  1. It doesn't have anything to do with forgetting how to hit, and I never said it wasn't absurd. My concern is that it is happening though, and will continue to get worse unless he gets better, in a hurry. But it would not be at all surprising if he fails to come close to his past two seasons' OPS. Yeah, I agree -- it's not really about whether or not people should be on Milton's case. It's about the fact that they will be, and Milton is very unlikely to be able to handle it. Even less so than Jones was. I'm concerned how this will play out if he doesn't start hitting the ball soon.
  2. At that point though, you're just giving Huet a chance to have his only playoff appearance being the elimination game. And? Khabibulin is the better goalie, and he gets more than two bad road games before you yank him for a completely cold goalie. Khabi has had years to perform up to his contract as a Blackhawk. So far he's only done so for part of half a season. He's had his own cold stretches this year, and he's not coming back next year. So what's the point in sticking with him? He doesn't have a track record with the team worthy of sticking with him through thick and thin. It probably doesn't matter. But with Khabi doing nothing so far this postseason and it making no sense to bring him back next year, I'd go with Huet now. I really don't like Huet. I kinda wish the Hawks hadn't even signed him. The man is prone to cold streaks that make Khabi look like a world beater.
  3. I'm going to give him more time, but I'm not going to excuse the lack of hitting anymore. We haven't seen anything out of him for the better part of a month. People are all over Lee and he's done far more.
  4. Not to mention a few questionable 3-2 calls that went against him. The OBP may be over .300. 2 strike counts, he's got the bat on his shoulder praying for a walk on close pitches. Something is definitely not right with him. Swing the damn bat.
  5. Really? A reach? I thought I remember that pick being praised from the beginning. I thought he was considered something like 1st round football ability but slipped only because of a perceived lack of athleticism. Maybe that's just my memory in hindsight, but I have vague recollections of a generally upbeat response to that selection while seeing some video of him at Nebraska. I don't remember him being a reach at all. One of his coaches called him the smartest football player he'd ever seen coming out of Nebraska. Back in those days, it actually meant something.
  6. A couple weeks ago I thought they were a 2 wins in the playoffs type team, but I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see them win one series. I don't see them getting past the next opponent, but they can beat Calgary. I'd go with Huet. He's your goalie next year, Khabi has been nothing special in the playoffs, and really over the course of his stay in Chicago, he's only had a couple stretches of brilliance. For as well as he played at times this year, he only did it in half the team's games. He's shown absolutely no sign that he's capable of being the true #1 goalie over the course of an entire season and playoffs. Why not give Huet a shot right now. It's not like he's be at risk of "blowing the chance" in these playoffs. Khabi played better in the first 2 home games though.
  7. Ugh, why you gotta go giving me hope with a 3 goal comeback only to suck in the 3rd period and lose, Hawks?
  8. LaRussa's complaint about the Cubs complaint is really just his backhanded way of making his own complaint.
  9. I love that Lilly uses his smarts to remain effective. And I also love posts that point out a pitcher still using his FB effectively even with a lower velocity, and that post doesn't include a "OMG WHAT IS WRONG?!?" type comment.
  10. Cards fan whipped out the World Series trump card, which is what pretty much every Cards fan is going to do.
  11. Next time you select a winner, better make sure he can actually pay first.
  12. I agree, I expected it to take a little longer too, but suspected his everyday numbers would be lower. I was hoping for a longer grace period, and a more shallow decline from the bench numbers. Let's hope in the long run that plays out. Otherwise it's going to make me long for DeRosa even more.
  13. No, it's defensive coordinator. The Bears will be drafting him to be the eventual Lovie replacement as DC :P
  14. Williams seems like a reach in the mid 2nd round. McShay must be projecting that a ton of WRs will be going earlier. *sigh* I guess I'm the only one still hoping for a decent WR to drop. :(
  15. +1 I said to myself -- they'll never get that stop, too much time, too little defense. Sure enough, couldn't get that stop. I'm trying to tell myself that we accomplished what we wanted to. We flipped home court advantage, got a big road win, and we play better at home. Somehow that's not totally helping feeling horrible about losing that game though. We had it.
  16. Actually, the idiot is Ochocinco for not changing his name to the right thing. But that wouldn't be nearly as funny or cool had he done "ochenta y cinco" or "ochenty cinco". Technically his name isn't wrong. He doesn't call himself number eighty-five. He calls himself eight five. So, technically his name is correct in being Ocho Cinco (two words, both capitalized). Did he ever call himself eight five? I've heard plenty of people referred to as the individual digits, and not the actual number, but how did that go with Chad? On second thought, I don't give a crap. Why am I talking about this? See, Chad has a way of taking over your mental space without you even realizing it.
  17. He legally changed it. They've been calling him that as a joke for a long time, then the crazy coot went and made it legal. I'll bet most outlets aren't sure what the hell to do with him at this point.
  18. Warmest weather option.
  19. The Flames are using the only tactic that can win them the series. We may not like it, but it's actually good strategy. And it's not like we didn't know all along that teams were going to get physical with the Hawks in the playoffs. Everyone knows the Hawks are great skaters and puck handlers, but a little light on the hitting. Keenan's been around far too long to let a potential advantage like that slide by. He's going to try to use it.
  20. I'm not aware of his injury history outside of this past season. Is it that bad throughout his career? And in my previous post, I meant best available at WR, not just best available. Now that we have a quality QB, we need to give him the necessary tools to be as effective at his job as he can be. Eh, I'm not being totally serious. But I know I'm not the only one who suspected that perhaps Lloyd could have played on some of those Sundays when he didn't.
  21. He'd be fine until about game 4, when he decides his latest bruise is too much and shuts it down again.
  22. I actually like it quite a bit. It's not significantly different from the old one, but it's a little sharper. And this is old news, by the way. I kind of like it too.
  23. 8:30 start, game should get over about 11:00. Not too bad. I feel old. Can hardly stay up that late anymore. I know, I saw that basketball time on the schedule last night and it just seemed like complete madness to me. 10 years ago I would have been like, "cool late night sports!!" Kane out? Wow, I didn't see that coming. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/icing/2009/04/patrick-kane-a-gametime-decision-to-play-in-game-3-vs-flames.html It must still be from that hit by Borque. It was a tough hit, but not the kind that should keep a star out of a playoff game. I know, it's easy for me to say. But 88 needs to toughen up a bit. He needs to get out there and play. I hate to say it, but Kaner is gaining a reputation for being soft and that's not good.
  24. Seriously? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3481361 Seriously, I didn't know.
  25. It seems to me that Lou is already kidding himself keeping Lee in the 3 spot. I'm confused why he hasn't already moved him. Is he afraid of hurting Lee's pride? Derrek doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who can't take it. I think he'd be OK with it.
