  1. I'm starting to think maybe Harden *was* tipping his pitches. I like Patton, but Harden getting battered around and then a minor-leaguer shutting them down like that? That seems very weird.
  2. Aaron Moles? Yeah. Check his cell phone history. Might find some recent calls to LaRussa. "Don't worry 'bout it, I got this."
  3. It's like I said. Miles may be wearing Cubbie blue, but he's still playing for the Cards.
  4. I agree. That .328 OPS would look miiiiighty fine right about now. Oh damn you showed me. If you think Miles is a better option at the plate than Cedeno, I dont know what to tell you. Crap ballplayers are crap ballplayers. Why bother getting worked up? Me saying "I miss Cedeno" is getting worked up? Ok didnt realize that. But at least the "crap" ballplayer in Cedeno has more upside, more power, and a better defender than mini-me Miles. Miles is so useless anyone looks decent by comparison.
  5. Kidnapping? Switch baseball teams? I can't switch teams. Perhaps I could go into cryogenic freeze until Miles' contract is up.
  6. I need to have Miles off my baseball team. What are my options?
  7. Now Marquis is Cy Young, every pitch nicely placed and getting outs. Kill me. ](*,)
  8. Sheesh. It figures that Marquis would hold us down while Harden struggles.
  9. I can't believe Carp missing time comes as a surprise to anyone. The chances that a guy who has only pitched about 20 innings in the past 2 years would produce a full season were really slim to begin with. It sucks for him that it came on a play like that, but better now than in August/September, IMO. He was going to miss time somewhere. If the Cards can hang on until he comes back, it might not be such a good thing for us. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I'm not surprised Carp is missing time. Has he had trouble with his oblique before? I was thinking his arm/shoulder wouldn't really hold up. Didn't occur to me that his torso would give out :)
  10. I agree with that. The retractable roof equipment definitely takes away from the outdoor atmosphere when they have it open. It is a rather sterile environment inside. But I still enjoy it. It has different good things than Wrigley -- but IMO it's not close to the Wrigley experience.
  11. Since it isn't his arm, I presume "out for awhile" is going to be something like a few weeks, rather than months. He'll probably still be back this season to cause us grief.
  12. This is what I'm saying, in a nutshell. I think my faith in Chicago to give it time is just very low. I can't wait until the first time Cutler throws a pick and someone tries to compare him to Grossman
  13. i have a feeling that people will see just how worthy we are of extra attention. It's going to be a completely overhauled offense, with a OL that features really only one familiar face, a new QB, and likely a new WR or two. how on earth can you view that as a bad thing? Because even a good thing can take some time to materialize, and Chicago doesn't have an ounce of patience.
  14. Meanwhile, Minny is all but guaranteed to be 5-0.

It's going to be a completely overhauled offense, with a OL that features really only one familiar face, a new QB, and likely a new WR or two. The one thing I can see derailing the works is the impatience of Bear fans. Obviously everyone is expecting fireworks immediately. If they don't get it, discontent will rise rather quickly. How does Cutler handle fans who aren't seeing a TD bomb to Hester on every play? How do the Bears handle it? They haven't handled it very well in the past. Not very well at all. Personally, I can't see the offense clicking on all cylinders until at least half way through the season. Too many new faces all at once. I'm trying to inject a little patience, a little time to get things in place. I hope all Bear fans will do the same, but I seriously doubt it. How can you be impatient for something you've never had before? Just having a QB who can throw the ball down the field has me all giddy inside, and he's yet to throw one down the field. I'm not sure what I'll do when he actually does it the first time, but I'll probably need to have a change of underwear handy. Haha. I really think Bear fans are going to expect Peyton Manning type numbers immediately, and Lovie & crew aren't really targeting that kind of offense. I sense a disconnect.

  17. I'm just saying that for every other team in baseball, you don't even have the option of choosing to listen to/watch your team's own broadcast. If you're lucky enough to have a baseball package that allows you to watch your team out of market, you pretty much take what they give you, whether it's your broadcast or the other teams. In other words, it's not all that sad that you might have to tune into another team's broadcast to get a nice HD picture. For a fan of any other team, that's the only choice, anyway. I don't really have a problem watching another team's broadcast. And I will whenever it's an HD option while WGN is not. But it is an option. Most of the games you can watch whichever broadcast you prefer. I wouldn't either. That's kinda what I'm saying. And yea, if I had to choose, I'd go for the picture over the announcing team, 10/10 times. I'd rather catch Len & Bob if possible. I guess using the word "sad" was a bit overkill. I'm not sitting on my couch crying when I have to tune into the Stros broadcast to get HD, for example. I just wish I could get the Cubs all the time in HD. BTW, you're right, other teams mess things up too. For example, the Brewers broadcast a certain number of games on WMLW, which is a Milwaukee-only broadcast station. Even though people in Madison who have DirecTV -- a Brewer market -- can't get WMLW, they still black out the other team's broadcast. So that means, for those games, a large part of the Brewers own market can't watch the game at all on TV. Which is......really dumb.
  18. TBS does not do Braves games nationally anymore. WGN is still one of the best things going and there's still a lot of people that depend on it. And when you don't have any other channels to watch the games besides the 5-6 national games, you better believe that WGN's picture looks just fine. I've never heard somebody complain about WGN's picture that didn't have CSN, and that's including a bunch of people with huge HD packages. I've got CSN now which I'm very thankful for. But I couldn't imagine WGN going away because all the people in my area who are Cubs fans wouldn't really be fans anymore because they could never watch the team. I would trade being able to chat with them over a little better of a picture any day. It's not like WGN is broadcasting in 60's quality anyway. It's not really the Cub broadcasts that are the problem anyway. It's the fact that they offer nothing else outside the sports broadcasts, which causes providers to turn up their nose at adding the channel. Providers don't see the need to add WGN HD because the value of the station is incredibly low. Compare that to TBS HD, TNT HD -- all added universally a long time ago. There's a reason for that. That's what my complaint is. Shape up the station, make it at least a little attractive to be added to the HD tiers.
  19. He can pitch a few innings from 2nd base, save up those BP arms and you don't have to use another position player.
  20. Yeah, it really looks like crap. To the point where I consider watching the other team's HD feed on EI. I do that. If you have a DVR, you should be able to delay your video just enough to sync it up with Pat & Ron on the radio. It's kind of sad that people who love the Cubs must resort to tuning into, say, the Pittsburgh broadcast just to get acceptable video of their team.
  21. I still like Lou, but it's hard to defend some of his decisions. I guess I do give him a bit of a free pass -- but so what? I'm looking for wins. When my team loses & sucks, then I start looking for heads. When they win, I'm happy.
  22. They leave the radio feed on the iphone after they go to commercial, and you can hear everyone singing "Go Cubs Go" Nice.
  23. I would, but I'd rather people not know I'm still here and able to go on a conference call. Haha :) I know exactly how you feel. Cubs Win, and no seatbelt required!
  24. Oh yes he can. Stop saying that. Need good vibes here.
