The loss of Noah has to be the primary factor. Although at times Tyrus would produce, it was too inconsistent to say he was a difference maker. Also, Tyrus was out for awhile as well. No Noah + bad Deng = not even Rose can pull us into the win column. It's just a waste right now. Hurry up offseason.

He's always been a head case, from day 1. And this idea that he has suddenly started floating that somehow the Cubs were a problem but everywhere else was smooth sailing is so laughable I've got to believe Milton needs serious counseling. The man's mind is broken. We took a huge risk signing him at all, and it certainly didn't work out. I don't care if he can play baseball anymore. He can't *survive*, because nobody wants to be anywhere near him once they figure out who he is. Please no more Miltons.

Jones was saying yesterday morning that he was going to compete for the job or something, and I was thinking "are you delusional? You're gone dude..." I don't mind him thinking that though. He was just trying to remain positive until the last possible moment. I agree, sure would have been nice last year to have him carrying the ball instead of Bell/Wolfe. At least for a significant portion of the time. Some guys just can't stay healthy.

I'd be willing to bet that if I had F U money and didn't have to work for the rest of my life and could literally do whatever I wanted everyday for the rest of my life, my happiness levels would be far higher than the average person making enough to cover basic needs. Far higher. But I'm much lazier and impulsive than the average person. I used to think this way, but I've come to understand that going to work every day is something that gives my life meaning. Not working is nice for a couple months. Then I need something productive to be doing to feel good about myself. Many people can just find things to do though, all on their own. I really need that structure provided for me. I'm not really all that much of a self-starter.

If I considered this season to be the only shot the Blackhawks will have to win a championship, then I would be more upset if they didn't. But even with some upcoming defections, I still believe this team will have opportunities to get there in upcoming seasons. I expect the Hawks to be contenders for awhile. If we don't win it this year, we'll be back.

I would have to assume that he's the #1 based simply on being by far the most highly paid. If Olsen were to stay, he'd have to be a part-time guy, because they aren't going to go 2 WR, 2 TE, 1RB all that often. I'm guessing the look will most often be 3 WR, 1 TE, 1B, that allows for 7 blockers on any given play, and both the TE and RB can also be an outlet if the 3 WR don't get open. I'd prefer the premium be on keeping Cutler from getting killed. The problem, though, is that from what I hear Manumaleuna isn't really a pass-blocking wizard. I've been hearing more that he average in pass blocking, but is a load coming off the line on running plays. So no, I really don't want to sacrifice Olsen's pass catching just to gain average pass blocking, if that's what it is going to be.

What are the odds of any team going through 3 teams to the finals? Can't be much better. Heck, in any sport.

I've never liked the guy, I admit. But Khabi was never as bad as Huet. But, on a more positive note, at least we know ownership won't let the team go to hell for another 15 years if they blow this chance. He really wasn't good in the playoffs last year. I don't know why so many people keep clinging to him in these Huet arguments.

Not necessarily, you're right. But it is always a concern when a guy gets a massive paycheck that he might lose that little extra edge that makes him a truly special player. Some players do fine after being paid. Some seem to lose a little off the top.

Highly doubtful. Basically, this means Peppers still has good reason to try. He still has motivation. That's good work by the Bears.

The only way that happens if the Bears get a 2nd rd pick in next years draft. Otherwise, giving away Olsen late round pick does not benefit the Bears. I rather hold onto Olsen then to give him away. Yeah, if all he is going to net is a 5th round pick, at best, then keep him. In that case, it's worth the chance that the team flames out, Lovie goes and thus Martz goes, and in 2011 we have a new OC, still have Cutler and still have Olsen. I tend to agree, but I don't think any of our current decision-makers would use this reasoning. They're thinking about this year -- and to hell with what a new regime could do with Olsen.

I vaguely remember some comments when he first arrived in Seattle, and then this. Not a heck of a lot. I thought those were more along the lines of "that's last year, I'm not talking about Chicago anymore." But I could be mistaken. Wouldn't be a big surprise to find that Bradley said that, and then ultimately couldn't keep his trap shut about it.

Grant Fuhr was winning Cups with a sv% well below .900 and GAA's usually well above 3, sometimes pushing 4. That would plant him firmly at the bottom of the league this year, and probably most years. Of course, Fuhr was playing with one of the great scoring teams of all time so it didn't matter much. I'm not sure how much defense the Oilers teams were sacrificing too, given that they knew they could just blow goals past everyone. I think it's worth noting.

There's a difference between staying positive and putting on blinders. What's the longest hot streak either of our goalies has had this season? 3 games? There is no reason to expect either of them will do any better in the playoffs, though Niemi seems to play up to big games better and seems to have better focus. Go with him. Everyone knows a goalie collapse in the playoffs could happen. I see no reason not to remain positive until it does happen, and I see no benefit to worrying about it until it does happen. We are what we are. It's not like there are the possibility of changes at this point. Talking about how bad it is going to be isn't going to make anything better. I'll assume they are going to find a way to get it done until proven otherwise. Huet has gotten hot before. Niemi has looked great at times. It can happen.

I have no concern whatsoever on how this affects the 2010 payroll structure. The fact that contracts can be broken makes most of this easier to manage. However, it's almost a lock that there will be a cap if/when the CBA is finalized, and my concern is that they will be in a tough spot 2 years from now because they've guaranteed so much to these guys. The desperation is obvious, and necessary. However, desperate decision makers are dangerous, and somewhat like what happened with the Cubs a couple years ago, a sudden splurge in spending may have a lasting effect when those purse strings are tightened later on. And you can guarantee the Bears won't always be this aggressive with the money. Yes, that's what I was implying. We could easily see a new coach/GM in here with little flexibility. Hopefully that won't be for too many years. I could probably live with a dead year where we need to ride out some contracts. But not 2, 3 years.

This year is uncapped. So I really don't care as long as it won't affect the ability of the Bears to improve the team moving forward. But I don't know how a big contract will affect things if (and I suppose it is an 'if' at this point) the salary cap comes back. What this mainly shows me is that the Bears have the money, and they can spend it. The question is, do they spend it well. I have no idea, but my sense is that we're seeing the result of some desperate people trying to save their jobs.

Sounds like Big Ben is a little short in the common sense department. At least, if any of the reports I'm hearing are to be believed.
