), is once and for all end this ridiculous crap about the Patriots being a "classy and professional" organization. The media obsesses over how "unselfish, professional and utterly classy" the Pats are and this just further proves how much of a crock that is. I've always thought of Belichek as classless too, but to me that just looked like a bunch of people thought the game was over when it wasn't. It's not like Belichek was the only one to come out. There was obviously a mistake. I think it's a bit of an overreaction to just heap all the blame for it on him. Someone let the clock go down to 0:00 when it shouldn't have. I've got no problem with Belichick running out on the field to shake hands. Coughlin and the Giants did too. Problem is, the head referee Mike Carey went to the coaches and told them the game wasn't over and to get back to the sideline. Coughlin did and Belichick didn't. There was confusion at first, but once it was sorted out Belichick should have stayed on the field for one more play. The fact that he didn't shows how little respect he has for other teams. I think it shows that Belichek never even considered he might lose, and so when he did he couldn't think straight and wanted to just go and curl up somewhere. Of course, respecting the other team is never in his repertoire so that comes through at a time like that too. I do agree -- it's clear to me Belichek is self-absorbed and classless. I think there's a pretty large body of work that goes towards that.

  12. I was kind of hoping for a quick, decisive fall into mediocrity rather than something long and protracted. Also, without looking back, I'm sure some have pointed out how incredibly wrong I was about this game. I completely missed this -- never saw it coming. But I was still rooting for Eli on that final drive. Good to see the NFC win a Super Bowl now & again, and thank God Boston sports won't be winning any tri-fectas.
  13. Well I for one never mind the ads, they're still less than a lot of sites throw at you, and internet ads are everywhere anyway. I just filter them out of my brain, kind of like a woman who won't stop jabbering. As long as there are no pop-ups, and nothing's hitting my firewall trying to download to my computer, I'm fine.

Hehe.....I thought he was laughing because I had made such an obvious statement. Not only did I miss the unfortunate comination of keys, but I also inserted an amazing phrasing on top of it. Sometimes my powers of unintentional humor are off the charts.
  15. Ronnie's laughing is one of the best things I've ever heard. I still have ARam jogging home as my desktop wallpaper at work. Been there ever since it was available.
  16. The people who didn't catch it and thus posted serious responses made it funnier. Alright, haha.

  18. You would expect Hendry to say Roberts's name specifically? As for whether or not he's working on moves, he seemed to imply it pretty strongly to me in his comments about still wanting to improve this team before spring training or at least before breaking camp. He went on to talk about how much harder it is to make trades (compared to free agency) depending on your trading partner and pointed out how quickly he got deals done with Atlanta and Oakland (to me that implied, "It's the O's fault that this is dragging on so long, not ours," but I could be reading too much into it). They might not have shown that in the segment on SportsNight. Plus, when Crane Kenney goes on the radio and flat out says that Hendry is still working on deals for two higher profile players, I'd take that as a pretty strong indication that something is going on. They didn't play that part on Sportsnight, no, but it still doesn't mention the O's directly. Sure you could be right, but who knows why Hendry wouldn't even mention he's not talking to the O's? Maybe he just doesn't care to get into it, maybe he has lost confidence that it will *ever* get done. Surely you heard the part where he said he doesn't think any big deals will get done. That seemed pretty black & white to me.
  19. So......I know there won't be a link, but I'm watching Hendry on the replay of Chicago Tribune live, and he's saying it's not likely any big moves will be made, unless it's for some kind of marquee-type player. He said we might tweak the outfield with a right-hander to add to the lefties we have. Again, I don't know how much creedence to give any of this, but it didn't sound like he's working on anything major at all. Yeah, yeah: "Of course he's not going to *SAY* he's working on something big." I know. Just reporting what I heard the man say. He did go on & on about how much he likes DeRosa and how he's happy with the players we have, and........."we're already a better ballclub than we were at the end of last year." Video of Roberts was shown over all of this, but I don't think I heard him mention Roberts' name at all. It was a replay of the original segment, aired on Sportsnight.
  20. What exactly do you mean when you refer to "a healthy Prior" though?
  21. Having a great personality is apparently worth $700k.
  22. It's in Santana's best interest to drag this thing to the last minute in an attempt to get as much as possible.
  23. You guys think Cedeno could get some of the CF duty against tough Lefties? I have no idea if he's any good in center, but if he's serviceable, that would further the chance of Cedeno being a valuable member of the team. We have a huge hole @ SS, regardless of what our organization thinks about Theriot. I expect it will become apparent to even them if Theriot is given the starting job.
