And their next six are against Utah, Orlando, Miami, Memphis, Dallas and Cleveland. Better beat Memphis. They can't have known Noah's injury would be such a tough nut to crack. And I do think Noah makes a big difference on this club. They'll likely continue to slide. If N&G is right, then it won't matter and I don't care.

Considering he's giving up HRs to guys wearing no. 83, nobody. He's 29, a former 40th round pick, and he was once traded for Jose Molina, says Wikipedia. He's a guy who has hung around the minors so long it might be neat to see him get a cup of coffee someday. I'll pay for Starbucks. -

For years I got great seats at the UC for Wings/Hawks games for next to nothing...I can't express how depressing it is to have to pay a lot for 300 level seats. It would be nice of Hawks fans to let us Wings fans fill up the UC still. I think that is real cool salukifudd. I really hope you enjoy the game. I really hope the Wings win though, cause they need to points badly. it would be even nicer if the Wings would hurry up and become irrelevant. :hello:

Forte's knee injury wasn't serious enough to keep him out. Having the knee scoped doesn't mean he's going to suddenly develop quickness that frankly he's never shown. I'm less optimistic. I suspect we've been seeing what Matt Forte really is. He has some skills but should not be considered a feature back and is simply never going to be a guy who can make a quick first cut to hit the hole before it is gone.

It does make sense to have a couple backs with skills in the passing game, given Martz's history of using RBs that way. Also, my understanding is that Taylor is highly regarded as an extra pass blocker. From what I've seen, despite his age Taylor has more quickness than Forte. Again, I think a big part of this is the Bears losing confidence in Forte's ability to be a featured back like he has been the past couple seasons.

taylor's comments at the pc lead me to believe that he's under the impression that he will be the starter, as well. The money speaks. He will at least be given every opportunity to be the starter. I think the Bears were very, very disappointed in Forte last season.

We did sign one, with 2 more warming in the oven. We'll see what happens. I definitely agree if Peppers gets on a plane it's not a good sign for that deal.

Since when do Philly and NE not go after free agents? Philly doesn't fiddle with the salary cap like Washington does, and New England is known for being more than happy to let their own free agents walk, but both of these organizations go hard after free agents with regularity. I know. I saw the whole thing this morning as I was walking out the door, and it just struck me as terribly misinformed, lazy banter with nothing to back it up. Greenburg went so far as to say "we know this never works." And then compared the Bears to the Redskins. We know what? We know that the Redskins didn't translate FA acquisitions into success on the field. But that's about it.

When he makes comments like that, it makes me feel better about him being gone. It just didn't work out, and I'm ready to move on. Apparently Milton never moves on.

Interesting to see what is going to happen the next few hours. I LOL'd after hearing that both NE and Philly made offers to Peppers, after hearing Mike & Mike list them as great teams who never go after FA's.

Looking back at the past 3 years, it looks to me like the Redskins have been most active on the defensive side of the ball, signing Fletcher, Smoot, Haynesworth. They've been a top 10 defense for the past 3 years. They were terrible in '06 as a defense, ranking 31st. So it makes sense to me that they went after defensive targets. I'm sure the FA signings weren't the only factor, but it seems to have contributed to improving the defense. They haven't been good offensively in forever, and other than signing Randle El (who I would argue isn't all that big a signing), they haven't really targeted big offensive FA's -- at least, not at the skill positions. It's obvious the current Bears regime is desperate for quick improvements to be made. I'm not all that comfortable saddling the next coach/GM with expensive, underperforming players either. But I also think that just dismissing it as something that could never, ever help is wrong.

The Vikings were already defending division champions. But not serious contenders for a Super Bowl. The point is, they got better after the signing.

Are there examples of it working? I'm not as up-to-date on the Bears' offseason as most, but I don't see any offensive linemen on the list of targets. You could argue that the Vikings picked up a pretty big fish last season off the market and it made them an NFC Championship contender.

To me, Bosh is a must this offseason. They should go up there and shower him with money & women. He seems like the obvious choice, and the Bulls cannot fail this offseason to land a big fish.
