There's always a good chance Britt won't be there at 49. Everyone says all these receivers are going to be gone. Don't WRs traditionally stick around on the boards a bit, especially after the first couple top guys go? Last year, not a single receiver was taken in the first round. In 2007, there were 5 receivers taken in the first round. Then there was 1 taken in the first round in 2006 and then 6 WRs taken in the first round in 2005. This year, however, teams seem to feel that this crop of receivers are better and more worthy first-round status. There's not another position that has the potential to instantly score on offense quite like receiver, though - besides QB, obviously. That's why GMs and coaches love receivers - they can make big plays at a higher rate than other positions. I really didn't think of this WR class as top-heavy though. More than it has quite a few acceptable prospects that are just below that top level. I was hoping (obviously, for selfish reasons) that this meant several would drop. I mean I can certainly see Crabtree & Maclin getting snapped up quickly. Are all these other guys -- 5, 6 prospects down the line -- so good that they will all warrant being taken above 49? I'm having a hard believing that. We'll see if I'm just being stupid :)
