  1. The Crew had some kind of indication. I'm not sure what it was, but they knew something. And you know this....how? because they signed him. They aren't signing players who they think will automatically suck. Neither do the Cubs. See dew's post at the top of this page: they almost certainly signed him for vastly different expectations than what they ended up with. McGehee was not on anyone's radar as being this type of player. Look at almost any evaluation of him as a minor leaguer. understood, but even if they're hoping to get lucky there has to be reason they're hoping with McGehee as opposed to the hundreds of other late 20's low-grade prospects. I'm not pretending to know what it was, but it couldn't have just been tossing darts.
  2. I wish he was fired weeks ago, but apparently there is no limit to the amount of oblivious apathy he can display and still keep his job.

  4. I sense another Summer of Cub discontent coming on. Anyone canceling their Wrigley plans?
  5. My fear is Hendry will be here for awhile. What little I have learned about Ricketts is telling me he is not likely to replace both GM and manager at the same time. He seems more measured than that. I want slash & burn right now. I don't feel like I'm going to get it.
  6. I saw it, but wasn't sure if it was a shrug or a shiver. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was a shiver. why would you give Lou the benefit of the doubt? :)
  7. the offense can't be bad, we picked up supercoach Jaramillo remember?
  8. LOL nice FAIL Cobbies. When do the Blackhawks play again?
  9. He's daring Jim to fire him. jimmy doesn't have the stones to do it though. if that's the case then Lou doesn't have the decency to retire, either
  10. Who else saw Lou shrug in the dugout after that homer? Lilly pitches a solid game, I leave him in just long enough to fail. Then I pull him. Oh well, guess that's just the way it is. God someone please put dead Lou out of his misery
  11. Watching this team is akin to stabbing yourself in the eyeballs.
  12. You can send him to me with a sturdy, bio-degradeable garbage bag. I'll make sure he is disposed of in the most humane, environmentally friendly way possible.
  13. He's a player you love when he's on your team. And just as easily, you despise him when he's not.
  14. The Crew had some kind of indication. I'm not sure what it was, but they knew something. Whatever happened, the Cubs failed to see McGehee's potential. And it does hurt, especially now.
  15. it wasn't hilarious, he was getting surly on a bunch of little bitches. i've seen this before. like i said, eager is the wrong guy to pick a fight with if you're pronger. he's a headhunter on the forecheck and just about worthless anywhere else. ooh, you got into eager's head and he put you out of the series on a 5-minute major for boarding which your team converted into nothing. and there's really no head to get into. My impression of Eager is that Pronger's efforts are wasted. He doesn't give a flying F what anyone says or thinks about him -- that's probably the biggest reason he's in the league. Oh, and his damage is done. One game winner from Eager in a series is more than could ever be expected. Actually I feel the same way about Big Buff. Try to intimidate him all you want: it's wasted effort. He doesn't care.
  16. Seems like every team tries to intimidate the Hawks, and it never really works.
  17. Yeah, we've already got the mini tron, people. What else do you want? Cripes!
  18. They won't beat Philly twice in a row in their building. This series is definitely coming back to Chicago. Oh, and Wood & Prior never lost back to back all season.
  19. Yeah, that was a hectic 3rd period, and really the Hawks didn't do much other than clear the puck. They snuffed it out successfully, but I am also a little shaken by how much of the action Philly was able to control. Philly is in the desperate position of needing to hold serve the next 2 games. I like the Hawks being in that position, but I'm also aware that Philly has played its best hockey when pressed against the wall. It's not over.
  20. I don't see a problem putting more detailed stats on the side displays. Other parks do that, even with a huge jumbotron in Center Field. My answer to the original question would be: never.
  21. Refs'll get the Flyers back into the series. They almost succeeded tonight.
  22. He stuck his stick into the guy's skate and took him down. I don't know how much more legit a tripping call can get. I'm more upset about what the Flyers get away with than what the Hawks are getting called for. if a flyer had done it there would have been no call.
  23. Yea what crap that Pronger gets to give players a shot well after the whistle too. That one on toews was in full view of the ref. Screw you refs. We've beaten the flyers AND you twice now. This is BS
