  1. We could do it by winning 3/4, but we would need some help. GB's not out of this thing yet. Look at their schedule, it's cheese outside of the Bears game, and they slaughtered us last time out.
  2. According to this article the Williams "brothers" have been granted their restraining order against the NFL and can return to practice: http://www.kare11.com/sports/sports_article.aspx?storyid=531111&catid=24 I wouldn't know of all the legal-ese or ramifications of this. Just saw it in a google search a minute ago.
  3. Who sees him suddenly turning his career around on another team next year? Ditto :good: If he stays injury-free, I could see him being a league-average type DT. I don't see many pro bowls in Dusty's future. If I'm wrong, more power to him. He's looked pretty darn good when he is healthy though Pretty darn good compared to the better DTs in the league, or just better than the other riff raff we've got? I'd agree with the latter, but I just don't see Dusty reaching that upper eschelon. Again, maybe I'm wrong.

  5. So they signed Huet as the long-term starter then according to those dollars. I think it's safe to say that at least for now, that signing is a failure.
  6. I don't think they are anymore. I'd like to see them give Crawford a few games to show what he's got, then try and move him as well. The most logical choice of someone to move would be Havlat. We might be better off declaring Huet has a phantom "injury" and is out indefinitely, then call up one of our minor league goalies. But of course that won't happen. I don't see why we signed the guy, he's horrible. It's like every time he's in goal we're doomed.
  7. I don't see how they can trade Khabi right now. We'd be in the tank without him. Huet is garbage.
  8. Good opportunity for him. I wish him the best, and I'll probably be watching quite a bit of that network.
  9. LOL, truly hilarious ain't it? Oh well. I won't complain much. It exposed that we really aren't that great. If it makes the Bears look at themselves in a more realistic light rather than carrying on as if they're better than they are, then hopefully that will pay off in the future somehow. Still though, I must echo your sentiment:
  10. That fake was ridiculous. Imagine defending Rose and being faked literally off your feet. One second "I'm gonna stop this guy." The next -- "WTF I'm on my butt?!?" This guy is so incredible. My new favorite number is 1.7
  11. I feel like we can stop their run game if we don't have to worry about the pass too much. And if we can run the ball as well, I think it's a solid matchup for the Bears to take the victory at home. Their rushing defense is ranked 20th right now, that's not so good. Forte should be able to get some room to run. Passing O, 17th. Rushing O, 17th. That's pretty blah, I don't think there's anything in there that creates a real matchup problem, at least on a high level.
  12. Salisbury was annoying, but come to think of it I'd have to say he's better than some of the guys they have on now. I still generally will listen to Clayton's reports though. Whether I agree with everything or not, I feel like he prepares for his bits.
  13. What? Why did you include that? I thought I'd throw a bone since this is a Peavy thread. Hasn't lost all-star talent? If you're going to include this offseason into the mix, then have a look at the 2008 NL all star pitching roster:
  14. We've been beating the bad teams this year, so I would expect the Bears to pull this one out. But I also won't be thinking it means anything, just as the Rams win didn't mean anything (beyond it just being a win, of course).
  15. This is one reason why some of us continue to say Hendry's not all that great a GM.
  16. this....you NEVER take points off the board...it was a stupid call at what turned out to be a critical part of the game. the coaching this year has been horrible. This wasn't taking points off the board. Taking points off the board is accepting a penalty on a made field goal. This is going for it on 4th down from the 1, which teams do all the time, and should do all the time. To pretend that you should NEVER eschew the field goal for a potential TD is absurd. Yeah, I had no problem with going for it. I certainly had a problem with the FB dive play, and the poor execution of the blocking up front. Mainly I don't think it's an overall good strategy to run plays at their strength using your weakness on a critical series of plays on the goal line. I noted Turner learned his lesson the next time down and split Forte out wide for a mismatch TD pass. Should have done something along those lines the first time, IMO.
  17. Lovie Smith, the master of understatement: Yeah. Just a tad.
  18. Completely disagree. The odds that he will have any sort of prolonged success as an amazing returner are extremely low. I think he's lost that step he had and he's not going to get it back. But he's shown enough in his 1.5 as a receiver to make me believe he can keep getting better, and he's going to have much more of an impact there than at returner. I just don't think he has the hands to be a good/great receiver. He might have lost a step, but that could have to do with his hip injury early in the season. I'm hopeful it returns. But even if it does, I don't see that making him some great receiver. In any case, I fear we've seen the best of Hester already... Regardless, he's not going to help the team more as strictly a returner. That's done. He's not a #1, but he could be a tremendous weapon if the Bears actually had a good WR on the other side, and an offensive line that could block for more than 2 seconds. That's why I told everyone I could to enjoy Devin while they could. There is just not a long self life for any dominant return man, let alone one that lives and dies by his speed. I don't mind just keeping him at WR. Just get him off punts, let him concentrate on the receiver position 100%. D. Manning seems to have found a way to add value to the team with his kick returns, and we can grab someone else to return punts. I don't think we could fill 2 WRs on draft day anyway, so it would be nice to have Hester as one of them.
  19. They need to put Williams in now. They need to find out what he can give them, because it will influence their draft-day decisions. They need to see him in real games. There's no way he's worse than JSC anyway. That's not possible. Williams must start.
  20. Probably 2-2 in their last 4, finishing 8-8. Better than I thought they'd be starting the year, but still very frustrating. And we developed more holes than we filled this year, so now it's down to paying too much for too little performance.
  21. I hope we aren't seeing the Orton regression we hoped wouldn't happen.
  22. Ewww. I think I'm gonna flee. Not much weekend time left, don't want to waste it on this.
  23. Can't even get drunk to forget this dammit!
  24. I would have warned you before the game but Cali was going to scold me. So I held back.
