  1. Yeah this whole leadoff thing with Theriot is off to a marvelous start.
  2. So Lou pinch hits for Marshall. And then Lowe walks Tracy on 4 pitches. Nice. Love this game.
  3. Leave him in. It's only the 4th inning I thought Marshall would be doing de-facto starter duty when the likes of Silva melted down, not Zambrano.
  4. Name them. I bet almost all of them missed bats at a decent rate. Greg Maddux in the later part of his career (2002-2008) put up a 3.92 ERA and struck out only 14.1% of the batters he faced http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/maddugr01.shtml?redir#2002-2008-sum:pitching_simple I'm at work so I'm not putting a ton of thought into this, so I'm likely to be contradicted, but that's just the first name I thought of when you asked me to name one. I just can't think of many pitchers like Maddux. But I haven't really put much thought into it. I assume Kyle has, which is why he asked the question
  5. Yeah, actually this is really cool seeing Marshall come out of the gate like this. Win or lose. GJ lanky lefty.
  6. Come on, this is fun dammit! Where would we be without our loser Cubs? Oh yeah, we'd be winning and happy. To hell with that!
  7. Aram refuses to let bad pitching ruin his day.
  8. ...and immediately Braves break into their obnoxious, old, tired, ridiculous imitation of Florida State fans.
  9. Ahh, the old timer / chipmunk hybrid approach. Nice.
  10. A game will be played today? Freakout Fest '10 is about to begin!
  11. I give credit to Q for making that move. Buff wasn't performing very well where he was, then we lost Campbell. He turned two bad situations into one good one (at least for now), by making a single move that I'm not sure every NHL coach would have made.
  12. His numbers have improved every season. Though I don't know where he tops out. If he tops out where he is right now, I'd call him decent. I wouldn't call him good -- it's probably just semantics though. I'd give him a look if I was a GM, put it that way.
  13. It's Opening Day on the Game Thread forum!!!! And you know what that means!
  14. In general I stop watching any sport where one team becomes so dominant that they never lose anymore. However, in the case of women's BB, I wasn't watching anyway.
  15. Just have to hope Silva falls outside of the "for the most part" group. I hope he isn't given all kinds of opportunity to fail over & over again though, because he may very well take advantage of all those opportunities.
  16. Better in the 2nd, but still losing.
  17. Broncos have been holding out for a first rounder for him. Yeah, I see that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like his off the field issues have been significant enough to raise the risk of trading for him enough to take him below first rounder territory.
  18. I just don't think it's a coincidence that this was also the period where he was unfamiliar.
  19. In a heartbeat. First rounder? Surely he could be had for less.
  20. His 2008 form was likely just major league hitters needing to learn his stuff. He simply needs to get better.
  21. Shouldn't there be an apostrophe?
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5048309 So then I guess this means Hendry staying on wasn't just a one year thing, then? Long term Hendry was not what I was hoping for when Ricketts bought the team.
  23. Maddux win does not matter. Game 5 win over Atlanta, first playoff series win in franchise history, should be in its place Agreed. Maddux was a Brave for most of his career, so 300 is rather meaningless in such a storied franchise. Yes. That playoff series win means a ton more than Maddux winning 300.
