  1. still a questionable OL, crappy receivers, and an aging defense. Bingo. Some people are acting like Cutler is Flutie, Montana, Young, McMahon, Manning and Brady all rolled into one. It's just hard for me to get excited over Cutler since the Bears have had like 30 QBs since I started watching as a little kid in the 70's. Plus I'm not excited about Pace either. He was great 8 to 10 years ago, but now he's getting pretty old in a position that has a very short shelf life. So then, by your logic, you wouldn't be able to get excited over Peyton Manning either. Because after all, the Bears have had 30 QBs since you were a kid. People are excited about actually acquiring a pro bowl QB in his prime for the first time in their lives. I don't see how that's unwarranted.
  2. Because they are so clearly and irrefutably idiotic this time.
  3. Really? I look at it like this: even if Pace is out, we can still slide Williams to LT and Shaffer @ RT, and be in better shape than we were last year. And we're much deeper @ OG, regardless. Remember, we were a pretty good offense for the 1st half of '08: 29,20,27,24,34,20,48,27. And that was with a substandard St. Clair and a tattered Tait @ OT. And Orton @ QB. I think people forget that.
  4. Yeah, where the heck is goony? My main problem is with Schlereth. Dilfer sounded like he was just going along with what stink told him to say in the back room. I didn't hear Schlereth piling on Cutler when he was still a Bronco. But now he's not going to help a team but Orton is really good. I mean come on, what a ridiculous display of stupidity.
  5. that's kinda gay Ok. In my book Jerry has had many an opportunity to strike on the offensive side of the ball and all too often didn't pull the trigger. Moreover, he's very often been too conservative with his 1st rnd picks. This is quite a change and it could make or break his career. There's been nothing of this caliber to cross Jerry's desk since he's been here.
  6. I'm pretty sure we'll be finding out about Jay's singing voice at some point too.
  7. I wonder if they're really buying into that "quarterback record" thing. If they are, I think it's BS. As useless as measure pitchers by wins and losses. Pulling out the team's record to support a QB pretty much means you don't have an argument. The problem with Kyle has been, and always will be, accuracy. Kyle's another in a long line of QB who were just filling the role with the Bears. Whenever the Bears have been contenders, it has come from somewhere on the roster OTHER than QB. Well. That has finally changed. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Orton has no skills. But he's not a plus QB on an NFL team. I can't see how he could ever be, when he can't get over 60% in completion percentage and can't hit his deep throws enough.
  8. Morrisey's backed into a corner. He has to stick with this position, because he called Cutler a crybaby a few days back. When Cutler throws his first 300 yard game Morrisey's going to have to figure out a reason why it still isn't good enough.
  9. Why does the 3rd rounder matter to you? We're still picking in the 3rd round. We had 2 of 'em.
  10. Mark Schlereth thought it was crazy how Bears fans could be excited when we lost our two starting tackles from last year. Nevermind the fact they were terrible and we've replaced them with what are likely better options this year. No offense to Schlereth, but I doubt he even knows the other moves we've made this offseason. We've upgraded both our tackle positions significantly.
  11. April 2nd, 2009. The day our Bear lives completely and totally changed. Wowza.
  12. Even if the Bear somehow signs Holt, I still think the Bears should draft a WR like Britt or Nicks in the 2nd rd. I think it was yesterday, one of the beat reporters for St. Louis was on the radio, and he said Pace still had something left in the tank. But he also said Holt can't run well anymore. I might just spend the #49 on the best receiver available. That's not too far down the draft boards, receivers tend to stay around a bit longer than some other positions. Could be a pretty good one still there.
  13. How can you not know how you feel about getting a 25 yr old Pro Bowl caliber Qb whos signed for 3 more years? I know how I feel, like I just won the freaking lottery. Picks are picks. This is a real star player, just entering his prime.
  14. This thread should be renamed the Bears GET CUTLER thread.
  15. It's alot, but we got that once-in-a-generation opportunity that we've been sooooooo lacking.
  16. That'll do! That's pretty much exactly what we were speculating on here. 2 1sts, a 3rd, and Orton. We still have a 2nd and 3rd this year! The guy is a 25 year old stud QB!!
  17. I think. It's time. For a little. VICTORY DANCE BABY!!1 :stickman: :stickman: :stickman: :stickman: :yahoo: :yahoo:
  18. There is NO FREAKING WAY!! This had better be real!!!!!
  19. rocky mcintosh. and yeah, i'm glad that they just wouldn't give him up. The interest was being driven, to a high degree, by Rosenhaus.
  20. That was a much different situation than this one. It's pretty well known the Redskins will overpay.
  21. I was thinking McCoy would wind up a 1st rounder provided he plays well again next year. 2nd half of the 1st round, something in that range.
  22. It's a little disheartening to see the Redskins enter the fray. They're willing to drive up the price to such an insane degree that it just becomes stupid for reasonable teams to stay in the running.
  23. You mean relative to the Browns. Yeah well we'll see if Denver has the stomach to trade what they know is a Super Bowl capable QB right to a conference rival that they'll have to see over & over again, either in the regular season, or the playoffs, or both. Sending him to the NFC has got to be more comfortable, given how they've bungled the situation so far.
  24. Sheer, unadulterated, BRILLIANCE!
  25. Haha. Yeah. Think of it this way, it illustrates how QB-starved this town really is.
